Carmack Says Mobile Gaming Is The Future >
2006/05/18 13:58:27: Posted by DM
John Carmack, the creator of the Doom franchise and co-founder of iD Software, says that mobile gaming is the future. Carmack goes on to say that even though episodic gaming is popular now, it may still fail. In a gamign world where sequels rule, mobile gaming is an area that has the potential to see the success of new IPs that may even make their way onto consoles.

his point makes enough sense, but yeah it seems like one of thoughts you have when you're baked and it seems rational. If companies want to make low budget games to test the market it shouldn't be on cell phones. Make a mod for an existing game or make something for the xbla :|

You guys think John Carmack doesn't know what he's talking about? How many people own ps2s? Just over 100 million. What about Xbox? Just over 20 million or more not sure of the numbers. Pay attention to the nintendo ds' success in such a short time frame, but that isn't my point right now.

Now how many out there own cell phones? Billions. You know microsoft's recent announcement of Live Anywhere is pretty genius when you stop and think about the possibilities. Why do you think Square Enix is bothering developing titles for the cell phone? Why is EA making a fight night game for cell phones? There is an amazingly large untapped fanbase out there. Live Anywhere should be the biggest newflash that Microsoft really is planning a handheld device and we'll hear about it in 2007 (likely the consumer electronics show in january)

Yeah but do you know real people with lives don't play video games on cell phones? As for the ones that do, they prefer the handhelds or even consoles themselves...

Thats my take on the reality of cell phones, you see hot bitches playing games or even guys on that shit? probably not, get your ass outside more!
