Microsoft Makes $44 Billion Offer For Yahoo >
2008/02/01 11:13:19: Posted by DM
While this is not necessarily gaming news, we thought you might like to know anyway. This just in! Microsoft has made an offer of $44 billion dollars to buyout Yahoo! According to Reuters, Microsoft has offered to acquire the media company Yahoo for $44.6 billion dollars in cash and stock. This would make MS a huge force to reckon with if it went through.

"We have great respect for Yahoo, and together we can offer an increasingly exciting set of solutions for consumers, publishers and advertisers while becoming better positioned to compete in the online services market," Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer said in a statement.

that much moola would make anyone go Yahoo!!!

Response to blacktiger:

Bill Gates, Steve Ballmer, and dozens of others with the best education possible have examined this and they say "it will work."

But, you say it "won't work."...likely because of the jealousy associated with your "Fony BS3" attitude.

If Sony could afford to do something like that, you would be hopping around all over the place.

But Sony is in a position where they have to issue new shares of common stock to the public in an effort to generate liquid assett cash.

And Sony is in a position where they had to take out HUGE loans in order to make up for their lack of cash.

Seriously, DM is 100% correct that this has absolutely nothing to do with gaming, so why try to put a pessimistic view on it.

Why not be like incoming00, using the fun word "moola" and making a cool joke about the word "Yahoo!"

Those Yahoo shares were previously selling at $18 per share, and Microsoft is bidding $31 per share to anyone willing to sell. The shares have risen in value to $28.50, which STILL isn't even as high as the $31!!!

Anyone who owns Yahoo shares and doesn't sell is a goofball who doesn't know ANYTHING about the stock market!!!

If I owned a lot of Yahoo shares, I would be rich for two reasons:

(1) Because of the HUGE increase of the stock value.

(2) Because the shock of such an incredible deal would cause me to become a millionaire in the fertilizer industry, since I would have crapped my pants so many times over and over again out of EXCITEMENT!!!

By the way, incoming00, I will be practicing up at Virtua Fighter 5 Online again soon, and I would like to have the much anticipated contest between the two of us! ;)
Written by incoming00 on 2008/02/01

ah... VF5... i'm always down for a match up. i havent played it a bit, so i'll take this time as well to practice ;)

Response to incoming00:

It now appears that I should have kept my mouth shout...which is often difficult for a four-testicle Krogan Master to do!

I haven't had a lot of time to play videogames for quite a while now, because I have been spending so much time applying for jobs.

And the last game I have been investing so much time in is Mass Effect.

Virtua Fighter 5 was the game before that, though.

I will do my best to get practice time in, and we shall have our historic Xbox Live match of Virtua Fighter 5! ;)

oops...I meant to say "mouth shut," not mouth shout, lol...that is a fairly big difference.

Fony BS3, come on krogan what is this grade school?

I would sell. Why would anyone pay that kind of money for a business nobody has cared about since the 1990's? Does anyone even use Yahoo anymore?
Written by PimpDaddy on 2008/02/01

Bunch of MS Hating B!tches I swear. People use MSN and Yahoo for searching. It's all about preference. Microsoft and Yahoo combined would almost equal Google in the Web search/advertising segment of the market. Thats why Microsoft wants to aquire Yahoo. It's smart business for both of them. Sometimes the only way to compete is to band together. Ever notice how somebody tries to creep into Microsofts territory, next thing you know Microsoft crosses over into thier territory big time. Google opened up a big can of worms when they started trying to compete with MS Office. Got greedy now Microsoft is about to bite back...
Written by blacktiger on 2008/02/02

wtf? MS and Yahoo would equal too GOOGLE...

lol !!!

thats the funniest thing i ever heard...

no one even uses LIVE !

And I doubt Yahoo worth 44 billion dollar...

Yahoo has made adjustments to their search engine in the past year that has made it SUPERIOR to Google's search engine in many ways.

For example, Yahoo has the AMAZING ability to make High-Rated Suggestions as you type in words!...Google doesn't do anything close to that!

And Yahoo Instant Messaging is FAR more popular than anything Google does for instant messaging.

PimpDaddy is 100% correct; it is PATHETIC the way that there are fanboy losers out there who are PESSIMISTIC in their negative attitudes towards Microsoft. Those people don't even care that Microsoft gives more to charity than any other organization in the world!...and not just the corporation, and the billionaires like Gates, Allen, and Ballmer. I'm talking about the FACT that the AVERAGE employee of Microsoft gives more to charity than any other organization in the world!

PimpDaddy was 100% correct how it is always "Greed," that motivates Microsoft to completely destroy the competition. Remember Netscape...neither do I, lol. Remember Ken Whotugari?...he was the bigmouth that thought the PS3 could put the PC out of business. I'm not sure what the bigger mistake was: (a) being SO WRONG, or (b) making such a bold prediction publicly, which motivated Microsoft to enter the videogame industry, consequently putting the Playstation 3 into a very distant third place in the next-generation of games.

The true advantage that Microsoft gets from this deal is that Microsoft has the ability to employ all of those EXCELLENT Yahoo employees. They will be able to come up with new concepts that will give Microsoft a TREMENDOUS long-term advantage.

blacktiger: Everything you say is the dumbest thing I ever heard. Learn how to use spell check, I kill brain cells everytime I try to decipher that morse code you call typing. I am a Computer Consultant. You would be surprised how many people prefer MSN search, or Yahoo search, or even AOL. I have alot of clients that dont like or use google. It's called preference. Just because you like something doesnt mean everyone else thinks or acts the way you do. For the record I use google search. But if I cant find something on google then I will use MSN.

Dont speak of things you know nothing about. Is Yahoo worth 45 billion??? Not to me, but to Microsoft it is worth that much. They want to compete with Google, and this just goes to show how serious they are. They have the ability to do it so more power to them. It annoys the sh!t out of me having to remove all the google desktop/earth/toolbar/etc... from new computers when I set them up. Google is getting just as bad as AOL, MSN, and Yahoo with trying to integrate into everything on the computer. Which is good for me because I get to charge $100.00 an hour to remove that crap. I cant wait till MSN and Yahoo merge, even more crap for me to remove and make money on.

"I haven't had a lot of time to play videogames for quite a while now, because I have been spending so much time applying for jobs."

lol !!!!!!

thats a good one,im sorry i dont take time to type for u idiot...

yahoo may not worth a lot since u don't pay attention and you one of those ppl who think, yahoo is just a search engine, and tahts probably cost 1 million dollar,

thats how dumb u are oh and ummm if yahoo doesn't worth that much , do you really think M$ woud've known that... by now...

no they know yahoo worth a lot ! CAUSE yAHOO is the only that can compete with google,

DONT CONFUSE YOURSELF.

YAHOO IS JUST INTERNET BASED ! MS is not !

KROGANATO U THINK FANOYS ARE PATHETIC, then isn't it more like your putting yourself down !

lol !!!!!

blacktiger : Did you even graduate grade school with that spelling and grammar? Can you even complete a sentence? Microsoft is paying more than Yahoo is worth to force a take over jacka$$. Of course Yahoo isnt worth that much on the market. They are trying to buy a majority stake in Yahoo so they are driving the price up. This is smart on thier behalf because it means nobody else will compete with them to buy up Yahoo's stock. Shareholders are going to tryi to maximize the value of thier stock. The point is niether Yahoo or Microsoft can compete with google in the sear/online advertising market right now. But combined they can. As I said earlier your a dumba$$ who should just stick to being a Playstation Polesmoker.
Written by blacktiger on 2008/02/03

uh oh some one just called me a jackass, im guessing its a typing war...

LOL
