Bioshock Coming To PS3? >

This is pure rumor, and more than likely a total screw-up on ThreeSpeech's part, but according to the website, Bioshock will be appearaing on the PS3. In fact, they speak as if the game is mainly a PS3 title, with the "also appearing on Xbox360" in parenthesis as an afterthought.

I bet this game will come to the PS3 because it was stated along time ago that it was.

Following the Obivilion route? Very likely.

This is obviously a text-based error. Text-based errors like that happen all the time. Bioshock is primarily being developed for both the Xbox 360 and the PC.

I want LBP too.. but... not enough to buy a PS3... damn you LBP, DAMN YOU!

If Bioshock were to really come to the Playstation 3, it would be a GREAT addition to the library of the PS3 system.

The Playstation 3 desperately needs games like Bioshock, because they are so tremendously awesome and awe-inspiring.

Bioshock was one of the games at the 2006 E3 that had people looking amazed, similar Gears of War, Mass Effect, and Alan Wake.

If Bioshock were to be released for the Playstation 3, then the next question for me would be, which version is better.

I have to say I am automatically biased towards the Xbox 360 version, because it contains Rumble technology that would not be included in the Playstation 3 version. We would have to assume the Online features in the Xbox 360 version would be better as well. But, there might be some things in a PS3 version that are different, so who knows.

The important thing to remember is what an AWESOME game Bioshock is!

Bioshock is the sort of Killer-App A+ game people should DEFINITELY buy a system for...and that is the sort of thing that might help the Playstation 3.
Written by Nemesis IX on 2007/04/07

After the ps3 losing DMC 4 exclusivity i'd say this is very possible that it will appear on the ps3, but could be a f*@k up or a misinterpretation from there source.

Written by Unbiased Technology Professor on 2007/04/07

One thing is for sure, the Playstation 3 desperately NEEDS a game of this magnitude!

I mean, when you think of the Xbox 360, the games that instantly come to mind, the games that it is "known for" are now Gears of War and Halo 3.

Games like Lost Planet and Crackdown are incredible, but Gears of War and Halo 3 are what come to mind the instant you mention the words, "Xbox 360."

Games like Mass Effect are certainly something that could be in that same league!

Generally speaking, with the PS3, the games that spring to mind are "MGS4 and FF 13."

The MAJOR difference is that with the Playstation 3, the games people are looking forward to are third-party games that likely will end up on the Xbox 360 at some point in their lives. Whether they are a simultaneously launched, like Devil May Cry 4, or a delayed launch, like Virtua Fighter 5, remains to be seen.

But the bottom line is that Bioshock is AWESOME, and any system that gets instantly becomes a LOT better!

2K games still says no. This game looks f'ing great too. Potentially a GOTY candidate.

Hey everyone:

I found out there is a cool code for Guitar Hero 2 for the Xbox 360 that makes it so you can Unlock all of the songs without having to earn them. The code is a little bit different for the US and Europe, but here are the codes:

BYOROYRYRYRYRYRY - US / NTSC Unlock All

BYOROYBYBYBYBYBY - Pal Unlock All

Response to steve_o_3000:

Well, now that 2K Games has made it official that Bioshock is an exclusive game for the Xbox 360 and PC, I guess that confirms it was just a keyboard text-mistake when the game was listed for the Playstation 3.

Still, it would have really helped the Playstation 3 library if Bioshock would have been released for it, because Bioshock is such an AWESOME game!!!

But, in reality, I likely would have purchased the Xbox 360 version of the game anyways, because the Xbox 360 versions of third-party games are always rated higher, since they have more online features, Rumble, and graphics with smoother framerates, better lighting, and things like that.

Meh, another ho hum fps.. all the FPSes get hyped like crasy and end up being ho hum; this will be no different. Remember PDZ, FEAR, PREY, GRAW2, all FPSs on Wii, etc, etc. The only FPS that lived up to the hype was Gears..
Written by Unbiased Technology Professor on 2007/04/07

Response to Smarty Pantz:

Every one of the games you mentioned that is a first-person shooter has won awards from a multitude of websites!

All of the games you mentioned were also best-sellers, because they are so awesome!

Clearly, your opinion is different than millions of others.

Response to CianMCL:

Well, there are two ways to look at the situation. Here are the two ways:

(1) I do what you say, and shove the controller up my butt with the Rumble feature on, because I am some type of psychotic INDIVIDUAL.

(2) I do what EVERYONE else does--talk about how the Xbox 360 has Rumble features that add a LOT of quality to the game, while the Playstation 3 controller does NOT possess the ability to vibrate or rumble.

*** Now, I'm just going to have to go with #2 on this one for OBVIOUS reasons, since there are LITERALLY (not "practically," but "LITERALLY") MILLIONS of people who agree with me in the way that they LOVE the Rumble technology in videogame controllers!

Be honest, CianMCL; if you were a true fan of the first three Devil May Cry games, and the rumble features included in those games, then you have to admit that the Xbox 360 version of the game is a LOT more appealing than the Playstation 3 version that does not include that feature all of us Devil May Cry fans have grown so used to.

This again shows you don't know anything about the game. Perhaps try looking it up?

Response to MATT:

Excellent point, Bioshock is different than the games he mentioned in several particular ways. Bioshock will scare your socks off, too!

I happen to own all of the games mentioned by Smarty Pantz, and I love ALL of them! I am VERY excited that Perfect Dark Zero (which was a "prequel" to the original Perfect Dark game on the N64) is going to be getting a new release on the Xbox 360.

The game will be called Perfect Dark 2, because it will be a true sequel that takes place after the original N64 version in the storyline. I am looking forward to that one a LOT.

But Bioshock and Mass Effect are the ones I am looking forward to the most over the next few months!

oh GRAW2 is only a FPS in online multiplayer, thought I'd point that out. Bioshock sounds cool but i must admit i don't know much about it.

Just what any and every console needs... Another FPS "rolls eyes" ISn't it bad enough already? I hope it doesn't come to the Ps3... As a matter of fact, I'd like it if Killzone and Resistance were the only 2 FPS Sony allowed on the PS3.

A must have to ps3.

this would be a must have for ps3 i agree.. but i would much rather have it on the 360.. i like the controller lay out for FPS.. plus i have a feeling this particular title will look better in the 360 version.. unless they pull a oblivion..

its not that the ps3 isent capable its just worried about the Dev's

edit: im worried about the Developers

Try Shivering Isles on X360 - it ads last patch.

As one smart person said [joystiq comment]:

"Three speech probably just put it up there because they wanted people to believe It was a game coming to PS3. Since it is not an "official" sony weblog, they can post a "rumor" about a highly anticipated title coming to the PS3 just so people will think It is coming. It's run by Sony marketers as #3 said, so they are going to make people believe it's coming to PS3 even if it's not and they know it, and Sony won't get in trouble for "lying" because it isn't an "official" sony weblog."
Written by Sky on 2007/04/08

@ LOL

Its very obvious when a game is going muliplat.. and im sorry to tell you Bioshock is one of those games... anytime a rumor comes up about a game losing exclusivity like bio shock AC or DMC4... its shut down almost like in hour later.... that hint alone should tell you its comming.. whereas u have games like MSG4 and FF13 where rumors keep comming up... the companys never respond.. its very obvious.. please dont be blinded
Written by Unbiased Technology Professor on 2007/04/08

The way this article was written from the beginning shows this wasn't even something that should be considered a "rumor." It was just a text-based error that caused people to believe the game was coming to the Playstation 3.

Words such as "at this point in time" were not used with 2K Games Officially made it clear that the game was exclusive to the Xbox 360 and Games for Windows PC platforms.

When companies like Sega, Capcom, Midway, Ubisoft, and others talked about how, "This game is exclusive to the Playstation 3 'at this point in time," or they said things like "We have only announced the game for the Playstation 3," then you could pretty much guarantee it was careful wording, and it indicated the games were in fact coming to the Xbox 360, just like the multitude of reliable information sources suggested.

But with Bioshock, this information only came from one source, which was very unreliable, because it appeared to be a text-based error.

When 2K Games responsed, they didn't use any of the "If" or "Currently" or "At this point in time" disclaimers. So, it is definitely safe to say that Bioshock is still an exclusive to the Xbox 360 and PC Games for Windows, just like 2K Games took the time to Officially make clear.

IF...and I repeat IF, this is a game that could come to the Playstation 3, it would be a good thing for Playstation 3 gamers, because the Playstation 3 lacks quality software. Bioshock is DEFINITELY going to be a SPECIAL game. It received a LOT of publicity at the 2006 E3, because it is AWESOME. Bioshock received awards similar to Gears of War and Mass Effect.

But the PS3 version would likely be lacking Rumble and online features the Xbox 360 version includes. And the PS3 version would probably be released MUCH later. So, I would almost certainly get the Xbox 360 version.

But, the videogame industry is an Offensive one. Trip Hawkins made it clear that the original Xbox played a Defensive role, and that was why it didn't get Mass Market games like Guitar Hero, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, and it receive late released for games like Grand Theft Auto.

This time the Xbox 360 is on the Offensive, and the Playstation 3 is the one on the Defensive. Xbox 360 aggressively is taking away exclusive games from the Playstation brand, one-by-one, while Sony's management staff passively makes excuses why companies like Ubisoft and Rockstar Games can't be expected to release exclusive games for the Playstation 3 due to high development costs and the low installed base of PS3 users.

And this time the Xbox 360 is getting all of the Mass Market style games such as Guitar Hero, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, simultaneous Grand Theft Auto releases, Assassins Creed, and so many others.

At the same time, the Playstation 3 is the one lacking Mass Market games like Guitar Hero, and receives late releases of mass market games like Oblivion, F.E.A.R., Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, and others. You can’t even play the PS2 versions of Guitar Hero on your PS3, which sucks, and angers a lot of mass market gamers.

I think Bioshock will be great on ANY system it ends up on, though…that much is GUARANTEED!!!

only 6 games out of sonys mass library of games went multiplatform... soooooo whats the issues

DMC4

ace combat 6

Un real

Assas creed

pandamic game

Written by Eamo on 2007/04/08

Cian, sony practically worshipped the rumble feature when the dual shock controller was first released, why mock the feature when sony is re-incuding it with the ps3? chances are Bioshock will contain rumble support anyhow. I actually like the ps3 ITSELF, but i dont like the games, the controller (Phone R2/L2, crappy motion sensing and no vibration) or the games at the moment. I am giving it time however, I felt the same about PS2. Just because you don't like UTP doesnt mean you should mock his statements, however logical they may be.
Written by Unbiased Technology Professor on 2007/04/08

Sky,

You need to remember there were plenty of other games that were on the PS2 that were not on the original Xbox. However, those games are now on the Xbox 360, and that is why the Xbox 360 is enjoying FAR more mass market success.

Consider that Ridge Racer was not on the original Xbox, but it was on the Xbox 360. Resident Evil is another one like that.

You talk about Ace Combat, but that is a HUGE Offensive victory for Xbox 360 because they not only made it so the game would "also" be released for Xbox 360, they completely took it away from the Playstation 3 and made it an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Guitar Hero 2 is something very similar to Ace Combat 6. It was on the PS2, but not the original Xbox. Now, it is on the Xbox 360, but not the Playstation 3.

Sky, I'm not trying to be mean, friend, but...um, Sony's first party games for the Playstation 3 are quite terribly rated. Games like Genji, Untold Legends, and that NBA 07 game all received scores like 4 out of 10 and 5 out of 10 on most of the review sites. And Resistance: Fall of Man certainly received very mixed reviews. Look at the way it recently received a 6 out of 10 on the Eurogamer website when it was reviewed for the Playstation 3 European launch. Motorstorm is another PS3 game that failed to live up to the hype and received very mixed reviews, and received very few awards.

In fact, the ONLY Playstation 3 game to receive the Editor's Choice Award from Gamespot is an Xbox 360 game that was released for the Playstation 3 literally one year after the Xbox 360 release, and the PS3 version was not rated as high as the Xbox 360 version; that game is Oblivion: Elder Scrolls 4.

The Xbox 360 now has more third-party support from North American and European developers, as was expected...but what is amazing is the way that the Xbox 360 now has more Japanese third-party support than the Playstation 3. Capcom, Konami, Tecmo, Namco, and Square-Enix all have more games in development for the Xbox 360 than the PS3.

I think I ended up going off-track the subject of this article a little bit. The PS3 desperately needs Bioshock, but it doesn't look like it will get it. If it did end up receiving Bioshock, that would help the system, though, because Bioshock is such an amazing and incredible game! Bioshock and Mass Effect are the two games exciting me the most this summer; they are going to be amazing, especially Mass Effect! I think both of us can agree on that!
Written by Sky on 2007/04/09

@ Utp

all those games u named are launch titles which we cannot expect much from

what about team ico.. SOCOM.. twisted metal.. Drakes Fourture..GT5.. Kill zone.. all these games have potential.. and im sure there more in the pipeline for 07.. like heavenly sword and lair for instances

I bioshock is a great game.. but i dont think its mainstream.. it will be a cult classic just like system shock. i plan on getting the Le version though ofcourse
Written by Kenny K on 2007/04/09

wow anyways, RIGHT NOW this is an exclusive, that doesnt mean it will always be. i do know the developers have shown interest in porting the title over to the ps3 before the 360/PC exclusive announcement. that probably HAS NOT changed, but we will probably not see the game on the ps3 for some time now.

as for what ThreeSpeech is talking about, i only hope it's not that PSN article that was run about 6 months ago where they stated it was announced when it was not. all i know is that ThreeSpeech is hardly reliable.

it was debunked by 2K and Three Speech has now issued this update:

"Um, scratch what was said in the previous story about Bioshock. We’ll confirm either way as soon as we can. Meantime, consider Three Speech’s Easter eggs confiscated…

Addition to this story. There is currently no indication that Bioshock will come out on the PS3. Apologies for the previously inaccurate information. Steve Boxer will now not get any Easter eggs next year, either."

Written by Unbiased Technology Professor on 2007/04/09

Tecno_Geek:

Have you been stranded on an island for four years? Do you have a volleyball friend named Wilson???

Devil May Cry 4 is now on the Xbox 360, and it will see a simultaneous release on both systems. The Xbox 360 version will keep the same rumble features as the first three Devil May Cry games, but the Playstation 3 version of Devil May Cry 4 will NOT have the rumble features we grew accustomed to in the first three games.

Ace Combat 6 is NOT going to see ANY form of release on the Playstation 3. Ace Combat 6 is now fully exclusive to the Xbox 360.

Bioshock is still fully exclusive to the Xbox 360 and PC Games for Windows, as 2K Games made clear in the announcement.

You really need to stop living in a dream world, Tecno_Geek. DM was NOT telling a lie when he wrote those headlines. One hint that proves this is the fact that EVERY other website confirmed those things DM was writing about.

Please, Tecno_Geek, behave in a professional way, and to not write nonsense as if it was "opposite day."
