I came here to post this news.

I'm trying to get a free 512mb card as we speak lol

Eh didn't work damn.

That's a clever way to get rid of your stock. Kudos MS, write that shizzle off and wash your hands of it, lol.

This is costing them a fortune
Written by VaeVictus on 2008/10/13

They'll write it off.

Target has been selling the HDD for $20.
Written by Xenos on 2008/10/13

Link? I've seen them for $60 but not $20.

I don't understand how they could write this off, that's $$ lost on those memory cards, HDDs, and free live cards.

Let's continue downplaying a good move by MS though, I didn't expect this when that they are working on a storage solution

edit: live cards are $9 sorry

I'm not downplaying it at all. It's pretty sweet.

I'm sure the MS guys aren't going to just take a loss on this. I'm sure they're losing money, but they aren't taking as HUGE a hit as you might think. I worked electronics retail for 6 years, you'd be surprised at how these companies can get work things out "in the books."

Ok I'll take your word for it, didn't know since this is being done on a worldwide scale.

Regardless, this is honestly the only option MS has, surprised they realized it, didn't think they were that smart.
