Sony Has No Stock To Replace Broken PS3 W/BC On Board? >
2008/04/02 12:15:46: Posted by DM
Many people were beginning to wonder, after Sony cut the backwards compatibilty from the PS3, what would happen when a PS3 unit was sent in for repair and needed to be replaced that had BC built in. Well, it seems the first test case has been revealed. According to this poster over at the GAF, Sony responded with this when he called about his 60GB BC PS3 repair:

"Sorry we don't have any stock of the 60GB left and we don't know when a shipment will arrive to replace your unit. Call back in 2/4 weeks for an update."

The moral of the story is treat your PS3 units that still have BC on board very gently, folks. Very, very, gently!

That sucks but that's what happens when your sku goes bye bye. The 60BG model has been dead for quite sometime.

come to flamingwars to discuss this!!
Written by PimpDaddy on 2008/04/02

Oh whats that a PS3 failed. I thought the hardware was flawless. Yeah come to flaming wars. It's so on...
Written by Krogan Battle Master Urdnot Wrex on 2008/04/02

I've had two Playstation 3 systems that were defective. I don't know if it was a bad batch or what, but I wasn't happy with the performance of the Playstation 3.

Paying $599 for a system that was backward compatible, then having it become defective, and hearing Sony tell you "Tough Luck" is a really bad thing!

According to the post the owner had already waited 6 weeks, before being told to call back in 2-4 weeks. This is very poor planning by Sony, they have yet again demonstrated a lack of commitment to their loyal hardcore customers.

This guy must be part of the less than 1% of ps3 owners that have had hardware issues
Written by blacktiger on 2008/04/02

dudeman is right, i never heard of anyone complaining beside Krogan !

Guys io dont want to have to say this again but come MONDAY, if people insist on arguing here instead of the forum provided for arguing over at FlamingWars, then we will have to start suspending etc, we put up FW because we KNOW some of you love to debate and argue, but we get lots of readers who just want to comment and not get jumped on as well, so we need to provide that atmosphere here, and FW you can argue and debate pretty much without mod interference.. when u see an FW icon, please use it

Give it time the PS3 is basically only a year old. It's all downhill from here :p
Written by PimpDaddy on 2008/04/02

In other word stop being p*ssies and join Flame Wars. Think of it like this. You can say whatever you want to whoever you want and not have to worry about anything. Join FlameWars already. Dudeman has, and he and I have a great time in there debating.
Written by blacktiger on 2008/04/02

Okay PimpDaddy, why would anyone join FW, its beest not to go there because we dont wana see ppl like Krogan in fact, you talk stupid sometimes...

Beside why have a forums when its just a for while arguement... ?
Written by PimpDaddy on 2008/04/03

blacktiger: You must be blind. DM just said that the arguing wont be allowed idiot. The reason you wont join is because your real name should be BlackPussieCat not BlackTiger. No butter. Nuttless. In otherwords your scared. Wont matter soon anyways your trolling ass will be one of the first people banned since your the Playstation Polesmoker equivalent of Krogan on this site.

You guys should support GamersReports by joining thier sister site FlamingWars. I dont get it. They work hard to provide a place where you can read up on videogame news, take part in discussions, and pretty much give all of us a lot of freedom.

The point of FlamingWars is to have really good no holds barred debating. They want GamersReports to be just for reading the news and adding your opinion, not the crap that we all post right now.

PimpDaddy,

The word on the street is that YOU had a "great time," in the Flame Wars, but the reason why YOU had such a great time was because you completely nuked dudeman, as if he was in the middle of an exploding star. Those guys like dudeman and blacktiger didn't have as much fun, because they were the ones getting toasted! lol

I understand what you are saying, though. Aggressive debating should probably take place in the Flame Wars. But normal comments about past experience really don't need to go there. I agree with everything else you said, though.

PimpDaddy, I'm not sure anything other than a Klingon would be the equivalent of a Krogan on this site. The sort of comment that belongs on Flaming Wars is one like this:

"dudeman and blacktiger are lemmings that follow Sony directly over the cliff now that the defect ratio of the PS3 is increasing and poor customer service from Sony is being reported."

But the comment I originally made above is fine for the normal website.

If anyone has any doubts, though, its usually a good idea to put it on FlameWars.

Well Krogan seems to be happy and he's on pimppy's side, the funny part is, hes not allowed...LOL

second of all i dont got time to go that site and diss him...

id rather discuss for few minutes and thats it...

rather than giving u example what Pimpdaddy jsut said to me, imagine he'll tell you like that all the time which can give u a headache... beside let him fight with the kids...

does using F@H since October straight count as "treating gently"? (well, using 98% of the time when not watching movies (and occasional gaming) for the 60-80 other hours)
Written by Krogan Battle Master Urdnot Wrex on 2008/04/04

blacktiger,

I'm not happy about this at all. This is yet another reason why I am like the millions of other games who have been completely disappointed by the Playstation 3.

The 5.9 million "owners" of the Playstation 3 in the world get really poor customer service from Sony. That's not something to be happy about; that's something to be angry about.
Written by dudeman on 2008/04/04

The over 11 million ACTUAL OWNERS of the ps3 are not "unhappy" with their customer service. Want to talk about "Horrible" customer service call 1-800-4MY-XBOX. Worst customer service i've ever experienced.
Written by dudeman on 2008/04/04

what's really sad is 30-40% of all 360 owners MUST call that number at least once a year.
Written by Krogan Battle Master Urdnot Wrex on 2008/04/07

dudeman,

There are only 6 Million "owners" of the Playstation 3. The 11 Million number represents the amount of systems that were "Sold," based on Sony's definition of a unit being produced, and then transfered to their "Retail Inventory."

Even though actualy wholesalers and retailers have not yet purchased those systems, the simple fact that they were built in the factory, and then transfered to Sony's "Retail Inventory," allows Sony to classify the systems as "Sold," according to Sony's definition of what "Sold" means. Sony's definition of what "Sold" means is very different than what Nintendo and Microsoft define as "Sold."

Here is some proof: hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFIDsTsWJHw

In this example, Sony's Jack Tretton is saying that Sony "Sold" 5.5 Million Playstation 3 systems. He says that the Playstation 3 was only 500,000 systems away from "Selling" 6 Million systems--which was Sony's "Sales" goal.

However, the CNBC Interviewer shows a chart making it 100% clear that only 1.4 Million Playstation 3 systems had been "Sold." In other words, there were only 1.4 Million Playstation 3 "Owners."

That is why the interviewer was amazed that Sony's Jack Tretton would even attempt to lie so badly. At CNBC the word "Sold" represents the number of "Owners," but at Sony it isn't like that. This is the reason why Sony looked so incredibly foolish in the interview.

Bottom Line: There are only 6 Million Playstation 3 owners in the world.
Written by dudeman on 2008/04/07

Krogan go to www.flamingwars.com and listen to the reasoning of why there are over 11 million PS3 owners worlwide and why it is Microsoft and not Sony that counts "Retail Inventory" as sold.
