PRESS RELEASE

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Midway Games Inc. (NYSE:MWY - News) today announced revised estimates for the Company's third quarter ended September 30, 2007, and fiscal year ending December 31, 2007. The changes are primarily to reflect Midway's decision to release Stranglehold for the PLAYSTATION® 3 computer entertainment system in the fourth quarter rather than the third quarter, the expected movement of Unreal Tournament 3 for the PLAYSTATION 3 system into the first quarter of fiscal 2008, and lower expected sales of BlackSite: Area 51 primarily due to the adverse impact of the split shipment between the Xbox 360 and the PLAYSTATION 3 system, with the European version of BlackSite: Area 51 for the PLAYSTATION 3 system shifting into the first quarter of 2008.

The Company now expects third quarter revenue of approximately $39 million, as compared to the Company's previous estimate of approximately $50 million, and a net loss of $0.33 per basic and diluted share, compared to the Company's previous estimate of a net loss of approximately $0.23 per basic and diluted share. On a non-GAAP basis, the Company now expects a loss of approximately $0.27 per basic and diluted share, compared to the Company's prior estimate of $0.17 per basic and diluted share. A reconciliation of non-GAAP to GAAP guidance is provided in a table at the end of this press release.

For the year ending December 31, 2007, the Company now expects full year revenue of approximately $170 million, as compared to the Company's previous estimate of approximately $225 million, and a net loss of $0.85 per basic and diluted share, compared to the Company's previous estimate of a net loss of approximately $0.44 per basic and diluted share. On a non-GAAP basis, the Company now expects a loss of approximately $0.66 per basic and diluted share, compared to the Company's prior estimate of $0.27 per basic and diluted share. A reconciliation of non-GAAP to GAAP guidance is provided in a table at the end of this press release.

David F. Zucker, president and chief executive officer, commented, "While we regret that these delays will cause us to lose some valuable holiday sales in the near term as well as shift revenue for some of these titles out of 2007 and into 2008, we remain confident that our technology strategy and product plan position us to grow both revenue and market share as we move into the heart of this console cycle. Looking ahead to 2008, with our core technology platform now in place, we expect to release a number of titles, including already announced console versions of Unreal Tournament 3, a next generation installment of our NBA Ballers franchise, Wheelman, and TNA iMPACT! the video game. We also expect to release several as-yet unannounced titles such as next generation versions of our hit franchises Blitz and Mortal Kombat, and two exciting new ambitious open world games. We intend to give more details on our 2008 release schedule in the near future."

Yet ANOTHER "Delay" for the Playstation 3.

This obviously is NOT a surprise, because of the poorly designed Playstation 3 hardware.

I just got a magazine today that talked about how the Playstation 3 has virtually no games that are capable of being "system sellers" for the Holiday 2007.

The magazine pointed out that the delay of Grand Theft Auto 4 actually helps the Xbox 360, but hurts the Playstation 3, because GTA4 could have been a "system seller," on the Playstation 3...but, even though the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto 4 would have been better, the GTA4 game still would have been "one among many great games on the Xbox 360 Holiday list."

The magazine pointed out that games like Lair, Heavenly Sword, and Ratchet & Clank simply aren't "System Seller" games...

This means the Playstation 3 is in even BIGGER trouble than ever for the Holiday sales season of 2007.
Written by chuckl163 on 2007/10/02

Wow... this sucks. I was pretty excited for the mouse/keyboard on my 51" tv. Meh, oh well.
Written by Krogan Battle Master Urdnot Wrex on 2007/10/02

chuckl163,

I think Unreal 3 is still going to be released for the PC...and that version was going to be infinitely better than the Playstation 3 version anyways...so just get Unreal Tournament 3 for the PC.
Written by purbeast on 2007/10/02

lol @ Krogan ... what a fucking tool.
Written by sticky on 2007/10/02

the 360 version is going to be so bad that there is no use in actually releasing it. by 2008 there probably wont be a single 360 that actually works left on this planet either.

did anyone see that Conan for the 360 is shit? it really is fucking shit just like the 360, which is shit.
Written by Krogan Battle Master Urdnot Wrex on 2007/10/02

Response to sticky:

Your biased pain is my pleasure!

Thank you for doing such an excellent job of pleasing me as a result of expressing your emotional pain, and disgust in the Playstation 3.

The way that you try to rip on other products, every time the Playstation 3 has a game Delayed or Cancelled is something I now fully expect...and appreciate, because it shows how you truly feel; it displays your disappointment in the Playstation 3, since there is no way to feel any form of game-related pleasure in the Playstation 3, since games like Unreal Tournament 3 are delayed, and exclusivitey is lost!

Response to purbeast:

I'm not a tool...although, based on your foul public language, you clearly are an immature person who does not appreciate the rights of others.

I suggest you live with the FACT that the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3 is the Lead Design Platform.

Unreal Tournament 3 will be released first on the PC, and that is the best platform for the game.

The Playstation 3 version will be the least impressive, When/If it ever is released, because it doesn't even include all of the Levels/Maps, since the Playstation 3 doesn't have the hardware power to include all of the stuff in the PC version.
Written by Jagosix on 2007/10/02

HFG. Sticky or should I say Stucky (as in stuck up). What's your problem dude? I admit all consoles have their good & bad points, but that statement was just stupid & pointless. The PS3 is good system, no doubt. But without software support fully behind it, it's totally useless.

Holiday season shopping is only 1 month away. There are no major blockbuster titles coming out for the PS3 on the level that Metroid, Smash Brothers, Halo3, Mass Effect, etc.. have to offer. This Holiday season will be Wii & X360. Sony had a chance to do something this year. They & blew it. Plain & simple. So get on with your life & enjoy your PS3.
Written by PimpDaddy on 2007/10/02

I'm not surprised at anything I hear about the Delaystation anymore... Not like PS3 owners buy games anyways, especially since the PS3 is a Blu-Ray player. I have 6 Blu-Ray movies for sale, does anybody want them???
Written by Krogan Battle Master Urdnot Wrex on 2007/10/02

Response to PimpDaddy:

Delaystation???

That is a name I have heard used for the Playstation 3 quite a bit lately.

Next thing ya know, they will call it "DenialStation," because for some reason the blind PS3 lemmings find a way to reject reality and come up with potential excuses...even if it means waiting a very loooooong time.
Written by madgunde on 2007/10/02

Because of course everyone knows that PC and XBox 360 games always ship on time.

Of course, all DM and the rest of you 360 fans can do is speculate about whether PS3 has a timed exclusive or not, since the actual press release makes no mention about it whatsoever. Whatever passes as anti-sony fuel I guess. I have to say though, you guys do tend to grasp at any straw to spout your nonsense.

I have enough other games coming out in November to keep me occupied. I can wait another couple of months for this one.
Written by Itaintrite on 2007/10/02

Epic has already confirmed that even if the PS3 version is delayed, it will still be released far ahead of Xbox360/PC. Enough said.
Written by madgunde on 2007/10/02

@Itaintrite

Thanks for that info. Do you have a link?

Kotaku has an update from Mark Rein:

hxxp://kotaku.com/gaming/slip/unreal-tournament-iii-ps3-delayed-to-2008-[updated]-306274.php

"Mark Rein writes on the official Epic Games forums that the delay is not set in stone and that Midway was simply warning investors about the possibility of a delay, adding that "our goal is still to get the PS3 version of UT3 in stores before the end of 2007." He later writes "there is a chance it will come out in December." The silver lining is that the PS3 version will now feature all of the maps present in the PC version."

Sounds like a good trade-off to me!
Written by incoming00 on 2007/10/02

ooh... all maps for just 1 more month longer. sounds good to me.
Written by PimpDaddy on 2007/10/02

^^Yes all of us poor PS3 fanboys who are victimized on this website band together and form Voltron Defender of the Sony Universe.^^

Stop circle jerking each other. Midway is the Publisher, they are the ones claiming that UT3 has been delayed. They are the ones saying that UE had issues with the PS3. I didnt say it. DM didnt say it. MIDWAY said it. Go yell at them.
Written by sticky on 2007/10/02

i would like to be a 360 fan but after 4 360s burning out on me its kinda hard to stay loyal
Written by PimpDaddy on 2007/10/02

Sticky: Wow such mature language. Are you Homophobic??? I have owned 2 360's without any hardware issues at all. I rest easy at night knowing that if I got the RROD I am covered by a 3 year warranty. I hear Karma is a motherf*cker, maybe your getting paid back for modding your 360's and pirating games. You get what you pay for.
Written by Itaintrite on 2007/10/02

I don't remember the source for that madgunde, but it's 100% correct.

From maxconsole:

"

Surprise, Surprise Unreal Tournament 3 for PS3 delayed until early 2008

Midway Games has revealed that the PS3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 will be delayed in its release until the first quarter of 2008, however the PC version is still on track to be released in November. No reason was given for the delay, but this could be 'bad' news for Xbox 360 owners as a while ago Mark Rein stated that whatever happens the PS3 version will be released sometime before the 360 version (whether this will be a matter of weeks or months, it will still be later)."

Mark Rein said it. Not I.
Written by madgunde on 2007/10/02

@pimpdaddy

Who's circle-jerking who? Midway didn't say PS3 was losing its timed exclusive, DM and some of you other 360 fanboys did. Now don't you circle-jerkers have anything better to do but troll around in every quasi-negative Sony article? Shouldn't you be playing all those amazing games you keep boasting about? Or is your 360 being serviced? LOL.

Thanks Itaintrite.

@ PimpDaddy

what movies and how much?

send me a PM about the movies if you want
Written by PimpDaddy on 2007/10/03

madgunde: Actually I said nothing about the 360 version or timed release, etc... I just made comment that another game on the PS3 is getting delayed. Like I said in other posts, both of the 360's I have purchased work fine. I actually kind of miss my PS3.

It did upconvert DVD movies, and I like the quality of Blu-Ray movies. Plus I was getting pretty damn good at the Missle Turret in Warhawk. Had my cheesy strategy locked down. I just enjoy the networked community better on Xbox Live. Its integration is superior, plus voice chat actually works reliably, and I dont have to exit a game to talk to somebody. Controls are better for most games with the 360 controller, and it just has a bigger/better gaming library.

I like to rag on you PS3 fanboys because you guys get your panties all in a twist so easily, and think every website and every anti Sony PS3 comment is just 1 big conspiracy. You should get outside more often, this is just videogames lighten up please...

incoming00: I bought 300. But I also am waiting for Stealth, Pearl Harbor, The Italian Job, and 2 others, I forget the names to come in the mail. But I would be more than happy to unload them dirt cheap. It was either that or I was going to trade them in at Gamestop of all places. Send me your e-mail in PM and we can talk there...

F*ck I hope I dont regret trading in my PS3 :( But damn the 360 just has more going for it "right" now...
Written by Krogan Battle Master Urdnot Wrex on 2007/10/03

Itaintrite:

PC version of Unreal Tournament 3 is still 100% on schedule to release on time!

The PC version is the version of Unreal Tournament 3 that will be "FAR ahead of the others.".

And the PC version offers FAR greater performance than the Playstation 3 version. The PC version runs at 60 frames per second at over 1,200p resolution, while the Playstation 3 version only runs at 30 frames per second at 720p.
Written by Krogan Battle Master Urdnot Wrex on 2007/10/03

incoming00,

Do you really believe that the Xbox 360 version of Unreal 3 is automatically going to be delayed, just because the PS3 version is delayed? When Mark Rein said the PS3 version would be released first, he was under the assumption that the PS3 version would release on schedule--alongside the PC version. Obviously, that has not happened, which mathematically means that the PC version will definitely still release before the Xbox 360 version, just as was planned when Mark Rein made the original comment. However, the gap in time between the release of the Playstation 3 version and the Xbox 360 version has closed.
Written by incoming00 on 2007/10/03

urdnot, why are you directing that statement to me? i wasnt the one who posted it. it was Itaintrite. i can honestly care less when it comes out, i'm still getting the PS3 version anyways. just like stranglehold. and spiderman 3. and rainbow six vegas. it may be biased towards the PS3, but i dont care. thats my preference of choice. like all of us, we choose one over the other. i chose the PS2 over the XBOX. i have 53 games for the PS2 and 1 game for the XBOX, and its halo 2. i never wanted a 360, but i couldnt deny saints row, gears of war, and halo 3. thats why i have a 360, and i'll admit during the time frame in which i was waiting for the games i wanted, i came across a few goods ones on the 360. but my focus is on the one console i wanted, and thats the PS3. faulty or not, heavily backed or not, its still my PS3. and delays arent gonna keeping me from supporting it.

and just because i am putting more focus on the PS3, doesnt mean i'm ignoring my 360. i have Halo 3, beat it on Legendary(2player co-op), and now trying to get the rest of the achievements. i'm sure a game or two of the 360's big christmas line-up will catch my eye, but it all depends on what my wallet can take. and that also counts for the PS3 also...

the 360 version of this game is going to suck balls. since i want to play it with my kb and mouse and i am not willing to shell out a small fortune to upgrade my pc the ps3 version is the one i will buy.
Written by Krogan Battle Master Urdnot Wrex on 2007/10/04

Response to incoming00:

I apologize...I thought it was you who made the comment...I didn't realize at the time that you were making a reference to Itaintrite.

incoming00, I am curious why in the universe you would buy games for the Playstation 3 that are released a LOT later than the Xbox 360 versions, and are NOT as good as the Xbox 360 versions...and actually cost more than the Xbox 360 versions by the time they are released.

For example, you mentioned Rainbow Six: Vegas. That game is better on the Xbox 360 in every way possible. And the Playstation 3 version was released about seven months later. By that time, the Xbox 360 version was a best-seller, and was often on sale for $39.99, rather than $59.99...but the PS3 version was still $59.99. So, why pay the extra cash for less quality, and still cheat yourself out of Xbox 360 Achievement points.

By the way, thanks for getting the name right. ;) Bounty hunters appreciate it when you call them by their name (Urdnot) or title (Battle Master) rather than their race (Krogan).
Written by incoming00 on 2007/10/04

@urdnot

the reason why is because i am loyal to Sony. i'm not a fanboy because i dont go around defending the PS3. i just enjoy what i can out of it. and i know down the road my loyalty will pay off. and me only having 6000+ achievement points means i'm hardly an achievement whore(no offense). i do like the achievement system, but its not a deciding factor when buying games. i love both systems, but my money is more on the PS3 then the 360. my gf enjoys playing the 360 more then i do cuz she loves playing online. i just like playing games.
Written by Krogan Battle Master Urdnot Wrex on 2007/10/05

Response to incoming00:

With all due respect, it is a poor decision of yours to be "loyal to Sony," in the areas we discussed, because YOU are the one who ends up suffering.

Do you really think it will "pay off" if you play the inferior version of Madden Football 2008 on the Playstation 3???

It won't!!! In fact, if consumers like you are dumb enough to buy inferior software on the Playstation 3, simply because of "loyalty," then that means Sony will not see a financial reason to improve their products...because they know they always have the "loyal" "blind-lemmings" to follow them over the cliff as they walk to their death in the videogame business.
Written by arthur56k on 2007/10/05

pimpD your killin me, delaystation lol
Written by Krogan Battle Master Urdnot Wrex on 2007/10/05

incoming00:

And from the point of view of Rainbow Six: Vegas:

You waited seven months for the PS3 version. However, the PS3 version doesn't have graphics as good as the Xbox 360 version. The PS3 version doesn't have gameplay as good as the Xbox 360 version. And the PS3 version was $20 more expensive by the time it was released at $59, because the Xbox 360 version had become a best-seller and was often on sale for $39.99.

YOU are the one who ended up getting screwed because of your blind "loyalty."

incoming00, with all due respect, you are NOT being "loyal," according to the dictionary. Here is the definition of the word "loyal":

"faithful to a person to whom fidelity is held to be due"

incoming00, do you see those last several words that say, "to whom fidelity is 'HELD TO BE DUE.'"

When Sony's Playstation 3 produces software seven months late, with inferior graphics and gameplay, and fewer features, and still costs $20 more money, then that means FIDELITY is NOT DUE to Sony!!!

In other words, you should NOT be showing loyalty for such poor performance from the Playstation 3.

Xbox 360 offers superior performance, and it really is a slap in the face to yourself when you spend extra money for inferior products on the PS3. It is like a kick in the wallet, because you are wasting your money. You would be better off sending Sony a donation of $60, rather than buying a game. After all, you clearly don't care about the highest level of software, but you want to donate money to Sony...so why don't you do that???

The example given in the dictionary actually makes a reference to a slave being loyal to a master because of the highest quality treatment. However, when the slave is NOT shown the highest quality treatment, then there is absolutely no reason for the slave to remain loyal.

The situation you are in is like being a slave, and having one owner offer to treat you the best, but have another owner offer to treat you in an inferior way...only a fool would want to work for the inferior owner, yet that is what you seem to want to do.

From a point of view similar to today's environment, think of it like this: Would you rather work for Microsoft who will give you the highest rate of pay and the best benefits, or Sony who will give you a lower rate of pay with inferior benefits. Only a fool would choose to show "loyalty" to the inferior situation, because that situation with Sony is NOT worth of having "loyalty" shown to it.

Bottom line incoming00: Please do not say you are "loyal" to Sony in the future, because according to the dictionary you are NOT "loyal."

The correct word that you should probably be using is "Faithful," because the definiton is, "ready to believe especially in the declarations and promises of God."

Obviously, Sony has made a LOT of "declarations and promises" with the Playstation 3 that you apparently believe in. Sadly, it has been 100% PROVEN that those declarations and promises were FALSE!!!

So, I strongly suggest that you reconsider your "faithfulness," because the fact is, there is nothing for you to believe in...the PS3 does NOT have two HDMI outputs, it does NOT have games that are 4D, and it does NOT have games that run at 120 frames per second. In reality, the PS3 has one HDMI output, it has games that simulate 3D, and the majority of PS3 games "struggle to run at 30 frames per second."

Please consider that information, incoming00.

Why so defensive Krogan? It's his choice, no matter how he came to it. And you may think it's bad or misinformed, but truthfully, that's how I see almost all of your posts. It's all about personal choice.

Besides, you ever think that maybe he wanted the option to play online but not have to pay for that? seems to mee like that might be worth an extra 20-30 dollars, seeing as how 360 charges $50 to play.
Written by Krogan Battle Master Urdnot Wrex on 2007/10/05

Cryos,

Um, no...that thought never occurred to me, because if someone is willing to waste $20 extra for an inferior version on the Playstation 3, then that would mean they could play the superior Xbox 360 version online for FIVE MONTHS due to the cost of only $4 per month.

And with all due respect Cryos, I'm not being defensive; I'm simply being a caring person. I have exchanged emails and Gamer Tag info with incoming00, and I know that he is a good guy. I just think it is terrible that he would want to wait seven months and pay $20 more for the PS3 version that isn't as good, especially when people like me would welcome incoming00 to play on Xbox Live.

second, Sony isnt my god like MS is yours, so dont you dare bring up faith in this. being faithful either invloves religion or relationships. and i'm not dating Sony either. i'm a loyal customer of Sony because i've never had any problems with any of my Sony products.(well, except the Sony Vaio... piece of junk).

my Sony cybershot is the best digital camera i've ever had. my gf loves her Sony Erricson w810i. my ps1 and ps2 still work fine. and my ps3 works perfectly. not 1 game for the PS3 did i ever regret purchasing, and yes that includes Rainbow Six:Vegas.

i enjoyed Resistance

i enjoyed Motorstorm

i enjoyed Virtua Fighter 5

i enjoyed Spiderman 3

i enjoyed Ninja Gaiden Sigma

i enjoyed Rainbow Six Vegas

i enjoyed Warhawk(and the nice bluetooth too)

i enjoyed Heavenly Sword(all 6 hours of them!)

i respect your opinion urdnot, but thats all i see it. OPINION. going around saying that MY decision to purchase whatever game i want on the PS3 is OPINION and OPINION ONLY! DONT GO AROUND SAYING THAT MY DECISIONS TO PURCHASE A GAME IS INFERIOR BASED ON YOUR OPINION! consider that before typing anything
Written by Cryos on 2007/10/05

Krogan,

I'll admit that I've not been a fan of you or your comments. Not because of what you say, but more because you are soo opposed to other views. You refuse to concede any point no matter the validity of the argument.

But I have to say that you are taking it to a whole new level here. Your comments towards incoming00 remind me of a devout religious person who "cares" about people and their beliefs/values because you want to save them from themselves. You apparently have no tolerance towards other opinions, and believe your view is the only one relevant. Your comments were condecending, and out of line. it's one thing to attack sony, or to spout your opinions. but when you denounce anothers opinions because they differ from yours, you lose all credibility on any information you post.

Response to Cryos about incoming00:

My reason for wanting to help my friend, "incoming00," is because I think he is a good guy, and I think that he deserves to have his money spent in the best way possible.

In many ways money is a representative of time, because you spend time working in order to earn money.

If you had a friend who was tearing their money up and throwing it out the window, wouldn't you want to help them out, and offer suggestions of better ways to use the money???

Well, that is all I am doing with incoming00. He says that he likes Rainbow Six: Vegas. Well, the best version of that game is the Xbox 360 version...the Xbox 360 version was released seven months before the PS3 version. The Xbox 360 version has better graphics, better controls, and more features. And by the time the PS3 version was released, the Xbox 360 version had become a best-seller and was often on sale for $39.99, compared to the $59.99 of the PS3 version.

So, who is the true friend: (1) The person who says, "incoming00, you should spend $20 less and buy the Xbox 360 version, because it is the better version. Or (2) The person who says, "incoming00, you can do whatever you want with your money, even if you are ripping it up and throwing it out the window."

A true friend would want to step in and offer advice to his friend. That is all I am doing for incoming00...he really is a good guy who thinks he is showing "loyalty," but according to the dictionary he is NOT showing "loyalty." According to the dictionary he is showing "faithfulness," in a way that cheats him out of what is best for himself. And from an economical point of view, incoming00 is actually hurting other PS3 owners and Sony, because he is basically voting for inferior products every time he buys one, which will motivate the developers to continue making inferior products.

I have tried to explain my point of view.

Bottom line: I'm just trying to help incoming00 get the most for his money and have the most fun in his life.

What would you rather have: (1) The best version of Rainbow Six: Vegas for $39.99, and then spend the extra $20 for a nice dinner with his girlfriend. (2) Or buy the inferior PS3 version of the game, and have no extra cash.

I did my best to explain things. I hope that helped.
Written by incoming00 on 2007/10/07

i'll put it this way. i make enough money to buy 2 ps3's a week. so an extra $20 to play a game on the system i want to play it on doesnt bother me at all...

in my eyes, i'm not throwing any money away if i'm playing it on the console i want to play it on. thats something a marketer wouldnt understand, especially seeing that you're still going above and beyond to "CONVINCE" me to get the 360 version, which i have completely no interest in getting. i've played the 360 version, and to me theres no difference. scores show that there is hardly a difference, especially then the difference in scores are only by .1(according to IGN)

in my eyes, the 360 version is the inferior one, because you have to download all the extra packs to get the whole experience. the PS3 comes with every downloadable content available on the XBL Marketplace already on the disc. and only because of that, MS went ahead and made those downloads free.

so ya, my minds made up. i have my reasons why i want to get games on the PS3 instead of the 360, and they are my own. like stranglehold, i reserved the PS3 version because it comes with the movie Hard Boiled on the same disc. same thing with Spiderman 3, came with playable new goblin mode. and i'm paying an extra 10 bucks for those =P
