Lumines Live XBLA Comes In At 1900 MS Points ($24)! >
2006/08/27 12:12:45: Posted by DM
To begin playign Lumines Live, an initial fee of 1200 Microsoft points ($14.99) must be paid. You will play offline then? That's fine, but your progress will eventually be blocked by a message that says the ‘CPU Mission Pack is required to progress further’. At that point you will need to spend another 300 Microsoft Points ($3.75) to continue. The final blow comes when you start getting into Mission Mode. A transaction of 400 Microsoft points ($5.00) will be required to play the Mission mode in any serious manner. All this adds up to a whopping $23.74.

its fucking 40 dollars to play this crap on psp, consider this a bargin for a better version of it

These microtransactions bore me, I haven't and cannot see myself buying a single one of these.

The psp version is not still 40 dollars.

Personally this is a amazinggly mad. Micro-transactions are gonna make my life a nightmare. The fact sony and nintendo are also approving this is making me wanna stop gaming.

I cannot stand this at all, paying for parts of a product which should be there to start with, and then trying to act like youar actual product is cheap, with all this hidden costs. Its not an small 'expansion pack', its charging people for stuff they should have NOW, purposely withdrawing parts of a product to charge them extra later. I dont mind paying for xbox live games, and xbox360 games, but these extra transactions are pissing me off.

well thats one game i won't be buying, maby for 800 points but not anthing more than 1,000. who do they think will buy this?

*xbox live arcade games

And sorry for other typos.

This is definitely not an expansion pack. They've already done all the coding and testing for the additional components, but, they've placed an artificial software restriction on it. ie. its not like they released the game then started developing new content for it.

On the other hand, they've been doing this in the computer software side for a very long time (think photoshop elements and CS).
Written by Rence (14) on 2006/08/27

Ok, screw this, either make it a full game at put some more content in and sell it for one fixed price on the shelves, or keep it at a normal live arcade price without all the extra money spending crap.

This is just money milking and I won't play along with this shit.. My limit for live arcade stuff is firmly planted at 800 points and that's really pushing it.

Lumines with music videos playing in the background in high def with 5.1 surround? $24 ain't no thang. I would have spent all of that and more if only they'd release it already. C'mon guys where is it?
Written by mike_mgoblue on 2006/08/27

No Xbox Live Arcade game is worth that much. The most I would pay is 800 points. And I don't even pay 400 points for 8-bit games like Joust and Gauntlet; I think those games should be 100 points. The same can be said with Pac-Man and Galaga.

I think I paid 14.99 for Lumines when I bought it a few months ago for my PSP. Fact is, it is a very fun puzzle game. It's sad really, as I agree w/ mike_mgoblue, no XBLA title is worth that much. In fact, I haven't bought a single game on there yet as I refuse to be charged for these crappy games. Lumines is fun, a lot more fun on a handheld as a pick up and play as opposed to my console where I spend more time playing games. MS will continue to nickel and dime people to death.

I will have to get a play of the demo before I commit. I did try this game on PSP and it is one hell of a puzzler so we will see.

has anyone realised theres a port of lumines to java by gameloft for a much cheaper price than either psp or xbla. it may have lost sound quality but none of the gameplay is lost.
Written by Listen (6) on 2006/08/29

Why is it that whenever something is priced terribly on XBLA people blame microsoft?

All microsoft do is provide the service, Its up to the devs to set the pricing. And this price is terrible.

I don't care how much Lumines Live is and here's the reason:

Lumines for the PSP was the top selling PSP game (and probably still is to date) and since it's still fairly recent that game was dropped to the 19.99 price on PSP I wouldn't expect it to be under 19.99 on the XBLA platform.

What all of you don't understand is that MicroSoft knows this is their flagship title for XBLA until better stuff is released so they aren't going to let a gem go for under $20 and I'd be more than happy to pay the $20 if it delivers easy matchmaking for XBL multiplayer.

So stop whining, as long as they release it, you will love it.
