The graphics in the game are, well they are Amped graphics. As you have seen by the screenshots, the game itself really does not take a huge graphic leap from Amped 2 on the Xbox. The models and animations are the similar, some are even identical to the motions in Amped 2. The impressive thing about the graphics of this game on the Xbox360 is the draw distance. You can pretty much see as far ahead as you could ever want, assuming your TV is big enough. This certainly helps add to the illusion of realism. The frame rate also was pretty steady, even with many other AI skiers and boarders on screen, as well as moving chairlifts and animals. Once again, we have an Xbox360 game that, unless you know exactly what to look for, does not impress graphically.

The world in Amped 3 is huge. When we say huge, we mean huge. The maps could probably hold all of the routes in Amped 1 and 2 combined. This can sometimes be overwhelming, but thanks to an easy to use trail map, you can pretty much warp to any point on the map. If you cannot warp, the game will set a waypoint for you to a chairlift or tow rope that will put you on the right path to where you need to go. It makes navigating the game very easy. There are seven mountains in total, and they are all excessively large.

The controls in Amped are clunky. There is no two ways about it. If you are used to the fast moving, instant response controls from games like SSX, you will surely be disappointed here. For instance, there are special style moves that will require you to move the analog stick just slightly off center, and hold it for a few seconds before the style trick begins. We cannot stress how annoying this is while you are trying to navigate through the air and use the trigger to spin around. It is control choices like this that make the interface so awkward.

One of the things that we thought was a great addition is the ability to pull out a sled at any point in the game (once u have progressed past a certain point) and used it to whisk down the mountain on your belly. This is a great distraction from the main storyline, and if you just need to blow off some steam. They have also added a snowmobile mode for zipping around the mountain on a gas powered machine. This is fun as well, both of these features make for a nice distraction when you cannot pass that one section of the game and you want to smash your controller.
