Sony Onilne Entertainment, one of the biggest MMO publishers in the business, is apparently not immune to the state of the economy. In a statement today, SOE confirmed that they have laid off 5% of its staff, which equals to around 41 workers. Everquest, one of SOE's most popular and longest running MMO games out there, recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary. One of its newest MMO games, Free Realms, a microtransaction-based, free-to-play MMO, just hit 3 million users. It seems like SOE is doing fairly well, but the layoffs say otherwise.
