The options mode is just that, options. You can setup the look of your character in multiplayer mode, set up your controller, and set the general game options. The multiplayer avatar setup is a bit clunky, I must say, when you select a new outfit or kit you must hit accept and then return to the parent menu before you can see the new choice. Even then, it is sprite-based still images, rather than on-the-fly 3d previews. Why they used sprites in this day and age is beyond me. The controller setup unfortunately is very lacking. You cannot set any buttons, and when it comes to sticks, you can only pick normal, lefty, and lefty-goofy. You can toggle the Y axis and adjust the sensitivity, but, like many games, full controller config is a pipe-dream. Why developers cannot take the 10 minutes time to add a fully configurable control set is something I will never understand. The game options are rudimentary as well, you can set the brightness, combat volume, and the local split screen mode, vertical or horizontal. Take note though, you can only use vertical split if you are using your Xbox360 in HD widescreen. Far Cry Predator has its flaws, to be sure, but the game itself is still a ton of fun. The single player mode is worth one-night of gaming fun, but the multiplayer mode could potentially last you months. While there are only four total mp modes, the map-editor ensures that you will never get bored of the maps. I can recommend this game for purchase as long as you are someone who enjoys FPS multiplayer gaming. Otherwise, give the game a rent and play through it in a day or two just to get in on the Far Cry experience. |
