Rumble Roses XX

This time around the game also features a tag team mode. Thus the double X in the game name. I know, it certainly has sexual undertones, but I assure it, there is no outright sex in Rumble Roses Double X. You can put your opponent through tickle torture if they lose, or make them parade around in a string bikini, but there is no outright sex – but I digress. The tag team mode is done well, and each player has a double-team move that can be unleashed when the finishing gauge is filled. This is certainly a welcome addition to the game.

The online portion of the game pretty much consists of head to head and tag team matches. The interface is a bit clunky, but once you get into a match online, there is no lag to speak of. Yukes certainly should have included a better lobby mode in the game, but then again, it is more than likely that most people who play this game online are not going to hang out in a lobby to chat. At least, not until they have had their fill of real women, then again, I may be completely wrong. Overall, I prefer the online play in Dead Or Alive 4, but that is only because I am not a fan of wrestling games. If you are a fan of wrestling games, the online play in RRXX should be more than enough.

The graphics in the game are probably the most eye-catching part of the game. The overall presentation is great as well. The character models, as you already know, are very impressive, but that is just the beginning. The arenas, rings, and settings in the game are just as impressive, and combined with the pre and post-match sequences, it makes for a great overall package. There is no doubt that these women are probably the most appealing bits of pixel you will ever see put to disc. It is interesting to note that while the girls are certainly over-the-top sultry, they also have an air of realism that is impossible to miss. While playing the game you will surely find yourself saying “holy cow” when one of the girls pile-drives or tombstones her opponent. That is not to say that there is no graphical popup or clipping – there is enough that you will notice it, but it does not ruin the experience. On top of this Konami and Yukes have programmed in costume variants for all the girls so if you get bored of looking at one outfit (or not looking at it), you can swap it for another bit of string and dental floss.

The audio in any fighting or wrestling game usually takes a back seat since it is not as immediately noticeable as the audio in other genres like FPS games. This holds true for Rumble Roses XX. First of all there is no match commentary, something that would have certainly been a very welcome addition to the game. While the game, as I have said already, is a visual feast, the audio portion just does not deliver the same oomph. The girls themselves do not even say much, each girl has only a few lines of dialogue outside of their pre-programmed intro sequences. The soundtrack that goes along with the game is adequate, with songs ranging from punk-metal to rap to acid-lounge. The intro track for the game is probably the best song in the entire game.
