Um, no.

MS' hasn't sold 6 million since the price drop, they have sold 6 million in total of all of Europe.

What will make a bigger difference is the marketing. MS is finally realizing that they need to change their image in some countries, and they are supposed to provide "launch level" advertising for all of Europe.

They have already matched the original xbox' install base in less time, so while they aren't going to catch up to Ninty, it's still an improvement.

You know I heard they double their sales in US, and barely beat PS3 by 10, 000 units, they were hoping to beat by couple of hundred of thousands but it only jumped 10, 000 units ahead.

So its actually a dissapointment... For 360 !

blacktiger: can you tell me what month this was from in the US? Also what were the 360's sales the month before, provide links, etc...

Otherwise I claim FUD. I cant seem to remember any month where the 360 only sold 95,000 consoles. But your welcome to back up your figures.

If you are talking about last month's numbers blacktiger, it really isn't a good barometer to measure the success as the price drop was towards the very end of the month. It'll see significant growth in September sales. Sony will definitely have to do something to counter the price drop. The 360 is now the cheapest next gen (though in my opinion, it always was the cheapest next gen system as the Wii is not "next gen") console on the market and they have a strong fall/winter of software coming.

The price drop wasn't even in effect until Sept. 7th, so blacktiger is WAY off, as usual.

I don't think he's spreading FUD, it's too stupid to be FUD, I think he's here for comic relief.

blacktiger, all I'm asking is for the link for proof. You can't post things "you've heard" and expect everyone to believe it. I'm a pro PS3 guy, but I like to see facts in this case, not read/hear speculation. We'll see next month when NPD releases their figures.

Like I said for his statement to be true Microsoft would have had to sell 95,000 units the month before for it to double in sales to 190,000 and then only beat the PS3 by 10,000 sales like he claims.

Yet no month, no year, no solid links to back up his claims. So either he needs to invest in some Q-tips, or just admit he has no idea what he is talking about.

In fact I found the actual facts to show that BlackTiger is absolutely 100% incorrect.

NPD's Top Hardware Sales in July:
Nintendo DS – 608,400
Nintendo Wii – 555,000
Sony PlayStation 3 – 224,900
Sony PlayStation Portable – 221,700
Microsoft XBox 360 – 204,800
Sony PlayStation 2 – 155,500

NPD's Top hardware Sales in August:
Nintendo DS - 518,300
Nintendo Wii - 453,000
Sony Playstation - 185,400
Sony Playstation Portable - 253,000
Microsoft Xbox 360 - 195,200
Sony Playstation 2 - 144,100

So as you can see from the month of July to the month of August the 360 actually sold less units. The PS3 outsold the 360 in July and the 360 outsold the PS3 in August. Nowhere does it show 360 sales doubling but only managing to outsell the PS3 by 10,000 units. BlackTigers weak attempt at spreading FUD has officially been destroyed. Game Over.

I think the 360 is going to see a significant boost in sales. I just read somewhere that Blu-Ray movie sales are actually declining. Blu-Ray players are still expensive, Blu-Ray movies are still expensive, Our economy is heading south in a hurry, and all of a sudden that $199.00 price tag for a next generation console looks attractive.

I'm thinking this generation of consoles with the exception of the Wii arent going to sell as well as the previous generation. Not when you have to factor in the higher price of the consoles, HDTV's, gigher price of accessories and games, and the explosion of handheld gaming.

Until you have hard numbers of sales in Europe, you can't say anything about how much Sony is "slapping" MS. Seeing as how there are no reliable sources for all of Europe when it comes to sales, you're just talking out of your @ss.

BTW an open mind would be able to see how they are wrong instead of turning tail and hiding when proven wrong.
