Denis Dyack 'Not Worried' About Bad Too Human Reviews >
2008/08/19 13:30:24: Posted by DM
Outspoken Silicon Knights man Denis Dyack claims he could care less about the bad Too Human reviews. As you may or may not know, Denis has basically not shut up since the disastrous E3 2006 game demo. Since then, even though the game has literally been redone, he has never stopped criticizing game forums like GAF and other outlets who have been bashing the game since then. Tomorrow we will all find out, it seems.

"Do I think people are going to be critical? Well people already have - people were critical about the game before they'd even played it, so I don't think that's necessarily going to change."

He's correct. It's not the bad reviews he has to worry about. It's the low sales figures.

Actually Dudeman, it's bad review he has to worry too, because apparently, some ppl follow reviews,

Me I dont care, the demo they reveal better the best part, or the video clips better look good...

I knew the reviews were coming based on my time with the game. The camera alone was annoying as hell and broken. Throw in so so controls and you get scores akin to what it's getting.

I'm still gonna gamefly this game at least. It's worth a rental. The reviews have been a mixed bag...

I had fun with the demo. But maybe thats just me. I like these type of games.

The game will sell over a million, so he has nothing at all to worry about.

My biggest worry would be whether or not Microsoft publishes the last 2 games in the trilogy.

People really need to shut up about the game unless they actually have an informed opinion on it.

Yeah the demo was pretty bad and it looks like most reviews are confirming it is pretty representative of the full game.

My thoughts are mixed on this one for several reasons:

* Too Human was originally supposed to be a 4-player game, which really had me excited. A futuristic sort of Gauntlet game like that would have been AWESOME...the game still is really cool being 2-player co-op, but that still isn't as good as 4-player.

* Too Human did take a lot of criticism at the 2006 E3, but it did a good job of gaining a lot of the reputation back in 2007...I think that's why people were hoping for a lot in 2008 when the game launched.

* Kenny K is correct: The Xbox 360 is the #1 system for software sales with the largest number of hardcore games, so Too Human probably will sell very well. I don't know if it will sell 1 million very quickly, but it probably will over the course of its life.

* I also agree with Kenny K about whether or not Microsoft will be interested in publishing the two sequels in the Too Human "trilogy." Microsoft isn't like Sony; Microsoft doesn't make sequels to games that receive poor reviews like Killzone did. Too Human's lowest review scores of "C" can still be considered "average," whereas Killzone received review scores as low as "D," so there is a BIG difference. Only time will tell what happens.

The one thing that does look good for the Too Human sequel being released is the fact than Denis Dyack has said that the sequel likely will be 4-player, and will be a game with a stronger foundation.
