360 Outsells Wii In Japan >
2008/09/17 8:36:41: Posted by DM
According to Enterbrain, with the benefit of the price cut and the new bundle, as well as a major RPG release (Infinite Undiscovery), it seems the 360 has temporarily outsold the Wii. A pretty impressive achievement for the MS console, especially in Japan. We will see if it lasts.

Of course it won't last. Nintendo dominates Japan.

Except for the PSP.

Yeah, the psp really impressed me over there. It's one of the few instances where a jump in sales has really been sustained.

As for the news, eh, it won't last and as long as I keep getting my RPGs, I could care less.

AWESOME, let 360 and PS3 overtake wii...
Written by VaeVictus on 2008/09/17

It won't happen blacktiger. Despite the insane lack of quality software & online services the Wii will only continue to sell like crazy. The PS3 and 360 will see spurts here and there (software release/price cut related) but the Wii will continue on it's path...inexplicably.
Written by madgunde on 2008/09/17

Yeah, the Wii completely confuses me. I mean I get it's the kind of kimicky fad-like thing that people will buy because they saw it at their friends house and had a lot of fun. And I get that it's got a cheap entry price point (well, cheaper than a PS3 or standard 360, although the Arcade is now cheaper). But holy crap does it ever get expensive once you by a few accessories for it, and that's before you really consider it's limitations. My guess is if not for Wii Fit, which is more exercise equipment than it is game, the Wii's sales would have tapered off more. I bought a Wii just for Wii fit. I have no interest in it for gaming. I suspect I'm not the only one.

And you call yourself a true gamer.

The limits of fun to be had on the Wii are only bound by the amount of bias a gamer has against it.
Written by VaeVictus on 2008/09/17

I am a true gamer. My problem with the Wii is that it is overpriced technology that has 0 software that interests me with the exception of maybe 2 games.

....and that's a big maybe.
Written by Xenos on 2008/09/17

Well I was joking about the true gamer part. It's fine if some people don't care for the Wii, but to go on about accessories that aren't required or to talk about the system's limitations when the system is hardly pushed is just grasping for straws not to like the Wii.

But the second part of my comment holds true. I'm sure if the conduit were on the ps3, some people would be much more interested in it. See the relation?
Written by VaeVictus on 2008/09/17

Conduit looks to be ok, but with so many FPS' it's hard for me to say it'd take precedence over any other FPS offering on either the PS3 or 360 to be honest.

The Wii is a machine that 3rd parties tend to see as a means of making a quick buck. Nintendo's 1st party titles have long since been a bore to me, though they may be of high quality. If I'm going to fork over $250+ for a console, I want to SEE it. Otherwise I can go buy a PS2 or Xbox 1 (or use the BC on my PS3/360) to play games that look like Wii titles. I'd venture to say that a majority of Wii titles are shovelware, the ones that aren't look dated. As I've said a million times, once the Wii is more appropriately priced ($129-$149) I'll buy one. Until then, the PS3 and 360 will see my $$$.

Half of the 6 good titles on the Wii are ports, the others are Nintendo 1st party titles.

Oh, and I already look like enough of an idiot, I don't need herky jerky gyrations of using a Wii Waggle Harry Potter Pedo-wand to make me feel like an idiot.

:-D

Of course this is all just an opinion, but I find a lot of value in the Wii even at it's current price. Value should be perceived on how much fun can be had on the platform and there are plenty of games worth playing IMO.

Wrong topic though, sorry for throwing it off, MS deserves a pat on the back for this, or at least a golf clap for this short victory. I know I never expected to see this happen.

Actually guy's I heard lot of things about Wii, is not being touch to play after buying the hardware...

Which kind of not suprising but the question is, does itlook anywhere slowing down?

I dont think so

360 sold more consoles than Wii during the hour from 6-7 am on a wednesday the night after a full moon ...

Has 360 even sold 1 million consoles in japan?

Wow, thats EXACTLY how i feel about 360/ps3 ... exactly.

@ tr1p1ea

So what EXACTLY do you play?

Ravin Rabbids?
Written by madgunde on 2008/09/18

I see the Wii like I see my old PC. Yeah, there are a lot of great games I could play on it, but they're going to feel like old games and that's going to impact my experience because I'm used to better graphics/higher resolution. I'm just not one of those gamers that enjoys playing older games (with outdated graphics) for anything other than nostalgic reasons. Since games on my PS3 and computer look so much better and are far more technically complex, I just don't find myself attracted to the Wii at all for gaming, just like I'm not attracted to the PS2 or my old XBox anymore. Now I'm not saying there isn't any value in it for others or that others can't find it really enjoyable, I just don't. I'm actually getting kinda tired of the wand interface for selecting stuff on screen. All feels like a child's toy to me. Not meaning to be insulting, that's just my honest feeling when I use it.

MadGunde: That was pretty good. Kind of feels like how I am towards women I have dated in the past. I grew up in a small town. So when I go to visit my parents who still live there I end up running into alot of these women. But when I see them I am no longer attracted to them. Because I already dated them and know what they are all about.

So basically playing the Wii is like dating an ex girlfriend. Though it can be fun at times because you already know what to say, what to do, it's still the same girl, and you eventually get bored and we all know once a man gets bored with a woman, it's over.

Which is why dating the hot girl you just met is like the 360/PS3. She has untapped potential. You dont know what to say or do. You dont know here personality yet. You dont know how she looks without makeup. All you know is that she looks GOOD. I mean REAL GOOD. So you would rather play with her because it's new and exciting, instead of going back to an ex girlfriend because you have already done that and if it was still fun you would still be doing it...

LOL, PimpDaddy. I guess it's kinda like that.
