Tony Hawk's Project 8 PS3 Is Not Online, Xbox360 Title Is >
2006/09/14 21:34:37: Posted by DM
IGN UK has posted a new hands-on preview of Tony Hawk's Project 8 for the Playstation 3. The preview offers a great look at just what the game is, and how it wil work. IGN also mentions something disappointing. The game is not online for the PS3. While the XBox360 version has full online capabilities with many modes, the PS3 version does not even have 1 online mode. Apparently this is because Neversoft received their PS3 beta kits within the last few weeks, and they still do not have any of the online network software libraries and has no indication of how the online components will work on PS3. The game will make the PS3's launch, but there will be no network play. What gives Sony?

But Project 8 is not online for PlayStation 3. Not online for PS3. Only within the last three weeks has Neversoft received its PS3 beta kits, a black horizontal box about one foot wide by two feet long and two inches deep, with a slew of buttons and dials on its front deck. Neversoft is confident the PS3 version of the game will ship at launch in November, but it still hasn't received all of the software libraries required to program for the PS3's network modes. They also said they still have no indication of how the online components will work on PS3, so it's not offering them.

I still wish to know if you can get off your skateboard and run around. That's the feature that made me NOT purchase previous games in the series :)

Something is fishy here; Resistance is pushing 40 user multiplayer from the get-go, and these guys cant do sh!t? Anyways, whatever.

i smell alot of smoke... where theres smoke theres fire.. and then theres Mike with his Flamming.. i cant wait to see what he has to say (sarcasm)

Smarty that was my comment!! how can Resistance FOM claim 40 players online working great when these guys have not even got the online libraries yet??
Written by optaviusx on 2006/09/14

Well these guys aren't a first party I'm guessing

#1 they just didn't get the kit on time

#2 require more time to learn about the ps3's online infrastructure

#3 It would take awhile for them to get the libararies so its pointless.

No big deal.

now to get this thread back on track...

yes, but is Resistance FOM devs considered first party?
Written by Kenny K on 2006/09/15

DM: no the devs are not 1st party but the game is. what the news from IGN should tell you is that a lot of sony's online plans are still hazy at the moment. also just because another activision game is online does not mean that all of them are. dev kits are sent on a developer basis not by the publisher.

this team is not the first team to announce that havent received better hardware or tools yet, so its no surprise. and with sony being so flakey on their online plans it would seem that the late arrival of hardware and tools arent making things any easier.

To make up for the loss of online, neversoft is putting in exclusive content for the PS3 version.

@ AT DM

i believe so... the game FOM is being published by sony too aswell.. which is why they may have online all ready available
Written by sharod on 2006/09/15

No amount of "exclusive content" can make up for no online capabilities. Plus any "exclusive content" the PS3 version might have can easily be downloaded through XBlive IF it's made available to X360 users...
