Jack Tretton from Sony cconducted a video interview with the people fropm GameTrailers in which he admits that Sony may have some work to do regarding the PS3, and that Sony is not closed to making changes that will help facilitate the change. In the interview he makes statements like:

By including Blu-ray in the PS3 we're taking some lumps in the short term so we can say 'I told you so' in the long term. (Click read more for more)

$599 is a lot of money, but it's the world's worst-kept secret that we're selling it at a significant investment from Sony. We're investing along with the consumer."

You will see peripherals coming from SCEA that will address the interests of the U.S. consumer. I don't have anything to tell you specifically, but we're open to changing the Sixaxis controller.

Good to hear.

And I agree that it will take some time for people to realize that they're also getting a great Blu-ray player.

Well they changed the original PS1 controller how many times? So, no big wup, as long as they dont take anything away.

Response to Smarty Pantz:

Obviously they won't take anything away, but the thought of needed to spend even more money for the same controller, SUCKS!!!

And let's not forget that Sony changed the PS1 controller (which can be considered a mistake) in an era where Sega was making a record number of major mistakes, and Nintendo made the huge mistake of sticking with the cartridge format, because virtually every game needed more space that a cartridge allowed.

In todays environment, Sony has enough problems, because they made a mistake of going with the Blu-ray format for games, which is something that can officially be considered as something we don't need, because less than 1% of software needs that much information.

When you consider that Sony has already made major mistakes like that with the PS3, which has caused them to be a very distant third in market-share, then you don't have as much room to goof around, like they did with the PS1. Sony made a decision to go without Rubmle technology for the PS3, and they need to stick with it, even though it wasn't the correct one.

Look at what happens if Sony decides to include Rumble in future versions of the Playstation 3:

It means that people in Europe, where the PS3 hasn't launched yet, will say to themselves, "Rather than buy the PS3 now, and waste $100 on controllers without rumble features, I will just wait a couple months to buy the system when it comes with a controller that rumbles."

That will be great for the European consumer, and that is definitely what they should do for their own benefit.

But that causes a major problem for the Playstation 3, because it ruins its launch in Europe, even moreso, because there will be even fewer people buying the system.

Sky: Do U sit in front of the mirror and practice repeating whatever Sony executives say??? Rumble is important. We all know Sony left it out due to the legal fiasco with Immersion. PC gamers dont have rumble because most PC gamers use a mouse and KB DUMBA$$. Stop smoking Sony's Sausage already... WTF!!! U want to know whats overrated??? The "Cell" and "Blue-Ray" and "1080P" and "HDMI". Whatever happened to "GAMES"?????

Itaintrite: Your right if U want to pay $500.00 - $600.00 for a console U do get a Blue-Ray player. Let's see if this gamble pays off for Sony. What would suck is if they did get Blue-Ray established as the next movie format but lost thier top position in videogame console gaming at the same time. Only time will tell.

Response to NUTTSACK:

Well said; time is the key to telling what will happen. Thankfully, I have Crackdown, Gears of War, Perfect Dark Zero, Call of Duty 2, and Lost Planet right here in front of me! I was playing all of those in the last couple days.

And with Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, and Lost Odyssey on the way, I think I will be playing even more with the Action-RPG style games!
