1,660,000 Xbox360 Units Sold In Europe And The US Says Ubi >
2006/03/17 9:00:11: Posted by DM
According to Gamefront, Ubisoft claims that 1.6 million Xbox360 units have sold so far in Europe and the US. Japan was not mentioned, maybe because the numbers are not consequential, or maybe because they do not have the data. Still, that is pretty impressive for the 6 month mark.

That is impressive. I don't get Japan if this system is doing so well in other countries why not there. One time somebody said its because the games don't appeal to them. But I feel thats not the case. If it was then how about the Japanese companies making games for them. I mean come on You eat at Mcdonalds there and you buy our music but would not support the systems. I think its about time you guys give our systems a chance and join the party. It's fun over here.

Well they definetly need to show the god damn thing some love the rest of the world can't be that stupid right? ;)

At any rate japan voted sakaguchi the man that was most representative of the 2005 gaming industry nintendo's miyamoto was #8 and bill gates #7 they OBVIOUSLY love sakauguchi. Well they'll have their chance to show their love when he releases his games for the 360 blue dragon, lost odyssey, and cry on.

Expect blue dragon to sell like crazy in japan if it doesn't sell there it'll surely sell like wildfire in the usa or europe.

I know it's kinda bad for the Xbox not to have much Japanese consumer support. But the system is selling great in the US (just need more supply). And the US market is huge! I just hope Blue Dragon and Lost odyssey make it here for each passing day I care less and less about the Japanese consumer not caring about the Xbox360. Long live the Xbox 360!!!!!

You maybe a 100% right optaviusx. But I still don't get the disrespect we get from them. Enchant Arms came out and I don't know how they responded to it. Capcom is bringing Dead Rising, Konami is backing the system up. Even square Enix. Hopefully I'm wrong and its looking a little better for the XBOX360 over there.

I don't really think it's about the games. It's a matter of them taking a domestic product over an outsider. Which is FU in my book, as over here in the US we base ours purchases on quality we don't base it on where's it coming from.

Yea as peter moore likes to say though "its a marathon not a sprint" the 360's success in japan will be a long term one not something that takes place within a short period of time. They (japanese market) need to see that the 360 wont be abandoned in terms of developer support like the original was in japan. As a wierd a game as it looks I think viva pinata will be big in japan not as sure a shot as sakauguchi's games though.

Enchant arm (sadly if that was on ps3 it would've sold like crazy) I can't wait for that thing to come to the usa or europe I really want enchant arm. Square enix has some big announcements regarding the 360 at E3 concerning the next gen installment of dragon quest and final fantasy.

People just have to realize that the japanese wont fall for these simple attempts so far. One huge developers has to commit to the 360 and let them see they are sticking with it and bam the 360 can become a player in japan (sony is guaranteed to win japan though unless microsoft has some MAJOR unannounced game up their sleeves (which I know they do).

Correction unnannounced GAMES plural ;)

I agree Silverwolf. It could be domestic over an outsider. Maybe they're still mad about the bomb thing. I don't know. If you look at the situation. America and Europe always been allieds. It could be about politics. But thats fine. Long Live XBOX360!!!!!

Maybe they just don't like our foreign policy (The one involving you know where) Bush is messing up 360 sales =P

Don't know if you can count november as thats when the thing went on sale first in the usa so we should count a month right after the november launch which would be like december 22nd? Which would mark sometime december the first month of availability for the 360. It seems as if it would be less than 4 months.

I forgot the day of the 360 launch.

In America the 360 launch was nov 22 I believe.

come on guys. it's a japanese mentality to support their own products. It's nationalistic pride or something.

P.s. I'm Korean so my views on Japanese people are a little twisted, but Japanese people in general, look down on anything that's American made. (especially electronics) While i do think that most Japanese gamers are waiting for the PS3, they aren't even giving the Xbox360 a chance.

Brand Association goes a long way.

You know what I think the big problem is? Sony NOT listing a price for the ps3 is making people in japan think twice about buying a 360. Scare them make them think its REALLY expensive as kutaragi has said constantly. If they knew the price then they'd know if they can spend some cash on a 360 and STILL be able to get their ps3.

Sakaguchi knows exactly what he's doing so he knows what he needs to do with blue dragon and his other 2 exclusive 360 titles. He will easily sell 500,000 copies or more of his 360 games in japan dare I say over 1.7 million? I think it'll happen, but there is quite a ways to go he will blow us away at E3 with his games just wait and see.
