I like how you comment negatively on every Wii news article you reply to. Almost as if you were personally offended by the console.

Actually im more inclined to think that you're offended by its sales figures. Especially when you felt so safe 2 years ago.

It sells hardware because lots of people buy it for the novelty factor and then leave it gathering dust. In fact most of the people I know who bought one have done this.

This statement seems to contradict the statements made at the E3 presentation about Wii music. I mean, they were selling it like anyone could make great sounding music, and the demo kind of supported this. Unless they've gone back and made changes to it, which is possible.

I happen to agree that the Wii is overpriced compared to the 360/Wii and I selling mainly because of the novelty factor and the perception that it's less expensive. Anyone who's bought one with a few accessories (ie: Wii fit) quickly realizes that this isn't the case.

That being said, what it costs compared to the others doesn't so much matter as long as you get use out of it. I use mine just for Wii Fit about 4 times per week and think I'm seeing results, so as a fitness tool, the money was worth it. I have no interest in playing games on it since the type of games I want to play are better on my PS3.

I'm not sure how the Wii's sales have made me feel less safe.

I'm happy that there are Wii owners who are happy with their purchase. I tend to fall in the crowd who think like Matt stated. It's cheap, and the non traditional gamer crowd along with the multiconsole gamer crowd have left it to collect dust.

I have a friend who was a Wii fanboy. Sure, he was happy to play Mario 56, Zelda 89 and Super Smash Brothers 15, but aside from that, while I was playing CoD 4, Mass Effect, Halo 3, MGS4, Crackdown, Gears of War, Resistance Fall of Man, Oblivion, GH3/RB w/ downloadable content he was stuck with Medal of Honor and Ravin Rabbids. It's easy to see why after about 6 months he traded it in. We used to have this exact same argument, lol.

The Wii is an awesome console, appeal means everything towards your perception or bias.

I know for a fact that there are more games on the market and VC for the Wii to keep me occupied than the ps3 but that doesn't make it any more or less of a console than the ps3.

I'm far from ignorant of what is out there. For much less cost, I could go buy another PS2 or a Gamecube and enjoy basically the same quality of games minus a control scheme (motion) I care nothing about.

Why did you think I was directing my comment towards you? Trust me, if I direct my comment towards anyone, I include their name. There are a lot of people that are ignorant to what's out on the Wii. People complain that there are no games on the Wii, then when games are presented they either scoff at the games or complain that these games would be better on console X. It's all very asinine and if the Wii wasn't such a smash hit, it wouldn't be receiving this amount of negative attention from the "hardcore" gamers.

As for your comment about getting a GC or PS2, I could also say that I can get a Wii which is worth the price considering the amount of games worth playing not only for the Wii itself, but also for the GC where you don't have to use the Wii controller. When the ps2 is $150, the $100 difference really isn't that huge in the world of gaming when you consider that you can play last gen and current gen games on the Wii.

The tech in the console should not be the only defining factor to what justifies the price of said console, games of interest should be a more important factor when considering the pricing of consoles. A console can have the best tech in the world but if there isn't shit to play on it, then it's not worth $10.

I love how on the 'internet' youd think Wii hadnt sold a single console. Funniest part is, its the fact that the majority of their 'promoted' games arent carbon copies of decade old generic shooters that plays a part in its success.

To be fair tr1p1ea, no one relies on decade old generic shooters for their success.

I agree that anyone claiming there are no games for the Wii is out of touch with reality. The real problem is that there are too many games for the Wii, and the majority of them are crapware. That doesn't mean that there aren't some gems in there (most of which are made by Nintendo themselves), but it is the reality I think. I seem to recall someone had done some research and the average metacritic score of Wii titles was considerably lower than those of 360 or PS3 titles. So Wii owners definitely have to do their homework to avoid wasting money on crappy games.

As for the hardware dictating the price, I disagree with you there. The price should reflect the technology being used to a certain extent and people have every right to feel that the Wii is overpriced for what you get compared to a 360 or PS3. Nintendo has every right to charge whatever they want for their product especially if it's selling well. They have no reason to adjust the pricing at this time. But smart consumers should definitely take the technology into account (among other factors) when deciding what to buy, because in this respect the 360 and PS3 are far stronger offerings.
