E308: Jack Tretton Says MS 'Currying Favor' Over FFXIII Move >
2008/07/16 15:27:58: Posted by DM
Speaking at a roundtable Q&A, Jack Tretton from Sony commented on Final Fantasy XIII's move to a non-Sony exclusive. Even he, apparently, did not know the move was coming. He said he was disappointed for sure, but he also accused Microsoft of "trying to curry favor with third parties." Why that is a bad thing, we are not sure.

As if Sony has never paid for anything...lol. Microsoft never said a word when Sony paid Warmer Bros 400 million to join Bluray exclusively...This is just one of several examples. Jacks just mad because M$ just took another exclusive from the PS3. He should handle it like a man instead of crying...It just makes Sony seem more desperate than they already are.

OOMPA LOOMPA DOOMPADEE DOO

Thats what jack Tretton reminds me of. An Oompa Loompa. We all know Sony has paid for exclusives in the past. Look at how Blu-Ray finally beat HD-DVD. You think Disney, Fox, and MGM were exclusive to Blu-Ray because they liked Blu-Ray better??? The only thing they prefereed was the fat check Sony wrote them for being exclusive. Look at how many 3rd part exclusives from last generation that either jumped ship from Sony to be multiplatform or went exclusive to the 360.

Money talks...

Winning the console race has always been the result of having the largest amount of third-party support.

Xbox 360 has by far the largest amount of third-party support. That's why the Xbox 360 software sales generate more money than the Wii and Playstation 3 combined.

Doing all that you can to attract or "curry" the third-party developers is a smart business move. Currying is literally the action that every coach does when he tries to recruit the best players.
