	According to the latest issue of OPM magazine, Left 4 Dead in indeed coming to the Playstation 3. The article states: "Valve's survival horror game Left 4 Dead is coming to PS3, but EA will be taking on development duties in-house." Wow, EA is going to be porting the game, that's different, huh?

dudeman: I disagree. EA sucks. If EA knew how to make decent games or had any f*cking talent they could port games to the PS3 properly.

Or maybe the PS3 sucks. Maybe if the PS3 was easier to develop for Valve would be doing the port instead.

This is the EXACT same thing that happened with the game called Orange Box.

Here is an update of what happened with Orange Box:

(1) Valve made it 100% clear that they were NOT willing to develop Orange Box for the Playstation 3, because they SPECIFICALLY said that the Playstation 3 was NOT capable of producing graphics on the level that the PC and Xbox 360 were.

(2) Valve SPECIFICALLY said that they were NOT willing to sacrifice the quality of the Xbox 360 version of Orange Box by making the PS3 version the "lead platform."

(3) EA stepped forward and said they had found a development team that was familiar with the complex programming environment of the PS3. This development team said they were happy to develop the Orange Box game for the Playstation 3.

(4) Orange Box was released on the Xbox 360 first, and then two months later on the Playstation 3.

(5) Orange Box received review scores of 95% - 100% on the Xbox 360.

(6) Orange Box received review scores of about 80% on the Playstation 3.

(7) Orange Box was voted Game of the Year...

But only the Xbox 360 version! The Playstation 3 version was very disappointing compared to the Xbox 360 version.

Valve proved that they are one of the best development companies in the industry in 2007. Obviously, the developers at Valve know what they are talking about!

About the orange box for ps3, all the issues were fixed with a patch i believe, but it shouldn't have come down to that. We don't need any other shitty ports from the 360. No thanks....and valve still sucks

To bad Mangina, most multiplatform games come from 360 ports. I just saw video interview with With John Carmack, basically saying it takes double the time to port a game on PS3. Valve is probably saying the same thing and ask EA to port it because they don't have time for that Bullsh!t. I think they are better off working on their next project.

You make an excellent point. Left 4 Dead won PC Game of the Show at this years E3, but we didn't hear anything about a PS3 version of the game.

Whether the game is released for the PS3, it's safe to say the Xbox 360 version will be significantly better, since Valve will be handling the port to the Xbox 360.



Valve has PROVEN that they are one of the best development groups in the videogame industry! Orange Box won Game of the Year in 2007, and Left 4 Dead won PC Game of the Show honors at this years E3. Anytime a developer can release hit games like that on a regular basis, it PROVES that they make great software on the hardware they work with!

EA had "complex minded people" working on "advanced hardware"...and they got their shot at releasing Orange Box for the Playstation 3...it SUCKED compared to the Xbox 360 version!...that's why it is rated so much lower on Playstation 3.

The FACT is that EA makes WAAAAAYYYY more money EACH YEAR on the Xbox 360 than they do the Playstation 3!!!

It's fairly safe to say that you made such an ignorant statement based on EA's financial statement that was recently released where the PS3 made more income than the Xbox 360 for Quarter 1 of 2008...The reason for that is because Xbox 360 makes FAR MORE MONEY for EA during Quarter 2 and Quarter 3, which are BY FAR the BIGGEST QUARTERS for Electronic Arts, because those are the times when most of the Sports games are released!

Here are the real figures. Sony's console has now been the major bread winner for EA since the start of 2008.

PS3 - 139 Million

360 - 81 Million

PS2 - 79 Million

Face it...xbox 360 is the past while the ps3 is the future. EA sees this, NPD sees this, Analysts see this....the only ones that don't see it are the blind 360 fanboys on this site.

Playstation 3 games are always DELAYED to crappy times like Quarter 1...so that plays a role, too!

Add up the numbers FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR, and you will see that the Xbox 360 completely DWARFS the Playstation 3!!!

It's also important to keep in mind "intangibles." For example, the Xbox 360 version of Orange Box generated FAR more Revenue than the Playstation 3 did...but Valve received the credit for the Xbox 360 version, while EA received credit for the Playstation 3 version.

FACE IT: With the Xbox 360 you get games on time in Quarter 2 & 3, but PS3 games are DELAYED until Quarter 4 and Quarter 1.

Obviously it is NOT PROFITABLE to develop games on the Playstation 3. When you generate that much revenue, yet fail to make a profit, you can easily understand why EA LA has cancelled so many games for the Playstation 3.

Don't forget to leave out how Firmware Update 2.4 for the Playstation 3 revealed that ALL MODELS of the Playstation 3 have MAJOR DEFECTS that are waiting to reveal themselves!

Tens of thousands of people experienced defects with their Playstation 3 thanks to Firmware Update 2.4.

Xbox 360 has solved the problem of defective hardware with the Falcon model that was released last year.

At THIS POINT IN TIME the Playstation 3 is the videogame system that consumers NEED to be WORRIED about when they think about potential DEFECTS with hardware!

That LITERALLY means that the Playstation 3 is VERY COSTLY to develop for, which makes it VERY DIFFICULT to earn a profit with the Playstation 3.

That's why SO MANY Playstation 3 games from EA get Cancelled...and that is why games like Command & Conquer, Battle for Midearth 2, and Red Alert are games that EA releases for Xbox 360 and PC, but NOT for Playstation 3!

Even in Quarter 1 of 2008, the Xbox 360 "made more money" for EA.

The term "made more money" refers to Profit, not Revenue.

PS3 may have generated more "Revenue" in Q1 of 2008, but Xbox 360 generated more "Profitable Income."

EA experienced a financial LOSS of over $100 Million dollars in Q1 of 2008...Blame the expensive development of the PS3 more than the inexpensive development of the Xbox 360.
