New Final Fantasy XII Info >
2006/02/02 10:20:09: Posted by DM
Some new details about Final Fantasy XII have emerged on the Japanese website finalfantasy12.org. NO FMV skipping? What is that about. (Thanks for the translation Franker)

Apparently the opening FMV sequence is a Xenosaga-length 17 minutes long. There is also no way to skip this FMV or any others in the game. To add to the difficulty, the save points in the game are few and far between. No more two and three save points per dungeon like in FFX. The game will feature a continue option like in Kingdom Hearts. The game is also 100% complete according to the website. There is also some sort of mini-game, no details on that yet though.

I was hoping that they would get to their senses and start making cut scenes skippable and give the player the ability to save anywhere, for.. you now, the sake of user-friendliness and good game design? I guess not. Having an actual life makes it hard to spend long sessions with a game. Sometimes an RPG requires the player to spend more than an hour at the time playing before it can be saved, but dinner and laundry won´t happen by themselves. Square-Enix can keep their games, thanks. I prefer actual *entertainment* in my free time and this is bordering work.
