Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Interview >
2008/01/30 13:34:46: Posted by DM
David Sirlin spoke with Videogamer.com about the upcoming XBox Live Arcade release Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD. The developers are apparently struggling with the XBLA size issue -- the 1080p graphics are very large in size. David also complains about the recent trend in D-pad sucakge among consoles. Check it out.

ps2 news?

(1) I hope that Capcom is aware of the fact that Microsoft will allow games of larger sizes to exist, as long is there is a good reason for the game to be increased in size.

(2) Tip: If anyone out there who works at Capcom is reading this, please make sure that the Elephants on Dhalism's stage don't make those terrible noises that they did in the other Street Fighter 2 Xbox Live Arcade game!!! I literally--LITERALLY--had to grab the remote control and turn the volume down, because I could NOT handle those psychotic elephants with the painfully artificial sounds they make!

(3) It's a shame that I won't get to play this Xbox Live Arcade game, or any others, because I am one of the MANY people out there who REFUSES to buy any Xbox Live Arcade games until Microsoft fixes the problem that OXM magazine talks about--the Licensing Problem that makes it so you CANNOT play offline if your system ever is exchanged as a result of a defect, or is upgraded to an Elite.

Fix that problem, Microsoft, and I will quit ripping on you about that on all the websites!

And OXM magazine will quit ripping on you, too!

i'm gonna enjoy this game on the PSN... no licensing weirdo junk and no size limit :D

If Microsoft doesn't get the Licensing nonsense fixed with Xbox Live Arcade (which I don't think they will, since they said they would try to correct it 10 months ago), then I will probably just get it on PSN--where there is no licensing junk, and no size limit, which means the elephants won't sound terrible like in the previous Xbox Live game.

Hopefully 256MB is enough that those elephants won't suffer from the same problems associated with 50MB of size.

The bad thing about the PSN network is that there is a MUCH SMALLER audience of gamers to play with. You often wait all day to play with people on the PSN.

fuck that. whats wrong with the elephants. they sound just like they did in the fucking arcade.

No question i'm buying this on xbox live.

How can you enjoy anything on PSN? Until in game XMB is finally integrated into PSN, I won't touch a PS3 again. I'm going to get this for the 360 and the Hori arcade stick since all the DPADS suck lately. Yes I said the 360 and PS3 DPADS suck A$$!!!!!
Written by incoming00 on 2008/01/31

dpads suck huh pimpdaddy? is that why you chickened out of our VF5 challenge? i'd pwn you with in all of 360 dpad controller crappiness!!!

but ya, the dpad on 360 sucks balls... i prefer the ps3 better :P

Response to PimpDaddy:

I agree with you on virtually everything you said.

(1) The D-Pads for the Xbox 360 and the PS3 both have problems. Even in the hyperlink above the Capcom representatives make it 100% clear that nothing could be worse than the Playstation D-Pad, because it is in a 4-button style with no diagonal directions. They point out that theoretically the Xbox 360 D-pad should be a lot better, but there is something underneath it that makes it so it can't stand the pressure for complex circular moves that Street Fighter often uses. So, I agree with you on this.

(2) ...I never said that I "enjoyed anything" on the PSN network. In fact, I actually pointed out that the PSN is a pain in the butt for virtually every game, because there is such a small number of users. You end up waiting forevvvvvvvvvvvvvver to play with other people, because they are busy playing games like Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Gears of War, Virtua Fighter 5 ect... on the much more advanced Xbox Live.

(3) I recently realized that I got two $20 Xbox Live cards for Christmas as a gift. That means I have to "eventually" spend those Microsoft Points, or else they will "expire." So, that means I will have to get at least 4 Xbox Live Arcade games (preferably 8), since there is NO WAY I am going to pay those high prices for some of the Movie/TV show downloads.

(4) But, Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix is BY FAR the most tempting game to make me buy an Xbox Live Arcade game...and in all honesty, I probably will give in to the pressure and buy it on Xbox Live, just because the Xbox Live service is so FUN with SO MANY competitors to play with for virtually every game out there.

I mean, for crying out loud, I can still find several guys to instantly play Gauntlet and Smash T.V. with if I wait just a few seconds. Xbox Live really is an INCREDIBLE service!

(5) PimpDaddy, you and I, need to find some Skulls together in Halo 3, and then we need to play some VF5. If we can do that, then I will want to play against you at Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix on Xbox Live!

(6) PimpDaddy, the "wired" controllers from different manufacturers, including the ones that have NFL Football teams on them, use a type of D-Pad that is similar to what was used on the SNES. It is quite nice for fighting games if you enjoy using a handheld controller for games like Street Fighter.
