Gashi! As most fans would say, I congratulate Tecmo for resurrecting the awe inspiring Ninja Gaiden for the third time. For those unfamiliar with its past, Ninja Gaiden began many years ago, way before many of you recent fans were born. Ninja Gaiden or Ninja Ryukenden as it was known in the arcades, started out on the NES from developer Team Ninja and publisher Tecmo. The game was therefore resurrected years later on the Xbox with the new known name of Ninja Gaiden. With no surprise, the game was a smash hit and therefore stimulated Team Ninja to re-release the Xbox version a second time, titled Ninja Gaiden: Black. One year after Black was released; Tecmo was determined to transport Ninja Gaiden: Black to the notorious Playstation 3. Suitably, Ninja Gaiden: Sigma was born.

For the unfamiliar minds, Ninja Gaiden is an action-adventure game where you control Ryu Hayabusa, a descendant of the Dragon Lineage. Ryu's duty, is to avenge the burning of his village, seek out the Fiend Doku, and recover the Dark Dragon Blade. Throughout your journey, you will run into many colorful characters. You will also be given the chance to play as Rachel, the Fiend Hunter. You will only play a few main missions as her. But really, most of her actions take place in the unlockable "mission mode". Her story will be done in a total of 4 chapters, whereas, the remaining 16 will be devoted to Ryu's story.

Moving along, I'm sure that we all would agree that the graphics in this game are exceptional. For those who have not seen it firsthand, you will be flabbergasted. Ninja Gaiden will definitely be one the more beautiful looking games that's out for the PS3. The game is vibrant and full of color, and the attention to detailed will put you in a daze. No matter what your TV supports, Team Ninja has got your back. The box assures us that the game supports 480p, 720p, 1080p, and 1080i, so no worries there. The game runs on 1080p natively and maintains 60fps during combat sequences, cinematics, and platform alike. All in all, the graphics is what really makes the game so much more admirable and still is able to live up to its name in this third round.

Furthermore, the game controls are somewhat simple and once mastered can be deadly. The game has the right kind of difficulty. At first, the battles you will encounter will lead you to exterminate your enemies by haphazardly mashing all your buttons, seeing moves that you thought you can never do. But, as journey continues, you will find that mashing is not the answer to winning all battles. The game requires skills and not behavior like a drunken master. Most importantly you will need persistence. Believe me, you will have many attempts as you go through stages, but this will increase your skills making you better and better. The game is very fast paced and skill is surely recommended. Surely, your enemies will out rank you in higher levels if you are not fully skilled. Just like Prince of Persia, you main guy is able to run across the walls to get through gaps or confuse your enemies as well as jumping higher by running towards the walls and jumping. Ryu maneuvers these skills with such flow that causes excitement.
