There is an interesting story on how I came to review this battery for Mugen. As I received a new Verizon HTC 6800 Mogul for Christmas and did not want to carry a charger with my everywhere, I decided to look for an extended battery. Well, the only company that made a 3600mAh battery was a company called Mugen in Europe. So, I ordered this battery for $85 USD. A few days later I received an e-mail from the great folks at Mugen, asking what exactly we do here at GamersReports and would we be interested in taking the battery for review. Well, long story short is that the fine folks over at Mugen sent us the battery to test out with the Verizon xv6800 and tell you, our readers, how it holds up for games and general use.

The battery specs are as follows:

Extended Size Hi–Power 3600mAh Battery for HTC P6800 (Spring Mogul) PPCs., UT STarcom/Verizon XV6800, Sprint PPC 6800 PPCs.
Li–Ion, 3.7V, 3600mAh
Color: Black with silver–grey battery cover

The original battery that is included with the phone is a n 1100mAh battery with a slim profile. You can buy replacement batteries of the same physical size at 2400mAh, but I figured, why not go for the best if you are going to go for it? The phone still fits in the car cradle and the belt holster with Mugen’s battery and replacement battery cover. It does make the width of the phone around 2.5 inches, but for me, the trade off in power is well worth it.

Installation is a snap, you just pop in the new battery from Mugen and snap on the replacement cover they send with the battery. In fact, the replacement cover Mugen provides is superior to the OEM cover in my opinion. The black cover the phone comes with is very thin and almost cardboard-like. The one that comes with the Mugen battery is much more solid plastic, and give the phones a much more solid feel. The camera on the phone works perfect still, and even the “2 Megapixel” logo is replicated on the Mugen cover. Some people just refuse to carry a cell phone that is not the size of a MiniSD card, but for me, as I said, performance beats all.
