	SCE announced today that they have decided to delay the launch of the PSN HOME service, and extended both the open and the closed beta porgrams. The closed beta will now run through Summer 2008, and the open beta will not begin until Fall 2008. Yet more delays Sony? What the hell is going on. PRESS RELEASE Tokyo, April 22, 2008 – Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) announced today that it will expand the Closed Beta testing for PLAYSTATION®Home in Summer 2008, inviting a further number of registrants from the PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3®) users. Following completion of the Expanded Closed Beta test, the PLAYSTATION Home Open Beta service will commence in Fall 2008. “We understand that we are asking PS3 and prospective PS3 users to wait a bit longer, but we have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience than what it is today,” said Kazuo Hirai, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. “Our overarching objective is to provide users with new gaming experiences that are available only on PLAYSTATION Home. Spending more time on the development and on the Closed Beta testing reaffirms our commitment to bringing a quality service, maintaining the PlayStation® tradition.” The PLAYSTATION Home Open Beta service that will become available in Fall 2008 will be built around providing new and fun community gaming experiences. Details of the Closed Beta testing features, registration for the test and the opening of the service will be announced as they become available.

As long as ingame xmb comes out in the next firmware update i'm still happy. This just goes to show you the dedication that Sony has. Unlike MS...Sony is going to make sure their products are perfect BEFORE release.

Typical Sony. Over-promise, under-deliver. Gotta admire the patience and loyalty of the SDF. Waiting for games, force feedback, Brokeback Mountain on Blu-Ray, in game communication and XMB on PSN. HOME. So when exactly is Sony going to join the next generation of videogames with an actual console?

All I see is a PC clone with pre-installs, web browser, Linux, and KB/mouse support. I thought the next generation of videogames begins when Sony says so. Just say when Sony. Just like the SDF and thier PS3's. Were waiting...

Next Generation Console comes out after this E3, you won't be dissapointed, with HOME and Killzone 2, Patient my friend patient otherwise go back to Xbox where they rush , and continue with faulty hardware :p

I bet HOME will have the longest beta ever...

Hello Fellow Gamers. @blacktiger - You mean to tell me That "Next Generation Console(s)" won't be out until E3? I thought that we were already using Nextgen consoles. So, you're saying that the PS3 is already an old has been (as well as the X360). HHHmmmm... so Sony should just stop with what they're doing & concentrate on the PS4? I don't think so.

The X360 & PS3 is just getting started. HOME (Sims Clone) Will be ready sooner or later. Not that I care. But The PS3 Should've had in game XMB, Music, & Voice chat from the start. Not tack it on as firmware updates.

Umm sorry to get you confused but i mean it wont suprise us till E3, with improved graphic and Ai, I mean no games is near Call Of Duty 4, an to reason is that they dont take time, and this time Xbox and PS3 finally giving us another development kit to improve better games by easier adding texture and AI,

So tahts why i am more excited because so far I dont like games from Xbox or PS3, just Call of Duty 4 and MGS4 ( for sure )

Thats what I mean, so far Gears OF war looks impressed, but with first part i never liked the fact that its damn short, because they were focusing on graphic, and due to DVD9 small space, they will announced Hard Drive for sure... and so on,

This year E3 will give us all the details, of what our hardware is about to do next...

Ya DM put up the link. We dont want the SDF getting all butt-hurt up in here just because your website posted the truth. I mean facts are facts. Home has been delayed numerous times. If I were a PS3 owner I would be pissed. If I were still waiting for force feedback, in game XMB, and 4D I would have traded in my PS3 by now. Expecially with PS3's starting to take a dump because of Blu-Ray drives failing.

I was just on N4G yesterday and one of the biggest Sony Salami Sucker's PS3 had to be sent back into Sony. I laughed at him for all the RROD and disc scratching he was throwing at XBOTS's. He has to pay $160.00 for the repair + they want another $160.00 to extend the warranty to 3 years. PS1, or PS2 anyone. It has begun...

At least Microsoft admitted to thier faulty hardware and refunded everyones money for reapirs, extended the warranty for the RROD problem for 3 years, and fixes all failures for free.

Hows that loyalty to Sony treating you guys now???

@sky welcome back.. well you're gonna have to love it for a long while untill the complete games comes on. GTA4 is out in a week or so.. you should skip buying it for the PS3 and Wait a little bit more for MGS4, You said once you had a 360 maybe now would be a good time to start playing it. Don't waste your money on the PS3 version cause if you do, you'll just gonna be playing wishing it had all the features 360 has. But its good to know you are going to be waiting for the final release of HOME,... All can say is.... Keep the Faith, Keep the faith man, Sony... is going to make it ... Keep the faith..

When the PS3 dual-shock was compared to the Xbox 360 controller, the Xbox 360 controller has superior rumble abilities for several fundamental reasons:

(1) The Xbox 360 controller has greater variations of rumble sensitivity. Depending on how hard you get tackled or punched, you will feel it with a larger number of variations on the Xbox 360 controller.

(2) Only two-dozen PS3 games support the rumble feature...so, the PS3 rumble controller is a disappointment by default.

unlike krogan i actually own a DS3 controller AND a 360 controller. the ps3 controller is far superior to me in rumble and design....and motion which the 360 is lacking.

to me I dont care about rumble although i love when it comes to racing...

But i have to tell you the joystic for PS3 is far ten times better than Dual Shock 2 and Xbox 360 controller,

their movement and and aiming is very high sensitive...

very beauty when it comes to FPS !!!

Oh just so u know , Immersion has only one model of the RUMBLE, so no, technically its same, but due to SONY Controller Battery is very HIGH LENGHT, its much stronger buts that all,

For some reason i like the DS3 better , because its always stronger and sensitive, either way I still prefer no Rumble...

Houser said in an interview with 1up that a lack of storage space on Xbox 360 discs and Microsoft's non-mandatory hard drive strategy were "problematic."

"One of the problems with the 360, and it affects games like Grand Theft Auto if you think about how much content we put in the actual machine, is the fact that they don't have a significantly larger storage medium than the previous systems. It's a slightly bigger DVD disc," he said"

Leading UK supermarket Asda has disclosed surprising figures pertaining to the forthcoming Grand Theft Auto IV, revealing that the PlayStation 3 version is outselling the Xbox 360 version to the tune of three to one.

Speaking to trade paper MCV, Asda's head of games Duncan Cross said, "Both titles have generated great interest on the Asda website, with strong pre-orders, and the PS3 version is selling three times that of 360, which is surprising and not in line with what we'd expect."

Rockstar has already given us the answer as to why the PS3 version of GTA4 is outselling the Xbox 360 version in those two tiny markets:

Because those are the exact ratio of games that were shipped to those markets.

Retailers only sell preorders when they can guarantee that customers will get a copy on the first day. And up to this point Rockstar has shipped more copies for the PS3. If more copies would have been shipped for the Xbox 360, then the ratio would not be 3:1. If there were a virtually unlimited number of copies that were shipped to the U.K. and Australia, then the Xbox 360 would be outselling the PS3 version by approximately a 2:1 ratio, just like in other parts of the world where there are virtually unlimited supplies of the game.

If you want to look at it from another point of view, websites exist in the U.K. and Australia, and if you include online retailers in the same group as local retailers, then the Xbox 360 version is still outselling the PS3 version by a 2:1 ratio.

Also, preorders are not the best way of measuring a games success. For example, Call of Duty 4 didn't have a lot of preorders, but look at how its sales shot through the roof by the end of the year. There is no doubt that the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto 4 will outsell the Playstation 3 version by a significant margin.

It's important to remember three things:

First, the Xbox 360 version has exclusive content that can never appear on the Playstation 3. This downloadable contant automatically makes the Xbox 360 version the superior version, because it adds to extra episodes--each with approximately 10 hours of gameplay.

Second, the Xbox 360 version will almost certainly have superior graphics and sound. All along, in all the demos, it is the Xbox 360 version that has been shown. It will be interesting to see what the differences are in the game. If the differences are noticable, like they were in Assassins Creed, Orange Box, and Rainbow Six: Vegas, then the Xbox 360 version will completely dominate the sales, just like it did with the games above.

Third, Microsoft will be spending a LOT of money on marketing GTA4 on the Xbox 360. Rumors say that there will be a price-drop, and in all honesty it would be DUMB not to have a price-drop at that point in time.

By the way, blacktiger, even the Independent Playstation Magazine admits that the Xbox 360 controller is superior to the PS3 dual shock. You are entitled to your opinion, but in their detailed analysis the Xbox 360 controller was rated higher.

Also, Rockstar has been saying that Microsoft should have included a hard drive in all systems ever since the beginning. But Microsoft did the right thing by not including a hard drive in all systems. Developers will ALWAYS say that they want a hard drive as a standard feature; that is WHY Microsoft did that with the original Xbox. However, that is WHY Microsoft came in 2nd place with the original Xbox, since the price of the system was so much more expensive.

There are HUGE markets in the world where there is absolutely no need for a hard drive. This allows Microsoft to sell the system for a MUCH LOWER price than the competition. That's why the European sales of the Xbox 360 have DOUBLED to a VERY IMPRESSIVE rate after the recent drop of price in those markets.

One of the things that annoyed Microsoft a LOT last generation was the FACT that the Xbox was SO MUCH more powerful than the PS2, yet the games were designed primarily for the PS2 and just "remixed" for the Xbox with higher resolution or a faster framerate. Microsoft learned from that.

Rockstar definitely would have been able to include more stuff in GTA4 for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 if Microsoft would have included a hard drive with every system. But there is still PLENTY of room on the dual-layer DVD discs. GTA4 is going to be a looooooong game. And Microsoft actually showed that they are the ones in control this generation. The PS3 has the "extra space" "possibility," but that "possibility" was ABSOLUTELY WASTED, simply because Microsoft decided not to include a hard drive with every Xbox 360. Clearly, Microsoft is in control this generation in the same way that Sony was last generation.

And when the PS3 and Xbox 360 compete on ground that involves "equal space limitations," it means that the Xbox 360 will DOMINATE, because the Xbox 360 hardware is so superior in terms of Polygons, RAM, Lighting, Shading, CPU Threading Structure, GPU, ect...
