That makes sense. This will sell on hype, and you don't want anything to taint that.

they stated this a while ago in an ign podcast. I think it was ign, it was downloadable on xbox live.

a demo would be nice.. im still not convinced.. if they feel the "hype" will be tainted by a demo... then theres a problem...

lost planet gained even more hype after the E3 demo was released

IMO

Lost planet gameplay and story creativity >>> gears of war

FTL. Are they afraid? Is this like when a movie is going to be bad, so it is not prescreened? I doubt it, but still.

Yea, its lame that they are letting this sell based on hype alone. In the long run, its bad for MS; kind of like crying wolf too many times. Remember the hype around PDZ; the next Halo for 360!

If the game is worth the hype then they should put out or shut up (ie. stop hyping); show us the goods, what are they afraid of? Another PDZ?

But, they're a business. They're in it for the money and this is the best way to make the most money; so, i cant really blame them for being lame.

or, think of it this way. 2 yrs ago the idea of a demo wouldn't have ever come up, so now 2 yrs later we 360 lovers are spoiled by the idea of every game having a demo. Some companies don't do that, so get over it.

Sounds like a corporate response Rubix. If you hype a game like this one has been, stop trying to hide it. Much like Sony's Killzone, let us see it, play it. If the are so confident in the game, it shouldn't be a problem to demo it.

I see it from your point of view, and I also know that Halo2 didn't have a demo, and that was pretty f-ing good too

What's the big deal? The game will be out in less than a month. If you're that worried about it not living up to the hype, DON'T buy it and wait for the demo that will be released after the retail release. They've already announced the demo is coming AFTER the game is in stores. I think most of you forget that big name/much hyped games never have demos. If you guys believed there was going to be a pre-release demo for this game you probably think there's going to be a pre-release Halo 3 demo too.

sharod

your a fool to compare Gears to the halo franchise

halo has lived up to the hype.. gears hasent. and prolly wont be any where near halos magnitude

Sky you're a fool not to read what I was saying in my post.

"If you guys believed there was going to be a pre-release demo for this game you probably think there's going to be a pre-release Halo 3 demo too. "

Why would we think that when halo series has proved itself vs Gears of war?

You will attract more flies w/ honey than vinegar. Give gamers what they want, in this business, it translates to success. If the game is as good as hyped, a prerelease demo would only do more to sell the game. People play it, realize that it is awesome, you sell it out on release. Holding the demo until after release really doesn't make sense. Just my opinion. Don't see a valid contradiction from a consumer standpoint. The only business reason I'd see is if the game isn't as good as hyped.

VaeVictus some game developers just don't release demos. Like I said earlier; if anyone is worried about a game living up to hype they need to wait before buying it. That's what you would do with anything you're unsure about. No one is forcing you to buy it on day one. Epic knows this game is going to sell, they don't care if we get to play ti early or not. To be honest I don't care either. I'll be playing the FULL version in less than a month. I think I can do without a short demo.

Everyone can do w/o a demo. That's not the point and it's obvious you don't see mine. So, I will leave it at that.

no demo but i heard that Game and maby EB are getting instore demo's in the next few weeks.

anyone who heard of the store "Xtravision" they will be selling pro evo on the thursday before the launch day at 5:50 P.M. this is in Ireland but not sure about anywhere else.
Written by Yakuza on 2006/10/17

I think they would gain more hype with a demo but its to much work and they would rather polish the game.

And they might loose some customers who might not like the game.
