Halo3 SE Console Includes HDMI But No Cable >
2007/07/11 3:29:04: Posted by HoTHiTTeR
While looking through the contents of the new Halo3 Special Edition console, you might notice that it includes a key Elite feature in the HDMI port, yet has no bundled HDMI cable. Yet, the Halo3 SE console is bundled with a 20gb HDD, which leaves us asking; New Premium feature, or Painted and Multi-feature missing Elite? Take a look for yourself.(Thanks Faceless)

This strongly suggests that Microsoft is not going to drop the price of the Xbox 360 until the .65nm process of engineering has been fully implemented.

By the time the Halo 3 Special Edition console is released, the .65nm technology will be implemented.

We know the .65nm technology will be redesigned in a way that only uses 2/3 of the development resources, which should allow a 30% reduction in price.

But, this strongly indicates that the new production process will not just be a matter of redesigning the system in a less expensive and smaller way. This seems to indicate that the system will be redesigned in a way that also has the ability to output graphics using an HDMI cable, in addition to the high-definition Component cable packed in with the system.

This isn't a big surprise, because the only reason the original Xbox didn't include HDMI output was because of all the copyright problems HDMI was going through at the time. Microsoft probably planned on making this change all along, once the legal battles over HDMI copyrights were agreed upon in the industry.

This certainly isn't that big of a deal, though. The performance between a high-definition Component cable and an HDMI cable are very minimal. Even if you insist on using an HDMI cable, there is a new HDMI cable that will be released for the original Xbox 360 systems. That way you can send those true 1080p signals to your 1080p HDTV under any circumstance, no matter what your situation is with Audio/Video requirements.

I think Microsoft is making the right move by keeping the Premium systems included with the high-definition Component cable, because ALL of the High-Definition TV sets EVER SOLD have high-definition Component video inputs.

NOT ALL of the High-Definition TV sets ever sold have HDMI cables, so I don't think that should be a pack in cable with either the Premium Xbox 360 or the Core Xbox 360. I think the HDMI cable should only be included with the Elite Xbox 360, which it is. So, I think Microsoft is doing the right thing with pack-in cables.

The only adjustment I think should be made is with the Core system. Rather than including only a Composite cable with the Core system, I think Microsoft should include the same sort of dual-cable that is both a High-Definition Component cable AND a Composite cable in one. In other words, I think it would be best to include the cable included with the Premium system with the Core system.

The reason I say that is because even though people who buy the Core system may not have access to high-speed Internet or a high-definition TV set, they will probably have access to standard-definition TV sets with Component video inputs that will allow a superior video signal to be seen.

That's one bad ass looking console. I love you Microsoft.

Microsoft shows this console on the xbox.com website, and it looks a LOT better on the website than it did in that dark environment when Peter Moore was holding it. The way Peter Moore was holding it, you couldn't see how hard-drive and DVD ROM have that cool different color. I think there will be a lot of Halo fans who like this Special Edition.

UTP now it doesn't matter that they don't include a HIght Def cable,..?? wow how you switch up the story.

@B1ueBurner it really don't matter because Elite does offer it while the 80GB PS3 don't.

might I add that HDMI cables are 12 bucks which I have that does the same thing as my buddy that paid 50 bucks for there's.

Nothing like faceless to make a BIG deal on what cable the system doesn't come with

and yeah UTP hdmi cable included was one of your big points, now could you please type up a bunch of useless text to fill up 10-12 sentences with a bunch of non related bullshit to counter act? I need a good snooze on my eyes
