Mr. New York,

You and I are finally agreeing with something. I am pleased to see Tekken 5 coming to the Playstation 3, because that is the key to seeing Tekken 6 being released for the Xbox 360.

According to the reports on the Internet, Namco signed a contract to develop a Tekken game exclusively for the PS3. Originally that game was going to be Tekken 6, which doesn't include online play for the PS3.

But the combination of poor Playstation 3 sales in both Japan and North America, plus the excellent sales of the Xbox 360 in North America & Europe--the two markets where Tekken is most popular, have caused Namco to be motivated to release Tekken 6 for the Xbox 360, just like Sega changed their mind and decided to release Virtua Fighter 5 for the Xbox 360.

Well, Namco did the smart thing by coming up with this idea for Tekken 5 for the PS3. That way, they can fulfill their contractual obligation for a Tekken game that is exclusive to the PS3, while at the same time being able to release Tekken 6 for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360.

We live in the 21st century, and I really don't like the idea of playing fighting games that don't offer Online Play.

Games like Dead or Alive 4 on the Xbox 360 are AWESOME because you can play fighting games at 60 frames-per-second and still play Online!

I now look forward to playing Virtua Fighter 5, but I am a consumer rights advocates sort of person. I was never going to buy the Playstation 3 version, simply because Sega didn't include Online play. If people buy those games, then the game companies will not hear the voices of the people, and they will continue to release even more Playstation 3 games that do not include online gameplay.

We know that Tekken 6 for the PS3 and Virtua Tennis 3 and Tony Hawk don't include online play for the Playstation 3...

But thankfully games like Virtua Tennis 3, Tony Hawk, and Virtua Fighter 5 include online play on the Xbox 360...Hopefully, (almost certainly) Tekken 6 will include online play for the Xbox 360 when Namco decides to officially announce it. Why they are waiting is beyond me, because everyone knows it is coming.

Well Unbiased (is this some bad joke of yours or something?) Technology Professor, good job at spreading lies again.

VF will not have live multiplayer. Did u notice that I omitted "5" from VF. This is because VF will NEVER offer online multiplayer, not unless the online service can be 100% lag free (by 100% I mean at a steady 60fps rate) and that's not gonna happen anytime soon. And if u had any idea about fighting games u would know that online play is for noobs and for fun only. VF mechanics are so tight that no fun is possible with lag. DOA is a perfect example of a noob/fun game and of course it supports online (and if u like to think that is lag free at 60fps it's your right, not the truth), but good luck playing it with the totally worthless dpad of the 360.

Now, I have a quention: How come "Unbiased Technology Professor" can post longer comments than me???????

My original post had fewer words/letters/lines than his but still I couldn't submit it.

Ahhh, that's how! Carrying on........

Speaking of the dpad, its impossible to play any fighting game with it. Sixaxis will do, but for a perfect VF experience, there is the official VF stick or 2 other sticks for PS3 from top stick maker Hori. They are usb but PS3 only (and propably can connect them to a PC like the sixaxis, which is cool).

The only argument is that the 360 being the later version will be based on the C version of the arcade VF while the PS3's is based on the B version, but can u say "update".

So the facts:

PS3: superior Dpad, time exclusive

360: hmm, achivements? (ROFL)

The PS3 is the main version of the game end of story, let's compare the sales of VF on the two consoles a year from now, shall we? And I would love to compare the two consoles graphics too, good luck to Gamespot trying to figure out how to give the 360's version a better score than the PS3's.

PS: the online thing is something that sega (not me) has repeatedly denied for VF. I guess that it can't be helped, those 360 fanboys asuming live multiplayer comes naturally, no?

Fanboys don't spread lies.

Game_Demon, sounds like you got all your info from Shane @ 1Up, lol...

don't discount the 360 version until it's actually out. i wonder who's really unbiased?

Response to Game_Demon:

Uhhhhh, Gamespot--and many other websites and magazines--do NOT need your offer for "luck" to rate Xbox 360 games higher than Playstation 3 games...BECAUSE THEY ALREADY DO RATE THE Xbox 360 GAMES HIGHER!!!

Seriously, who in the universe would want to play an EA Sports game or a 2K Sports game on the Playstation, when the PS3 games DON'T include Online Voice Chat, like they DO on the Xbox 360!

There are some things you need to know, my friend. Please pay attention to this so you can catch the point I am making:

Sega "said" "many times" that Virtua Fighter 5 would only be on the Playstation 3.

Well, now we know that Sega has "Officially Announced" Virtua Fighter 5 for the Xbox 360.

Now, think about this:

Sega has "said" they would not include Online play in Virtua Fighter 5 for the Playstation 3, because they claim that they will not include online play in a fighting game that runs at 60 frames-per-second, since they feel it doesn't work properly at that speed.

Well, Dead or Alive 4 is actually one of the more popular Online games for the Xbox 360 in Japan, so I assume that Sega's programmers have played it. They probably have now changed their beliefs. Don't be surprised if Sega "Officially Announces" a contradictory statement that says VF5 on the Xbox 360 will be Online, just like Dead or Alive 4.

We know for a fact that the Xbox 360 can handle a high-definition fighting game Online without any lag, even when it is running at 60 frames-per-second, because Dead or Alive 4 successfully satisfies those requirements.

So, it is FAR MORE LOGICAL to conclude that Sega was SPECIFICALLY referring to the Playstation 3 when they said, "It isn't possible to create Virtua Fighter 5 in a way that allows online play running at 60 frames-per-second."

We know for a fact that the Xbox 360 can meet those requirements, because Dead or Alive 4 proves this. It is VERY REASONABLE to believe that Sega was talking only about the Playstation 3 when they said that it isn't possible to create Virtua Fighter 5 in a way that allows online play. The Xbox 360 from Sega will ALMOST CERTAINLY include online play, just like Dead or Alive 4.

Want more proof of this:

How about the fact that Virtua Tennis 3--from Sega--does NOT include online play for the Playstation 3, but it DOES include online play for the Xbox 360.

The evidence STRONGLY suggests that it is logical to conclude we will see Online Play for the Xbox 360 version of Virtua Fighter 5.

Wow, just wow. It's amazing that your "FAR MORE LOGICAL" becomes fact in your eyes. Biased assumptions do not equal facts.
Written by Game_Demon on 2007/02/09

Wow UTP, I can now make 2 LOGICAL conclusions about u.

1) U have no idea what VF is.

2) U have no idea what lag is.

I give u the correct answers starting with the 2nd part.

Even if the framerate of the game becomes 30fps (from the noraml 60fps) while playing online, u can't tell the difference. The human eye (acually the human brain) can only catch 24 frames a second. And anyone that knows about online, knows that 30fps is actually good latency. LIVE service is not delivering 60fps, get over it.

VF is a game that can be played only in 60fps. Any average VF player knows the frame data of his favorite players, and key frame data of all the characters in the game (and potential opponents), that's more than 1000 numbers stored in the brain of an AVERAGE VF player. This way he constructs the flowcharts that he uses while playing. This is how AM2 designed the game, and this is the essence of VF. Even the japanese arcade VF5 was denied (the horror) online play, (yes japanese arcades have excellent online capabilities).

AM2 (and Sega) will loose face if she gave online play for VF5. Even the VF players don't want online service for VF5 (or any VF for that reason). U can say it's just an option for those who choose to play VF online, and option is a good thing, right? right? WRONG because it splits the fighting games community in two. And sega knows that and don't want that.

The only ones who want that are 360 fanboys. They don't even want to play the game, just brag about it. It's sad.

NOT GONNA HAPPEN

I belong to the fighting games community, do u UTP? I consider myself veteran in fighting games, I was here since "Karate Champ" (watch the movie "Bloodsport" to find out what this is). In fighting game issues don't bother arguing with me. I'm not just some guy who read the 1UP piece. I'm more fit than u to draw LOGICAL concusions for VF.
