wait, is that an American billion or European/Rest of the world Billion.

“Microsoft will buy Epic Games for $1 billion this summer,” wrote Travis Moses, assistant editor at GamePro, in the magazine’s new issue.

alright its a us billion, thats not so much then well still a hell of a lot, can't see epic accepting this if true.

won't happen, epic doesn't want the old ball and chain. i don't think they will give up their freedoms as game developers.

But seriously, for MS to own Epic is unimaginable. I would think this is a move to prevent any developer from acquiring an Unreal Engine license to develop games for PS3...if it were true.

nowadays , microsoft seem to want to buy everything.

Microsoft can buy everything, which is why Sony is gonna get owned in the end.

If you can't beat them, just buy them. That is MS through and through. They would buy Sony if they had the money.

and now blue ray section, and then we got electronics, oh and with OLED which is SONY's idea, and there is tons more that sony is actually making hundred percent profits, and not to mention SONY's CD, but with MS they got with internet stuffs not a lot of ppl known, so...

i think we need to find th facts first, but i doubt MS is by huge different with Sony !

blacktiger: Just by stock value alone Microsoft is worth 267 Billion. Sony is worth 46 Billion. All you have to do is is multiply the value of thier stock times the amount of shares available. Sony's per share price is higher at $46.72 vs Microsoft's $28.69 However Microsoft has 9.31 Billion stocks available vs Sony's 1 Billion. Not to mention how much cash Microsoft has in reserve.

remember movie studios always make money no matter what, i mean if they fail they only lose couple production money but if they win which 100 times more than what it cost to make...

and we all know movies studio keep makingmoney, hence Spiderman made 1 billion dollar world in in one month, thats like all the time, and regulary they make 100 million dollar world wide every time they release a shit movie !!!

and then same exaple can be said to any industry,

MS only makes billions from OS and 360, with software, of making billions they have to release something like ADOBE photoshop, the close i can think of is MS OFFICE

umm what else maybe Windows Server, its getting bigger and bigger but thats it...

Yes SOny stocks worth low but remember how much money they get back in return !!!

It's not about sometime how much they worth ! its about how much they get back, too ! getting back in profits doesn't change Stocks all the time !

blacktiger: Pay attention to the quarterly and 1 year fiscal reports. Beleive me Microsoft averages between 40-60 Billion a year in profits on average. Sony could only dream of such numbers.

Spiderman??? You talking about gross revenue, not net profit. Remember that Billion dollar movie worldwide cost a sh!t load of money to make. Then you had advertising, and other associated costs.

I understand the main cash cows for Microsoft are Windows and Office. But they have alot of other divisions that make money, or in some cases cost them money.

Not trying to insult you, but I dont think your grasping the concept of each companies value, and what the real profit/loss numbers are... I think you look at Sony's gross revenues instead of thier Net profit. Remember every dollar that is made from a movie, every electronic, every song, every game that Sony sells is not profit. There are costs to make these products, advertising, distribution, etc... that take away from Sony's bottom line profit number.

I could be wrong, but I have been tracking Microsofts quaterlies for a few years now. And Sony couldnt get a whiff of what Microsoft was making. Why do you think Sony brought in Howard Stringer. You know a Japanese corporation is in trouble when they bring a "Round Eye" to run things...
