Sony Says 'We Didn't Steal Nintendo's Idea' >
2006/05/31 13:08:28: Posted by DM
Sony boss Phil Harrison has come out and made a statement against Nintendo's claim that Sony stole the motion sensing idea. He, in fact, says that the claim is "stupid." He goes on to say that when Nintendo released the N64 and it had 3D games, did Sony say that Nintendo stole their idea? Sounds like fightin' words to me.

Of course not they basically remade the controller Microsoft made 6 years ago :P Just messing around its cool for them to do whatever they want, but the motion sensing is only in there minus rumble because of their legal battle with immersion.

sounds like my dad is stronger than your dad... amazing is to see how premature those sony bosses are

Sony steal Nintendo's Idea shame and the big problem is there will be no rumble in the ps3 controller.

Sony need to wake up.

All this talk of who stole what is idiotic.

Lets see who uses it effectively that it.

All this whining like thier 5 year olds, its pathetic, get on and use the damn things. Btw, its not like montion sensing is some new technology invented by nintendo. And more so thier not the first to use it in videogames.

Don't you mean immature?

I really have to call Sony on this. They would have considered the idea stupid if Nintendo hadn't done it first in this generation. It seems everytime Sony opens it's mouth these days, they can only do themselves harm.

And yes, MS is the wiser for NOT following...because they are actually leading. They are ahead by 6 years. They already tried it, and failed.

The Gon,t

sony is trying to have everything covered by stealing Wii senser controller.

Sony should leave the senser controller to Wii.

i rather a rumble controller.

ill accept Wii senser controller.

but ill still get a Wii and a ps3 at launch.

ill just of to get a third party controller for the ps3 with vibration and rumble because when im playing shooter games i want to feel the vibration when im shooting simple as that.

you heard mi.

IM OUT.

Only if you have played the Wii like myself, will truly understand how amazing it really works. Other than that Sony came to late and yea when they open there mouth up they only do themselves harm. Microsoft will succeed with Xboxlive but Wii.....when you have played it.....its....priceless
Written by Mr. Know it all (83) on 2006/05/31

IT's all a gimmick! Both controllers, if you ask me. I won't think it's priceless. I'll think the same of it... as a "TOY" something I don't wanna stand up and do. Something I won't wanna touch after the 1st time I play it.

Sony and Nintendo are barking up the wrong tree with their motion censor bullshit, if you ask me.

The sensors are probably off the shelf components with minor tweaking. Its not that far fetched that someone might have the idea of putting in a controller. They might even put in PSP2 whenever that arrives.

What i would have like to see was a scroll wheel (or jog dial) in place of R2 button and one for the other side too. That would be handy for zooming in sniper mode or cycling through weapons etc.

Sony making themselves look like fools yet again. Any sort of motion sensing in a controller can date back to the Atari days, NOT that stupid Microsoft controller for the PC. Sony's analogy about 3D gaming being copied by Nintendo is completely inaccurate because there were 3D games BEFORE Sony ever even thought about coming into the video game industry (3DO, PC). Way to go, another retarded remark added to the Sony Stupidity Pile(tm)

I have to agree with anti here, a shoulder mounted scroll wheel would be freakin' sweet.

I don't under stand why you guys keep says "I'll buy a third party ps3 controller foe rumble" rumble is not gonna work if it hasn't been coded in the game!!!
Written by Kenny K on 2006/05/31

i think many people are getting the wrong idea of who copied who. i think what sony doesnt understand is that few are saying that they stole the technology but they did steal the idea. meaning that if nintendo didnt choose to have the motion wand, then neither would sony.

If thats the case, thn stony stole the analog controller from Nintendo. The first PS controller never had an analog stick on it and since N64 pulled it off so well and then the saturn had one with Nights Sony had to follow suit.

I believe Sony was inspired by Nintendo, but so what? I don't care. But I will miss the rumblepack.

Wow babble and Big M are more likely the retarded boners in here to think in such away Microsoft is the only one's that barely has any new features on there gayass console knowing that there's not that much in thier to speak of such low features for such a console that cost $400 what a waste of money.
