This time, it is not so much of a player exploit, as an actual game bug. It seems that when players log in to certain server, the ammo counter is broken, and players can fire as much as they want. EA Said 'We Wouldn't Have Done MW2 Airport Scene' Tue, 15 Dec 2009 18:30:00 -0600 EA says they "wouldn't have done" the infamous Russian airport scene in Modern Warfare 2. A producer in the Montreal office told CVG during an Army of Two: 40th Day interview that Infinity Ward took things a little too far with the scene, but he respects them for being "gutsy." He went on to say that the scene got posted before the game's release, and out of context it looked even more horrible. True. Halo: Reach Trailer Real Time Says Bungie Tue, 15 Dec 2009 14:32:18 -0600 To put the internet naysayers to rest, Bungie has reaffirmed that the Halo: Reach trailer is indeed from the game itself. The game looks so much better than previous Halo games, many claimed it was not actual game footage. Bungie says it does, though. Then again, they said it was from the game "for all intents and purposes." A bit ambiguous, to say the least. The trademark is for use with video games and other devices. The paperwork for the trademark went through on October 20, 2009, and it was just released in the Japanese public database yesterday. Nintendo has registered trademarks for Cii, Bii, and Yii as well back in 2007, but this seems a bit late to protect a Wii typo. Then again, who knows. Rumor mill for now. Sega Still Appealing Australian Aliens Vs. Predator Rating Tue, 15 Dec 2009 12:39:18 -0600 Sega is still fighting the non-classification of its Aliens Vs. Predator game in Australia, where it was refused a 15+ age rating, which is the highest available for AU games. This, of course, means that the game can not be released down undah. Sega has stated it will not censor the game, and has applied to have the rating reviewed. Since there is no 18+ rating, it is widely known that the Aussies are generally more liberal with game content ratings than their counterparts in the UK or US, and Sega maintains the game is still suitable for the 15+ rating. We will see by next week, most likely. Left 4 Dead 2 First DLC Brings L4D1 Survivors Back Tue, 15 Dec 2009 12:34:18 -0600 Valve has announced the first DLC pack for Left 4 Dead 2. "The Passing" download pack for the game will be released in early 2010, and it has a nice surprise. The DLC will bring back the original Left 4 Dead survivors from the first game down south, to meet with the L4D2 survivors. There will also be a new single player, multiplayer, and co-op gameplay campaigns for both Xbox360 and PC. Great news! More 2D Mario On The Way Mon, 14 Dec 2009 18:21:33 -0600 The new Super Mario Bros. on the Wii will not be the last 2D Mario game, apparently. Satoru Iwata revealed this in the latest "Iwata Asks" article. He said that more 2D Mario titles will be made along the lines of the latest 4-player affair, which was a fantastic game by the way. We all know how good those usually turn out. TRON: Evolution will be released for the Xbox360, PS3 and PC, and will hit the shelves next Christmas. Yes, a full year from now. The TRON: Legacy film is scheduled to hit theaters around the same time, and the game fills in the blank between the two films. In a recent interview with Nikkei Japan, the SCE technology platform boss Masayuki Chatani said that the company will "face difficulties" if it becomes dependent on the "sell-and-forget" model. He went on to say that servers have running costs, and because of this, Sony can "accept payment in a growing number of ways. He even dismissed Gran Turismo 5 as competition. He joked about GT launching next year, as we all know it has been oft-delayed. He said "I've seen years and years of mini-games, but I haven't seen that the game is done. They just released the PSP version - maybe that's what they've been working on. Modern Warfare 2 Javelin Glitch Patched Today Fri, 11 Dec 2009 12:52:34 -0600 The Javelin glitch for the Xbox360 version of Modern Warfare 2 will be patched today, folks. The patch was submitted to MS a few days ago by Infinity Ward for approval, and it passed certification a little while ago. That means that it should go live any time now, as it was set for Friday morning in PST time. Keep an eye out. Harmonix Says No Projects Affected By Layoffs Fri, 11 Dec 2009 11:11:20 -0600 There were 39 layoffs at Harmonix today, according to reports on the internet. The decision was a business call, says EA, and totally unrelated to any sales figures or performance. Harmonix did say that there will be no effect on upcoming games, so that is good if true. Then again, if the division was selling games like crazy, we doubt anyone would have been laid off at all. Dead Space 2 First Details Thu, 10 Dec 2009 16:48:17 -0600 Game Informer released a new issue today with an article containing the first details on Dead Space 2. Some of the higher-lights are as follows. The game will be set three years after the original, and the action will not be confined to a single ship like the first game. The outbreak this time happens in a densely populated space station. Also, Isaac will now be able to control is direction in zero-g, as well as shoot mid-air. The game is said to be "scarier," but with much better pacing than the first, which was one of the original game's only drawbacks. To top it off, there is a hint at a multiplayer mode! EA CEO John Riccitiello may have slipped up while speaking at a conference in NYC this morning, and named the Sony Motion Controller. At the UBS 37th annual Global Media Conference, he mentioned Natal, and then mentioned something called "Gem" from Sony. No shock there. He did say that the new Zelda on Wii will me a marked improvement, picking up where the last Zelda left off in terms of objectives. Aonuma said that they set out to create the most vast and realistic world the series had ever seen, but they did not reach this goal. This will be the starting point for the next Zelda on Wii. EA Makes Dead Space 2 Official Tue, 8 Dec 2009 17:38:55 -0600 EA has confirmed the rumors swirling on the internet for a while now by officially announcing Dead Space 2. The game is the sequel to the sleeper hit from last year, and it will be released on PC, PS3, and Xbox360. The hero, Isaac Clarke, will return, and this time he will have all new tools to "slice and dismember" the baddies. He will take the fight to the Necromorph heart, it seems.
