No FFXIII Xbox360 For Japan Confirmed > |

Square has officially confirmed that there will not be a release of the upcoming Final Fantasy XIII on the Xbox360 in Japan. According to an article in Dengeki PS magazine, the MS console users will have to import the title. 360 Japanese users are said to be a bit upset, but not near enough to warrant a release, it seems.

yeah, I don't understand how this is news when this was said during FFXIII's announcement.Doesn't really make much sense IMO since the Euro and American versions will probably have the japanese voices on it. I have a feeling that square might release it in japan after the Euro and USA versions are released.

i wouldnt understand why they wouldn't release it in japan

i guess the 7 people in japan who have a 360 will just have to buy it on the ps3 now

The install base is not worth the effort in japan. It makes perfect sense everywhere else however.

What kind of effort would you need dudeman when the game is already in japanese and the japanese voices/text will be available everywhere else? I understand why it's not going to be released day and date for the 360 in Japan, seeing as how they won't even begin to port the 360 version until it's out in Japan.I could care less and it wouldn't "save" the 360 (even though both high end systems are bombing over there) but it still doesn't make sense to exclude Japan even if it is a later release.

Someone a whole lot smarter than me did the math apparently and thought it wasn't worth it. I can't think of another reason why it wouldn't be released in japan. If you have theories though...shoot.

Honestly, with the say Japanese honor plays out, I think this is Square's way of trying to keep the peace with Sony. I won't jump on the whole money hat idea or anything else like that.I think it's a matter of convenience or honor more than anything else.

yeah you could be right about that.

lol @ me typing with the "say" Japanese honor plays out.Sorry it's supposed to be "way" not "say", I'm on some meds that are screwing up my thought processing

I agree, i'm sure Microsoft is just happy it's being released on the 360, I hightly doubt MS paid them anything. It just makes too much sense these days to go multi-platform, you think game companies give a sh!t who wins between Sony and MS? they just want the most money they can get.
Edit: Please bleep out curse words. Thank you.

I agree with whYte, I dont think MS paid Square !? even if they did, it would be a lot anyways...Beside to me FF franchise is just dying out...

No money was exchanged, this has been hinted at for a while now. Hironobu Sakaguchi over a year ago that the white engine (now called the chrystal tools) was being optimized for the 360. And the FF series is far from dying out, as an RPG fan many of us see it as over rated/hyped, but in the general public's PoV it's nowhere near dying

^^^^^ The latest instalment proves your point. Kudos for FFXII! FF8 still my favourite.

I've always wondered what is the deal with Square giving their games these wierd or totally inaccurate titles?Infinite Undiscovery?Final Fantasy 1-13+?Seriously Square, wtf?
Written by Kenny K on 2008/08/28
Infinite Undiscovery was the name of the game before the publishing was passed over to Square. It was an original IP RPG started by Tri-Ace for Microsoft. Microsoft handed the publishing deal over to Square since they had more experience with RPGs, but MS still holds the rights to the IP. The name itself is supposed to have meaning related to the game, describing a world with infinite undiscovered places.Final Fantasy came from the fact that Square was on the brink of bankruptcy and it was supposed to be Mr. Sakaguchi's last game. At the time the first FF may have been thier final game if it wasn't a success.
