Can we see lobbies created by Microsoft or Nintendo?

It looks alright. I'd be alot more excited if any of my friends owned a PS3. I don't have much desire to check out someone's virtual apartment that I don't know. My wife is really interested in the whole decorating your avatar and that kind of crap, so she'll probably enjoy it quite a bit. Either way, this is definetly the best thing Sony has done in a long time. It'll be interesting to see what MS does to counter, or if they do anything at all.

Oh yeah, Nintendo better do something soon. The lack of online play on the Wii really blows. Getting drunk and creating Miis got old real fast.

seriously why even bother posting? what is the point of your post? go away xbot

I for one am not all that excited for HOME, but it is nice to see sony is doing something about their online service. And you can't complain it's all free!

Hello Fellow Gamers. Finally... after 5yrs., Sony has something to start with. Now this is a start, but what does it have to do with the games? I want to hear & see all multiplayer online for every game that's released for the PS3. Is that happening right now? uuhhmm.. NO!!

Every game on X360 is online & Multiplayer, including XBLA. Every online feature is built into a x360 game from the start, not added on later.

SONY needs to do that right now. IF they continue to do the same single player offline games then they've already lost a lot of customers.

@ sicbud - Nothing in this world is Free. If Sony sees that they're not making a profit from this. Trust me.. all that free will change very quickly.

I can say i'm pretty surprised(in a good way) by Sony's BOLD move, "Home" is a move in the right direction for Sony after all their fumbles. Even though some of us may not care for this feature(i'm looking @ you steve_o_3000 & headblackman ) alot of people are pumped for this sort of thing just look at the success of "Sims" and "SecondLife" this definitely breathes new life into the PS3. One thing bugs me about home is all this talk of "Purchase"....Purchase this, Purchase that can kill the buzz on this one pretty fast.

The Playstation HOME concept is just like what many of the websites said about it: It is almost like it's own game, but it doesn't make you a part of the games developed for the system.

Sure, it is kind of fun to use Yahoo Messenger to create a neat looking Avatar, and design a background with a nice looking bedroom, or perhaps to make the avatar stand on the beach, or in a living room...but, that is just a game on its own. Did people spend $600 to look at 16-bit 2D Avatar graphics? Or did people spend $600 to PLAY online, and TALK to people online when they play third-party games!

It is a shame that Sony is STILL not focusing on making it so you can play third-party games with Online Chat the way that Xbox Live games let you do.

All Sony needs to do in order to solve that problem is make it so a headset is included with the system...until then, third-parties aren't motivated to support that feature.

@ UTP

why include a headset with the ps3? that will just add additional costs for the consumer

unlike the 360.. ps3 gamers have a choices of literely 100's of bluetooth headsets to choice from because the ps3 a compatitble with almost all of the ones being used for cell phones

thats a true choice..

and they range from prices 19.99 all the way up to almost 150 bucks

now what i dont understand is... DO YOU OR DO U NOT OWN A PS3?

IF SO WHAT GAMES DO YOU OWN ON IT?

HAVE YOU BEEN ONLINE AT ALL WITH ANY PS3 GAMES?

HAVE YOU PLAYED RESISTANCE ONLINE USING THE HEADSET

please respond with simple answers and not an essay... thank you

"Did people spend $600 to look at 16-bit 2D Avatar graphics? Or did people spend $600 to PLAY online,"

last time i checked no one buys a system for just one experience

and i suggest you watch this video... there MUCH more then designing a advatar

h

ttp://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?type=wmv&id=17701

if you check around the web in boards HOME alone is pushing people on edge to buy a ps3

Which is Definitely a GOOD thing............

@UTP

please read my earlier post. Also where are these 16-bit 2D Avatars??? did you watch the video? I don't think X-box live is in any kind of trouble because of Home, what you call a shame is Sony doing something different than just copying microsoft, it may not be your cup of tea but some folks prefer coffee.
