Okami & Godhand Coming To Xbox360? >
2006/12/27 12:51:09: Posted by DM
According to Wordpress, who discovered a document in PDF form on Capcom's website, both Okami and Godhand, both PS2 exclusives, will be heading to the Xbox360 after all. We will rumor mill this for now until we get confirmation from a second reliable source, but it certainly sounds like the trend this past month. It is possible that the poor launch logistics of the PS3 scared many a developer off. (Thanks, Heretic)

This is false...

" To prepare for the coming demand in next-generation video games, Capcom has been strengthening its sales and marketing efforts in territories outside of Japan, and the results of this change have proven favorable. To continue to expand sales outside of Japan, Capcom has turned its eye to the growing video game markets of Australia and New Zealand and will work together with Activision, who has an extensive distribution network in place in those territories. The first title to be distributed in this manner will be the Xbox 360™ title "Lost Planet Extreme Condition" in early 2007, followed by "Okami" and "God Hand" for the Sony PlayStation® 2."

Here is a site that cannot be trusted.

Please do not trust a foolish source.

Whether it inquires of the company is sure to be understood if it translates.

Moreover, an English press release has gone out, too.

"It is possible that the poor launch logistics of the PS3 scared many a developer off"

I don't understand. How does the poor "launch logistics" of the PS3 have anything to do with the fact that a PS2 game is coming to the 360. Since the Ps3 has nearly full b/c releasing the same game on PS3 would not make any sense in the first place, furthermore the fact that a PS2 game is being ported to another console has nothing to do with the PS3, since the games were never confirmed for the PS3 anyways.

Also from acurism posts which seems to be taken from an English source, it clearly shows that this is not true. Rember DM that Okami is not available in Australia and Europe yet. It seems like this is just a case of using bablefish and getting a totally different meaning from a source of information then was intended.

Thats how I see it anyways.

The Xbox360 supporter holds out a negative campaign of other hardware because it cannot achieve 10 million targets that Xbox360 sells within the year for oneself.

Response to -The G-:

The Playstation 3 actually has LOTS of backward compatibility problems with other Playstation games. Even Ken Kutaragi, a Sony management executive, made this clear by saying, "Whether it is accidental or on purpose, there are many games that do not work properly with the Playstation 3 due to the fact that they were not designed according to the Technical Requirements Criteria needed in order for the game to be backward compatible with the Playstation 3."

The really bad this is that games that don't use much hardware power--such as chess and checkers--work fine, but it is the games like GT, Tekken 5, and many other new games that give people the problems, because those are the ones that pushed the PS2 hardware to new limits that did not agree with the Technical Requirements Criteria.

Currently, there are hundreds of games reported for the PS2 that do not work properly with the Playstation 3.

The problem with these "reported" issues is that when you buy a new system, you generally want to play new games, not the old ones. As a result, there are a large number of games that end up not working properly with the PS3, but we don't find out about it because people don't take the time to report those issues.

Okami & Godhand Coming To Xbox 360:

We know that Capcom is releasing up to 7 games for the Xbox 360 in 2007. The information released says that Capcom is only releasing 3 games for the PS3 in 2007, no games for the Wii in 2007, and 33 games for the PS2 in 2007.

Obviously, it is easy to see why Capcom can release so many games for the PS2--since many of those games are "arcade classics" or "sequels" that sort of don't count, because they just need to be reprogrammed, rather than completely designed from nothing.

It's common knowledge that Microsoft wants third-party companies to release Original new games rather than sequels. But we do know that there are PS2 games that were released in 2006 that will end up in an improved format on the Xbox 360 in 2007.

For example, Guitar Hero 2 will be released for the Xbox 360 with true 5.1 sound and all sort of new high-definition graphics and extra online features. That game will actually be released very early in 2007 for the Xbox 360.

I think Capcom might do something similar with Okami and Godhand, especially since those games might actually beat the PS2 games to market in Europe, like Nemesis IX said.

All of this is rumor stuff for now, though...but it is very interesting.

UBT

You seem to not understand this is not a rumor as much as a misinterpretation. They used a web translator to convert a press release and got a totally different meaning than what was intended. Thats what happens when use stuff like bablefish.

Furthermore Clover studious the original team that designed the game has been disbanded. Also, the art styling of the game is done differently to traditional games so if ported would look exactly the same, except for maybe a few additions of wide screen support etc. This is not a real difference.

Also the PS3 b/c is a lot better than you try to make it appear as. Those games DO WORK they only suffer from glitches, and prone to other effects. A patch on the firmware was also released to solve most issues. Since you "claimed" to have a PS3 I would think you knew that?

Furthermore 200 titles are all that is affected. They do work, but occasionally suffer from problems. Their is a big difference to what you are trying to claim.

It is not a big problem, so please stop trying to claim so. If you think this is a BIG problem what do you think of the fact that only a few hundred xbox games are b/c on the 360? is that not even a bigger problem?

There is a reason you find that people are more and more treating you with dis-respect. Stop pretending like you don't know whats actually going on.

Response to -The G-:

This is not the first time that there have been "translation error" problems with rumors on the Internet.

I remember when this happened when Sony was misinterpreted as saying that Sega Genesis and Turbo-Grafx-16 games would appear of the PS3, the same way that some of those games appear on the Wii and Xbox Live Arcade. The problem is that the interpreter didn't bother to point out that Sony was simply talking about "theoretical" sort of things that could "potentially" happen. In other words, those things aren't coming to the PS3, and Sony's Ken Kutaragi has now acknowledged that.

It really is disturbing that there are idiots out there that make a big deal about stuff when it is just a "translation" error.

By the way, -The G-, there are now quite a bit more than 200 games that are reported as not working properly with the PS3. The list continues to grow each day as more people decide to play their older games and then find glitches that cause the games to not work properly with the PS3. Then, IF the people take the time to tell websites about the problems, then it will be added to a public list that we find out about. One thing is for sure, though; the list is MUCH higher than 200 games.

And another VERY annoying thing about the PS3 is the fact that Sony "claims" you can take your saved data from the PS2 and convert it to the PS3...HOWEVER, you CANNOT find that product in any stores that I have been to, and it is also something that is "shown" on major retail websites like EB, but CANNOT actually be "purchased."

In other words, you better get ready to start from scratch in terms of playing your PS2 games on your PS3, because you won't be copying any of that information anytime soon.
