360 Outsells PS3 In Japan Again, But Nintendo Reigns Supreme >

	Another week has gone by, and the Xbox360 has apparently outsold the PS3 in Japan again. Of course, neither next-gen console outsold the Nintendo systems, but that would be quite a feat. For the week ending October 5, the Media Create numbers show that the XBox360 is barely outselling the PS3 by a mere 1000 units. The Xbox360 sold 8271 and the PS3 sold 7232, while the old workhorse PS2 beat them both with 8618 units sold. As we said, the Wii sold 25,330 units and the DS sold a whopping 43,385 units. Nintendo reigns supreme in Japan, and it looks like that will continue right through the Holiday season. >Link

Can't wait to see the damage control for this one.

As long as I keep getting my RPGs, I can care less to how good or bad any system does in japan.

PS2 still doing it.. shows sony's commitment for the long haul. 8 years from now the ps3 will be doing the same thing. it will be smaller, slimmer sleak and cheap.. its in sony's DNA

Personally it's sad if your last gen offering is outselling your current gen offering, kinda puts a damper on the current situation.

Never said Sony would abandon anything. Just pointing out that it's not a sign of progress when your new and better product is being outsold by your old and dated product. Sony has no choice but to support the ps3 for the long haul, they lost too much money on it to just let it go too soon. Isn't that what you call, sony playing their cards right?

Xenos, you and I know these PS3 fans are a fucking joke, Sky, & FagTiger, were to first to point out that the ps3 will never be outsold by the 360 in the past because thats sony land, now its being outsold by the 360, its all sudden ok and they want all console to sell well. I don't know if this is a effect of Sony same the same thing, but lets face it these two guys are a true definition of Sony Zombies. I'm surprised that they haven't said anything about RROD yet.

exactly sony is playing there cards right.. considering there the only company out of the 3 with last gen hardware selling a ton.. this is partially why we see such great games from sony's first party.. the ps2 is a cash cow and helps fund development.. I expect the PS3 to be one as well years from now

Ummm the losses by the ps3 have already wiped out all of the profit made by the ps2, so no that's not the case.

right but the ps2 is continuing to make a profit.. so is the psp and now recently the PS3.. they will get those profits back easily. In time. I expect they will be deep in the black by the time the PS3 ceases production. this is a marathon not a race.

Not really Pop, this is kinda of special, we are talking about weekly sales in Japan about the 360. Sony and Nintendo land. As gamer you have to admit we didn't see this coming. Last month the 360 outsold PS3 on a weekly then it became outsold through the month, lots of people is watching to see if this is going to happen again.

Sky give your neck and tonsils a rest already. If the 360 beats the Ps3 in sales you guys (FagTiger) always find a way to fall back on the PS2 sales. Like that really matters now.

Sony themselves said that their business model wasn't the best and honestly IMO Sony has become a better company by learning from their mistakes made this gen. Why anyone would argue this is beyond me.

HD gaming in general is doing bad in japan.. if there was a steady flow of HD games coming out the PS3 and 360 would do much better

Just look at how many HD games are released every month in the USA and europe .. then compare that to japan. Its like Night and Day.. this is not sony's fault. 3rd parties are WAY BEHIND

Sony has said this, Kojima, and Wada from Square.. Next gen console will continue to under perform there until 3rd parties catch up.. Until then its handheld/ wii ps2 land.. japan devs will get there eventually

gaming is gaming, HD or not.

and gaming isnt struggling because third parties are, its because MS is an outsider, they will rarely get embraced in a conservative place like Japan where very few products from outside have done well, MS has had the games, and the content.

as for Sony, i have the feeling that people there want to go on and get it, but ninty is on a roll, and pricing doesnt really help Sony.

Gaming is not gaming in japan.. if you look at every gaming region, japan is vastly different.. hand held markets rule. that market is by far getting the most support for 3rd parties. no one can deny that.. next is the wii/ps2 followed by and far behind is PS3/360. this has nothing to do with fanboyism. its really not hard to see.

This is why Sony game out and said recently they want to 360 to perform better in japan. they want to see HD markets take off like the rest of the world

The fact that something positive came from Sony about the 360 selling in Japan. Is Admitting that the 360 a definite contender and not the xbox 2.5 they taunted it to be in the beginning. Hey if you can't beat them Join Them. They want HD to do better because their who PS3 stands in HD, they want Blu-ray to do better.

if you werent so blind, you would see that developers even over there acknowledge the fact that the ps3 is expensive, and the know that the 360 being an ouside console does not gel well with the japanese gamer.

so where do they invest? the wii, home market console that has an acceptable price point, and is doing rather well, then the ps2, last gen console with huge following, and guess what, its also japanese.

the handheld market is huge there, so why not indulge in developing for them?
