Spy Hunter: Nowhere To Run Q&A

Has there been any significant graphical upgrades to the engine?

This is a brand new graphics engine for Spy. Since we’ve never had any third person or melee system in any pervious Spy – this was a big challenge for us.

What can we expect this time around in terms of soundtrack? A game as cinematic as this sounds like it may have a killer soundtrack to go along with it?

We’re not doing any licensed music, not even the Peter Gunn theme that’s been part and parcel to Spy. We’ve developed a new theme song that really fits the franchise well and we’ve gone about the task of scoring each level to fit the mood of the environment. I’m sure you’ll be pleased with the end results.

Will the evil NOSTRA organization be returning this time around? What are their nefarious plans this time?

Great question. One thing about Spy Hunter that I want to make perfectly clear, from a timeline perspective this is a Prequel to the other Spy versions. At this point in the Spy Hunter timeline, the Interceptor has just been completed and was being moved from Darpa to IES. You get introduced to the driver – Alex Decker played by Dwayne Johnson. You meet the scientists responsible for building the Interceptor. You get some foreshadowing into how the Interceptor got its voice. And, not only do you get introduced to Nostra, but you find out who runs Nostra and what their plans are – how they got their technology, etc. So yes, Nostra is back… or, shall we say, emerging. As are all the elements that other Spy Hunter games have touched on. We’re writing the first chapter of the Spy Hunter franchise, so we can write some exciting books in the future.

What kind of online play can we expect from Nowhere To Run? Will there be any co-op modes?

No multi-player this time around. We had a lot of stuff to focus on with the third person gameplay. However, you can imagine some of the things we have planned for the future.

Are you planning any next-gen versions of Nowhere To Run?

Spy Hunter has been a key Midway franchise. We’re working on giving it a new identity and a new foundation with Spy Hunter: Nowhere to Run. I see a bright future ahead for this franchise.

Thanks for taking the time to speak with us, is there anything else you would like to say to our readers?

The intention of this version of Spy was to get back to the classic lateral gameplay of the coin-op version, to add in a compelling story with an exciting and fun third person mode. We wanted to re-invent the franchise, to revitalize it by building a new foundation. This is not your brothers Spy Hunter, it’s yours and your brothers!
