Castlevania series producer Koji Igarashi, who often appears in public with a cowboy hat and a whip and is known to fans by his nickname IGA, spoke with Gamasutra about the DS and how 2D is not quite dead yet. He talks about the new title, Order of Ecclesia, and what the future holds.

I love 2D games and new consoles allow 2D to be much higher resolution and to add amazing effects so 2D should continue to fight on. Some series never successfully moved into the 3rd dimension in my opinion and should have been left in the 2D world.

hell yeah, and some 2D games are just down right better than then the 3D ones.
