According to an article posted over at the Hollywood Reporter, Hollywood is starting to pull away from the PSP UMD movie format. According to one studio exec, despite the numbers Sony touts, the UMD movies sell next to nothing. In fact one exec goes so far as to call it "another Sony bomb -- like Blu-ray." We always thought the UMD sales numbers were high, tsk tsk Sony!

Sony has announced that beginning March 22, consumers will be able to purchase the Sony PSP for just $199.99. This is pretty much a bare-bones hardware package, but users will get the basics needed to use and charge the system. Finally, we get a base package here without all the frilly garbage.
