Pete Hines From Bethesda Says DLC Price Isnt The Issue >
2007/03/20 10:09:00: Posted by DM
Apparently, price is not the issue when it comes to downloadable content. According to Pete Hines, the VP of Bethesda Softworks, if gamers feel they are getting a good deal, they will buy it nomatter what the price. Bethesda learned this lesson with their downloadable horse armor. It costs 200 MS Points, and many complained it was too much. Pete says this is because the item simply wasnt "cool."

i know the effort needed for making this content so the price is really nothing.

I think Hines is a bit mistaken about the horse DLC. I think gamers complained because they felt they shouldn't be charged for what was really a bug fix for shoddy AI coding with the original game content. Whenever I got off the horse to battle someone, the enemy AI would ALWAYS target the horse first and me second. I even came across a few cases where the enemies would gang up on the horse and completely ignore me, even though i was furiously slashing away at them. As you can imagine, this became a very expensive programming oversight and caused my character to dish out thousands for a new horse every time i ventured off. IMO this had not a whole lot to do with coolness.
