I dunno about that, could be a fake story to increase traffic and such for whatever financial reasons for that site. I really don't think Square-Enix would take FF away from a Sony console seeing that Sony owns a portion of Square-Enix stock.

Just to let everyone know, theres more than one game coming out in the Final Fantasy 13 universe. This means that other systems could get like Final Fantasy 13 CARD BATTLE or Final Fantasy 13 Kart Racing. The main Final Fantasy 13 game and Final Fantasy 13 VERSUS are just for PS3. So yea, I just wanted to clear that up. If you want the most awesome, original version of FFXIII you will need PS3. Is it just me or is this site anti-Sony?

This is good news for 360 owners who are FF fans. (If its true) This would mean they wouldn't have to buy a PS3 for that exclusive game. Ps3 still have lots of Unannounced exclusive in the pipe that I as a 360 owner would like to come my system of choice, I got 3 option. 1 keep dreaming. 2. Buy a PS3. 3. wait for it to become exclusive. I'm sure its the same way for some PS3 owners just vice versa.

FF 13 franchise is 6 games total.. 3 have been announced 2 for ps3 and 1 for mobile... theres 3 left... which is 2 smaller titles and 1 megaton title.. if u check neogaf forums there a circle chart square relased... i believe the last megaton game wll either be a 360 title or wii title.. im learning towards the wii though.. IMO... if that is the case i will be a wii owner day 1

Meh, as sky said, there are a few of "FF13" games coming out, just as there are multiple FF12 games. The flagship, FF13-proper stays on PS3.. everyone else gets have the scraps.

I'm sure Peter Moore is trying to squeeze more out of Square other than FF11. Square is looking at the sales of Blue Dragon in the US and then determine what they really want to do with the series.

Blue Dragon sold OK in Japan, so if they are looking into "fanbase" rather than "userbase", single player J-RPG doesn't suit Xbox360's demographic . I think the chances for the main game to appear on the 360 is slim to none.

Last time I checked hard-core gamers buy Final Fantasy. Not casual gamers. Out of 120 million PS2 owners worldwide how many bought Final Fantasy 12 again??? Give me a break. The 360 is made up of mostly hardcore owners. 10.4 million is a hard user-install base to ignore.

User base at this stage of the console cycle is not enought to convince a company to move thier flagship title to a foreign console space. Fanbase and demographic are more important.

What Capcom did made sense for them. DMC is an action game and Capcom already eastablished a few titles on that platform that were well recieved. However, I'm pretty sure their RPG Breath of Fire won't come to Xbox360, if they ever intend to make one.

Just show me Blue Dragon can have the capacity to do well all around the world, then we'll have a more serious discussion.

Sino: U see U lost me there bro. U need to get over your bias towards the 360 and understand it is not just a FPS console. The original XBOX had alot of different games too. Is it Microsoft's fault that it had the superior hardware last generation to support FPS gaming? Hey I like all kinds of different games, I am not into FPS as much as most people. I bought a 360 and not a Ps3. the 360 has games that cover every genre, or have those games in development. Remember Final Fantasy stayed exclusive to Nintendo till the PS1 launched. Things change. For U or Sky or Smarty Pantz or Twilight_King_69 or anyone else who has an agenda for Sony to win this generation to say that none of these Japanese Role Playing games are coming to the 360 based on past history or your bias towards Sony and against Microsoft is just ridiculous. Microsoft is here to stay...

BTW I do like the PS3. My kids wanted me to buy one this past weekend when i had them. I almost did. Then 1 guy stated the facts about the 360, and this woman who obviously was drunk off of that Sony coolaid started telling me about how the PS3 gives U all these things for $600.00. So to be an ASS I told her well what if I dont want Blue-Ray movies, or what if I have a PC to do my music, pictures, videos, and surf the internet. What if I dont care about playing my old games (backwards compatability). I asked her what gaming experience the PS3 could provide my kids and I that I couldnt already get on my 360. Needless to say she sure STFU real quick. But damn that PS3 looked sexy. I almost made a $600.00 impulse buy. My kids thought it looked coller than the 360 or Wii.

maybe blue dragon, two worlds, oblivion, mass effect, lost odyssey, eternal sonata etc are really not counted.

back to topic, as i always say, let us wait for the official confirmation, the ps3 isn't doing as well as was expected, and the exclusivity rights haven't been paid for, plus this title is still a long ways off

I never seen this before in my life, how you guys are quick to pull out verbal swords over one game switching consoles to spread the gamer love. Can't we all just Play along? I wouldn't give a Sh!t if Jade Empire2 game to PS3, I'll be curious to see how it plays and the changes in it. If anything games are in development now company want to profit now, and not "Wait beyond" so it makes sense for them to go multi.

Several responses:

1. arthur56k, you did a great job talking about how Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Enternal Sonata from Namco, Two Worlds, Oblivions--along with the Shivering Isles expansion, and Mass Effect are AWESOME Role-Playing and Action-RPG style games!

Even Sony's boss, Howard String, specifically said the Playstation 3 isn't doing as well as expected, and the "death blow" from the point of Square Enix was probably when he specifically mentioned how Japan was one of the major places where the Playstation 3 was not doing nearly as well as expected. After all, Japan is the "Home of the RPG," and Xbox 360 has a LOT of AWESOME RPG's on the way. In fact, Microsoft is even creating a pack-in deal similar to the Blue Dragon one, where Eternal Sonata will be packed in with the game in Japan.

2. NUTTSACK, I fully agree with you, as well. I really couldn't believe what I was reading from some of the things that our friend, sino, was saying. We know for sure that Capcom has said they have six to seven Xbox 360 games in development that will be released within the next year, while they only have three Playstation 3 games that will be released during that same time period. I think simple logic tells us that Capcom's Breath of Fire RPG series would CERTAINLY come to the Xbox 360, and likely the PC!

In fact, it wouldn't be surprising if games like Ace Combat 6 and Ridge Racer continue to move away from the Playstation platforms for the first time, and come to the Xbox 360, like they have been. In fact, look at the way Ace Combat 6 is going to appear exclusively on the Xbox 360!

The Xbox 360 is now the primary development platform for third-party development companies; for the same reason as the PS2 was last generation--because the Xbox 360 is by far the sales leader in the next-generation era. The BIG difference between the Xbox 360 and the PS2 and PS3 is the development friendly programming environment for the Xbox 360. Last generation, the original Xbox had the best programming environment, but the PS2 was still the primary development environment for third-party companies, all because it was the sales leader. Thankfully, the Xbox 360 now has BOTH of those benefits; the Xbox 360 has the friendliest development environment, and it is the worldwide sales leader. This is the reason why so many developers have said they love to work with the Xbox 360 as the primary development platform.

The potential really bad thing for the PS3 can actually be found in the way some of the developers were talking to Next-Generation in an article from this week. The PS3 developer pointed out that it is very easy to port a game from the PS3 to the Xbox 360, while it is actually difficult to port a game designed to optimize the Xbox 360 hardware to the PS3. It was the developer of that game called Lair who was actually saying these things.

This is likely the reason why companies like Namco have now started developing games like Ace Combat 6 with a goal of releasing them exclusively for the Xbox 360. Games like Tekken 6 started out being planned as PS3 games; they didn't start out with the idea of being built from the beginning for the Xbox 360, like Ace Combat 6. The development of Ace Combat 6 started long after the PS3 was seen as a disappointment, and it was planned for the Xbox 360. If the PS3 would have had a more developer friendly gave environment, Ace Combat 6 would have had a better chance of seeing a multi-platform release.

NUTTSACK, took the time to point out a few things about how the original Xbox was obviously the title of, "The King of First-Person-Shooter games," just like the Xbox 360 keeps that title, and adds many new ones, such as "The King of Third-Person-Shooter games," "The King of Racing-Games," and "The King of Sports Games."

At this point in time, whether anyone ants to believe it or not, the FACT of the matter is the Xbox 360 RPG lineup is more impressive than other next-gen competition. And with AWESOME games like Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey and Eternal Sonata on the way, the RPG lineup is likely going to remain the best on the Xbox 360.

4. We should also just keep in mind the simple fact that reliable websites like IGN and Gamespot have reminded us many times that third-party Japanese companies have more games in development for the Xbox 360 than they do for the Playstation 3. North American and European third-party developers always had more games in development for the Xbox 360, but it is quite amazing how the Japanese videogame business now fully recognizes the importance of global business structures. As a result, we have seen an incredible amount of support for the Xbox 360 that was not seen with the original Xbox.

5. Look at the number of third-party games released or scheduled on the Xbox 360 that can be considered "big-name franchises" that did not appear on the original Xbox. This is a HUGE improvement for the Xbox 360, and that is why the Xbox 360 is the worldwide sales leader in the next-generation.

Consider that none of the Devil May Cry appeared on the original Xbox, but the Xbox 360 will be receiving the best version of Devil May Cry 4--the version that true fans of the Devil May Cry series will appreciate--the version that keeps the Rumble features all of us have grown used to and would love to hang on to.

Consider that the original Xbox was the only system that generation that didn't feature Resident Evil. In this next-genation of gaming we are currently experiencing, Capcom will be releasing Resident Evil 5 for the Xbox 360, and it looks AMAZING!!!

Consider the way the Grand Theft Auto games were released for the original Xbox, but after they were released on the PS2 first. With the Xbox 360, we will be seeing Grand Theft Auto 4 released simultaneously on both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3, plus the Xbox 360 will be the only version that keeps the cool rumble features we have all grown so used to, and the Xbox 360 version will feature exclusive online content that will obviously be THE BEST thanks to Xbox Live!!!

All of those examples are further evidence showing that things aren't just, "balanced," this time. The fact of the matter is, circumstances are very much in favor of the Xbox 360, as the reviews and sales figures show, along with all of the extra downloadable content for the Xbox 360.

For example, look at the way the Xbox 360 version of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance from Capcom allows you to download EIGHT new characters such as the Incredible Hulk, Magneto, NightCrawler, and Cyclops, while the Playstation 3 version does not allow that.

Also, consider the way that the Shivering Ises expansion pack that adds over 30 hours of gameplay to Oblivion is nowhere to be seen for the Playstation 3.

Obviously, it is the Playstation 3 that is doing without the software content this generation.

6. NUTTSACK, I'm curious, when the person you were speaking with mentioned that the $600 PS3 had the version to watch Blu-ray movies, did you point out to her that the $400 Xbox 360 also has the ability to use the Internet and the Hard Drive to watch high-definition movies, as well as high-definition TV shows not available on Blu-ray?

Blu-ray movies can't be rented where I live; there is not enough demand. The only high-definition movies that can be rented are the Hybrid Combo discs where it is a DVD on one side and an HD-DVD on the other. With that in mind, where I live, the Xbox 360 offers a MUCH larger selection of movies to rent than Blu-ray. And all of those TV shows you can purchase for such a low price are nowhere to be seen on Blu-ray disc. On my Xbox 360, I have seen just about every Star Trek and CSI show available, and they look GREAT!!!

7. Twilight_King_69, the way I remember Square Enix explaining things, they originally said there was going to be Final Fantasy 13 and also the Final Fantasy 13 Versus game. The way the websites and magazines reported on it, the only one considered a potentially exclusive game was Final Fantasy 13. In fact, many websites even suggested that PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers could possible play against each other in Final Fantasy 13 Versus. We received confirmation that Final Fantasy 13 was not an exclusive game for the PS3 weeks ago when Sony Europe let that information spill. This article is just further confirmation that a deal for "exclusivity" could not be arranged due to the fact that the Xbox 360 obviously offers a larger source of revenue than Sony was willing to pay for exclusive rights to the Playstation 3, since the PS3 installed base is too low at this point in time, just like Sony's executive, Phil Harrison has said.

Based on the industry rumors, especially now that Square Enix has rearranged their business structure with new management at the top-levels, it appears Final Fantasy 13 will also be available on the Xbox 360 and PC, in addition to the PS3. The same can be said for the Versus version of Final Fantasy; it will likely be on Xbox 360, PC, and PS3. The bottom line is the PC is the biggest market of all, and it would be foolish to avoid porting a PC game to the Xbox 360.

8. I should also probably point out that the rumors of a potential Final Fantasy game that would be appearing only on Xbox 360 and PC Games for Windows is in the works. If that is true, then it is the Playstation 3 that will be without one of the major Final Fantasy games.

9. B1ueadmiral, I like the way you aren't afraid to point out that this website isn't "anti-Sony" or more specifically, "Anti-Playstation 3," as if often appears.

The fact of the matter is that there is just a LOT of bad news often spoken about the Playstation 3. So, that is why people are often discussing or debating things related to the Playstation 3 that can be classified as, "bad," or "anti-Sony."

In all honesty, it doesn't help the way that some of the few remaining PS3 "fanboys" have what appears to be a hypocritical and childlike attitude. For example, PS3 fans were always happy for some reason about the way Unreal Tournament 2007 was always announced only for the PC and the PS3. However, the Xbox 360 fans would constantly point out that whenever their was a release date announcement made, it included disclaimer words like, "At this time," or "Currently." There were a couple of people in particular who just didn't want to accept the fact that people on the website were saying things like, "That's business talk for, 'Unreal Tournament 2007 will be announced for Xbox 360 at a later time.'" But, that is EXACTLY what happened!!!

In fact, when Midway's CEO announced that Unreal Tournament 2007 was being renamed Unreal Tournament 3, he even pointed out that the PC and Xbox 360 versions were the ones that would be released first! I was anxious to see what some of those PS3 supporters would say about that, and I couldn't believe what I was hearing (seeing). Those PS3 people were now saying things like, "Who cares about Unreal; I hate that game series anyways!" I was thinking to myself, "Gimme a break!" It was almost as if the only reason those people wanted the game as an exclusive was just to be mean and hateful.

The "series" will not be exclusive. Likely going to the DS much like FF12.

I just think there is too much information similar to the things said about other former PS3 exclusive games that have now been Officially announced for Xbox 360. I think those sources of information can be relied on now. I think there is an excellent chance both FF 13 and MGS 4 will end up on the Xbox 360, just like they keep saying. I wouldn't be surprised if those games are currently in development for the Xbox 360, as we speak, just like those people have been saying.

The word on the street I had heard was that Square Enix was inviting Microsoft to their 20th Anniversary party of Final Fantasy in May, and the FF 13 game would be announced for Xbox 360 at that point in time. The way it was explained to me, it seemed like it was going to be set up as a surprise announcement. But, this sort of magazine article does a pretty good job of taking the surprise out of it.

the game in question here is the Fabula Nova Crystallis game of the FFXIII series. not sure which one this is in the whole series of FFXIII games but that is the one that was commented on. regardless if this is the "main" game everyone is talking about, i dont know, but maybe we can stop bickering like children in this pissing contest about systems.

i just read up on this and it seems that Nova Crystallis is just the name for the series of FFXIII games, so Vae was right, the series is not a ps3 exclusive.

Also, if you check the Wikipedia site for Square, they make reference to the fact that Square Enix have more games in development for the various Nintendo platforms than the other two combined. The DS will likely be the primary recipient of these additional titles.

It's hard to say which games to get. Not sure what you prefer or what you have on the 360. I own Resistance, Motorstorm and Oblivion. They are all very good games. When F.E.A.R. comes out, I'll buy that as well. Oblivion is a ton of fun and runs quite well aside from the few hiccups w/ framerate dips.

Well Mr New York your welcome. However I will continue to bust your balls about anything too Pro-PS3/Anti-360 because I love to F*CK with people on this site. They take their gaming way too serious... I'm not really going to trade in my 360 because I sold it to my former and now once again current roommate along with my 65" 1080i rear projection Mitsubishi HDTV. So now that I have access to his TV and 360 it's on like Donkey Kong. I have been sitting on the fence with the PS3 to see if the price drops and what games stay exclusive. But I have this unnatural attraction to the PS3. It's like the One Ring from LOTR. I need the "PRECIOUS" LMAO.....

I need help with this though. I want a small 1080P HDTV for my bedroom. I have a small ass bedroom but my roommate has the 65" HDTV in the living room. Does anybody have good advice on what Brand, Model, Size, etc... I should buy. It's about quality to me, not price at this point. I will buy a bigger 60"+ HDTV once the prices come down and the newer technologies come out. I just need something good to keep in my bedroom.

I primarily play Gears of War. When the Halo 3 Beta hits I'll be playing that a lot as well. I'll be playing Halo 2 here and there, but will probably stick to Gears until something else comes out on the 360 that piques my interest.

The PS3 is an excellent machine, and if you have the $$ to spend on it, I highly recommend it. If you don't and own a 360, hold off. However, that being said, I recommend everyone who is a true gamer to eventually get one. There are quality titles to play now, and some killer apps on the horizon.

The Blu-Ray playback is outstanding FWIW.

The Sony XBR's are quite nice. I have a 42" and the picture quality is amazing. Watched "Planet Earth" mini-series on the Discovery Channel HD Theater and it was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen.

Qualitywise on tv.

The enhanced/exclusive content goes both ways. There are games on the PS3 now, (and in development) that have features that the XBox 360 versions don't have. You mention for instance Oblivion, well the PS3 version includes more content out of the box. The Godfather does as well. So does Splinter Cell: Double Agent. So it's a bit of a tossup. Besides, it's still early in the PS3's and it's games lives. Some of the stuff you mentioned could come down the road.

It's also a tad early to be making any claims about install base king. At the rate the Nintendo Wii is selling, it'll probably be #1 before the end of the year. As more developers get experience working with the PS3, it's quite possible we may start to see some shift from developing on PS3 and porting to 360, if what the Lair developers said about it being much easier to port that way than the other way around is true.

Actaully Mr New York and I have something in common, we like to talk alot of shit and rile up the PS3 or 360 loyalists on this site. I tend to "Jump In" on the 360 side. Mr New York tends to "Play Beyond" on the PS3 side. That being said nobody has been able to match insults with me on this forum. So I will take that crwon thank you very much. Mass Effect, Two World and Oblivion are not J-RPG.

Just show me the numbers of Blue Dragon, and I will be convinced JRPG can do well for Xbox360. This is also about fanbase and demograpchics. User base is not everything especially this early in the console cycle.

If Xbox360 hits 50 million then I think companies have no reason not to bring games on it. You know I'm really fucking not care if FF13 goes to PS3 or any other console, I have a 360 right now and going to buy a PS3 next year so It really doesn't matter to me personally what games appear on where.

What I said makes sense to me. If I was in Square's shoes I would look at the same things.

I know, I can list Viva Pinata, Forza, Halo, Bioshock, Banjoo and a whole bunch of games, but be in Square's shoes. What do Square make, JRPG, they have to look at their target marktet and see if they can benefit by releasing a game for it.

I'm suprised nobody mentioned Enchanted Arms, and it's not even a bad game, it didn't do so well sales wise. Let's just tell it like it is and not pretend there is no weakness in any particular consoles.

Again, Square is beginning to align itself w/ Nintendo again. If FF is going anywhere it will be there.

Also, the most popular titles on the Xbox systems are w/o a doubt shooters, hence the stereotyping. Being known for having shooters is not a bad thing. Those games tend to be the most fun to play, especially online which = replayability which = $60 purchase worthy.

the Wii and DS success may have a lot to do with that reallignment, it makes perfect business sense.

I am not a Sony fanboy, but you have to admit there are more negative Sony news on this site than for the other companies. Like I read news about Xbox 360 scracthing disks and about the red ring of death, but rarely do I see them posted on the site. I dont know but thats just the way I feel.

There is a lean,whether it is anti-Sony, pro MS, or both, there can be no doubt about that. The numbers of pro Sony members on this board have grown, so that offers a bit more balance than there was a few months ago. Now if only some could make decent arguments instead of resorting to childish antics, we may make additional progress.

Actually, a big deal has being made recently in Sweden or Holland IIRC about discs being scratched. MS has offered to help w/ the problem, but assured customers that they wouldn't get a new Xbox.

@Twilight, I seen the same amount of PS3 bads news on other sites too. I've also seen good news about the 360 that doesn't make it here and vice versa for the PS3. My opinion on this site is that the Pro-Sony boys always find something to bitch about and then get shut down by the 360 boys. So that might make it seems like a Anti- Ps3 site. Lots of people need to learn how to separate Facts from Fiction.

Ya know, now that I think about it, there isn't anything, "almost," about it!

The fact of the matter is that websites have a lot more positive things to say about the Xbox 360 and the Wii, because there are great things to say about all of the great games currently available and scheduled for released for the Xbox 360 and the Wii.

With the Playstation 3, the headlines usually relate to the fact that games previously only appearing on the Playstation 2 are now "also appearing" or "only appearing" on the Xbox 360; for example DMC4 and Resident Evil 5 are also appearing on Xbox 360, while Ace Combat 6 is only appearing on Xbox 360.

Information like that doesn't make this website biased towards or against anyone. It just causes us to focus our attention and direct our positive energy on the Xbox 360. This makes it so the Playstation 3 ends up with the negative energy. This is pretty simple stuff in life, but it has nothing to do with bias of a website. In fact, this website was just reporting on what another magazine had written.
