These new screens from the parachuting sequence from the new Splinter Cell game are simply amazing. If this is what we have in store on the Xbox360 we are in for a treat. Click on the news title for the screens. There is some question as to whether or not these are cutscene caps from Xbox1, we feel that due to the resolution this is not true.

Doesn't look real-time to me.

I'm willing to bet quite a lot those are caps of one of the "directed moments." Especially when looking at "gameplay" style screens. The one I'm referring to has Sam holding a prison guard in a choke hold behind a set of windows, one of which is broken with a gun-toting guard behind them. You can even see the reflection of Sam and his captive in the window. That part blew me away.

The 360s powerful enough to pull it off in real time whether they want to allow you to control the sky diving part is another thing totallUbisoft has been talking about multi-threading the game engine and creating environments so vast and beautiful that this game is sure to be a graphical monster that shows off the 360s power a bit. I mean hey look at how splinter cells for the regular xbox look? These guys that work on this series are some of the best graphics designers around so this game will be stunning.

Well, that explains it. In a new interview on Gametrailers, Ubi reveals the 360 version iS NOT using the Chaos Theory engine as previously thought, they are using an entirely new engine.Cool beans.

This very well be actual gameplay they were talking about having these amazing looking moments that are too good to be true that you can control. For example look at as one of the those minigames that you'd see show up in god of war when you are fighting that huge hydra. How you attack your weapons to the sides of his mouth then smash his head against that part on the boat. I'm thinking this is one such directed moment that or its just some really nice looking cutscene, but the 360 is more than capable of doing this in real time (check enchant arm....) Most of the amazing things in enchant arm are all real time.

These shots are from IN-ENGINE controllable cutscenes. It would be like controlling master chief in 3rd person in the Halo 2 cutscenes (the cutscenes looked slightly better than the actual game play - when the textures weren't missing at least ;) ). The game won't actually look that good while you're playing it, but it will be PRETTY DAMN CLOSE.

I think it'll look better :) Enchant arm's realtime scenes usually outdo the pre rendered ones. Alot of people prefer to watch the realtime stuff more as opposed to pre rendered scenes.
