Rare Wants Banjo To Become Xbox360 Mascot >
2008/07/18 13:22:33: Posted by DM
CVG has posted an interview with Rare's Senior Director Mark Betteridge to celebrate Banjo's 10th anniversary in Europe. Rich Cousins, the producer of the latest Banjo game, joins the interview as well. From the beginning, Batteridge makes it clear that he wants to turn Banjo into the Microsoft bear, as it were. He thinks the "time is right for Banjo to be a mascot character for the Xbox360." Without even having one game released? Interesting. What about Master Chief?

I don't see a problem with having multiple mascots.

Nintendo is known for Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, and others.

Microsoft currently has Master Chief from Halo, Marcus Fenix from Gears of War...those are two powerful mascots.

Adding Banjo to the mix could result in Banjo getting hurt if he appears next to Marcus and Master Chief.

However, I think it would be a great idea to create a version of the Xbox 360 that is sold in stores that target kids and younger audiences. Maybe the system could include a Banjo game, and also a Viva Piniata game. Those would be two great mascots to target the younger audience.

Having faceplates with Banjo and Viva Piniata would be a good idea, too.

Krogan no offense to you, but i think your just dumb,

sure they can have more mascot but then it wouldnt matter would it...

Nintendo has only one mascot, and that represent nintendo, the rest is a family to mario...

So if MS has tons of mascot then it dont matter because its too confusing which ones represent the console, all at once won;t work for marketing...

LOL BlackTiger calling somebody else DUMB. I think we are past the age of mascots for consoles.

Back in the day Nintendo had Mario. Sega had Sonic. And Sony had Crash.

Sonic can now be found on multiple consoles. Same with Crash.

See I can use double space too. Looks like BlackTiger is either using Microsoft word to edit his posts. Or he finally climbed out of his moms basement and asked her to type up some of his comments.

Oh and I love this sentence "Krogan no offense to you, but i think your just dumb" How the hell is he supposed to take that comment you f*cking idiot BlackTiger.

Hey BlackTiger. No offense to you but I think your a b!tch. But please dont take offense to what I just said. Dont find it offensive that I called you a b!tch...

Response to PimpDaddy:

LOL...

I think what the stupid and rude person named blacktiger meant to say was:

"I think you're just dumb."

Rather than:

"I think your just dumb."

Ya see, blacktiger, when you call someone dumb, it is a wonderful time to check YOUR grammar.

There is a difference between YOUR and YOU'RE.

For example:

"blacktiger, I do mean to discipline you, since the evidence proves that you're stupid!"

Similarly:

"dudeman, I do mean to discipline you, since the evidence proves that you're delusional."

Don’t worry guys; it doesn’t hurt you when you lose a high-profile exclusive game like Final Fantasy 13. It simply hurts Sony in a major way, because it will have a HUGE IMPACT on hardware sales of the Playstation 3!

lol ooops :p

but its still funny how you want multiple mascot character for one console when Nintendo has only one...

IF YOU KNOW BUSINESS, BELIVE ME ITS BAD FOR MARKETTING !

blacktiger,

Don't worry about it, bro...everybody makes mistakes. I just felt the need to discipline you because you were being so rude.

As far as the mascot thing goes, I think it is alright to have more than one mascot. In fact, I think it is best to have a group of mascots.

Nintendo has more than one mascot, for the record.

When I go in a store like K-Mart or Wal-mart or Target, I don't see "only" Mario. I see big posters and cardboard display stands with Mario, Luigi, Princes, Link, Samus, Pikachu, and others.

Seeing a Microsoft poster with Master Chief, Marcus Fenix, Dom, Cole, and others would be cool.
