2006/09/23 2:20:08: Posted by DM
Well folks, years of wishing and begging have finally paid off, King Of Fighters is getting a visual overhaul. This is something most of us 2D fighting fans have been wanting for years, totally new sprites will be used for the next KOF installment, and possibly even high-res ones like in Guilty Gear! Let's just hope that Capcom follows suit, oh please god Capcom, follow suit!

This is excellent news. I can't wait for this game to be released for the Xbox 360!!!

When a 2D game like this is released RAM because the most important factor--BY FAR!!!

The Xbox 360 has 512MB of Unified Ram...You can bet on it that there will be plenty of times when there will be a need for 384MB RAM needed at at time...OR MORE!!!

The Playstation 3 can never use more than 256MB at a time for Video RAM, but the Xbox 360 can use up to 512MB at a time for Video RAM, thanks to its Unified RAM technology.

Let's pray that SNK releases King of Fighters in a way that is optimized for the Xbox 360; that way, it will look the best that any next-generation system can provide!!!

Why would it matter if capcom follows suit? They don't make new 2d fighters.

You don't need that much fucking memory for 2 2d sprites and background you dipshit... Street Fighter 3 arcade uses 96 megs of ram and it loads the whole game.. you think it will tie to that? Nope, There isn't a single game that would have all shit loaded

RE: Unknown,

This is NOT going to be a traditional 2D fighting game. This is going to be a NEW form of 2D fighting game, and it will include 3D aspects. We will be completely surprised by what this game offers. The number one technical aspect that developers requested was RAM when Microsoft was asking for suggesions while developing the Xbox 360. That is why Microsoft included 512MB of Unified RAM with the Xbox 360.

We will DEFINITELY see an advantage in a new King of Fighters game developed exclusively for the Xbox 360 that is optimized to take advantage of the Xbox 360 hardware.

By the way, please do not swear and act in an unprofessional way.

mike, what the name of your leprechaun friend that tells you all this crap?

www.gamespot.com/features/6125429/p-2.html

"The PlayStation 3 has 256MBs of Rambus XDR memory and 256MBs of GDDR3 memory dedicated to graphics. Nvidia also claims that the RSX can take advantage of the combined 512MBs of memory, since it is capable of writing directly to system memory, but the 256MBs dedicated to graphics memory should be plenty for now."

In terms of graphics memory they are basically the same, since the os will always consume a significant chunk of memory.
