PRESS RELEASE

FOSTER CITY, Calif., July 27 -- Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. (SCEA) today announced an exclusive game development deal with Eat, Sleep, Play(TM), a new software development company formed by legendary game creators David Jaffe and Scott Campbell. Under the agreement, Eat, Sleep, Play is signed on for a multi-year, multi-title deal to create titles for the PlayStation family of products, with the first slated for release in 2008.

Based in Utah, Eat, Sleep, Play is a newly formed company founded by David Jaffe, a former creative director for SCEA's Santa Monica Studios; and Scott Campbell, the founder of Incognito Entertainment, a dedicated development studio also under the SCEA Santa Monica Studios banner. Jaffe is perhaps best known as the co-creator and game director behind the multi-million PlayStation(R) platform franchises Twisted Metal(R) on PS one(R) & PlayStation(R)2 and God of War(R) on PlayStation 2. Campbell, a long-time collaborator with Jaffe and co-creator of the Twisted Metal titles, is currently receiving industry praise for Incognito's PLAYSTATION(R)3 (PS3(TM))-exclusive online air and ground combat game Warhawk(TM). Additionally, Jaffe and Campbell recently collaborated efforts on Calling All Cars(TM), a popular exclusive downloadable title for PLAYSTATION(R)Network.

In addition to the multi-year, multi-title deal to create titles for the PlayStation family of products, the company will also be creating Twisted Metal(R): Head On for PlayStation 2, which is scheduled to be released this winter. Twisted Metal: Head On will feature lost levels from the never released Twisted Metal: Black(R) Part II and a documentary on the series.

"We are extremely pleased to be working with David and Scott and supporting them in their new endeavor," said Shuhei Yoshida, senior vice president, product development, SCEA. "Through hit after hit, they have established themselves as two of the most talented individuals this industry has ever seen, and I look forward to seeing what kind of further gaming innovation they can bring to the PlayStation brand through our new development deal."

In conjunction with today's news, SCEA confirmed that the core members of the Incognito team responsible for Warhawk will remain within the SCEA Santa Monica Studios fold, headed up by Dylan Jobe, and will continue to produce content for this highly-anticipated title. Jobe, game director for Warhawk, is known for his work on the popular hit titles War of the Monsters(TM) and Twisted Metal: Black(R) for PlayStation 2.

Good news for Sony-fans. More exclusive goodies from Jaffe :)

I guess Sony owns GoW and all things associated. He probably didn't want to be forced to keep developing GoW related titles for the rest of his life.

this means no GoW3?

God of War 3 was never in development, so this isn't a surprise.

The staff members probably wanted to work on something else.

Um no it doesn't.

cant wait for the PS3 versions of GoW 3 and TM woohoo!!

@etch,

You are going to be very happy then, because the Playstation 3 will keep you waiting for games for YEARS, since it doesn't have any, and 50% of the ones you just mentioned aren't even in development yet.

Yes, but at least we'll have something to look forward to. Go back to your hellhole xbot.

i thought God of War 3 wasnt up to David Jaffe seeing that he stepped down from God of War 2 to work on other projects. theres a whole different staff for the GOW series, so this just means that he wont be working on it, but other goodies =)

Games are still made by people. That is how we knew that Heaven Sword was going to suck, which it does...that is why it is now called Heavenly Flop.

People wouldn't want a God of War game without the primary developers working on it.

did he?well if thats the case then i think its also good that he'll be working on other stuff... hopefully new IPs!

how can it be called heavenly flop if it aint out yet
Written by SupremeChaotic on 2007/07/27

Probably the same reason you Sony boys are blasting Halo 3 as looking mediocre and average gameplay.

Go ahead... you can slap your hand against your chest repeatedly and go "duh" really loud now.

@CianMCL, Heavenly Sword is now called Heavenly Flop on the Internet because of the playable demo of the game. Two things were confirmed by that demo: (1) The In-Game graphics are pathetic when compared to the cut-scene graphics. (2) The game really isn't fun to play; it really is a button mashing experience.

I would also like to point out that even the hardcore Metal Gear Solid 4 fans are very disappointed with the In-Game graphics of Metal Gear Solid 4. Now we know two things (a) We now know WHY Konami didn't want to show actual In-Game graphics while the game is being played. (b) We now know WHY the Metal Gear Sold 4 Graphic Engine is NOT popular in the same way that the Unreal Graphic Engine is!

SupremeChaotic:

Today Microsoft had a special event where the Campaign mode of Halo 3 was seen while being played for the first time ever by people outside of Bungie.

The level of "graphic detail," in Halo 3 is absolutely amazing! There is a HUGE boss that "can be killed in dozens of different ways." One of the ways described was to grab this huge machine gun and damage his knees. Then, when he falls, go and climb up his back and blast the Covenant members that were inside controlling him.

That sounds AWESOME!!!

The SIZE of the game is absolutely HUGE. There are over 10,000 things that will be said by characters in the game! That is how HUGE the Halo 3 game is.

And keep showing how unintelligent you are with your child-like insults, sicbud.

the game lookls better than the beta, but bungie did say it would, that is halo 3, as for HS, hope they get the issues sorted out in time for release, and there goes the argument about how Sony doesnt pay for exclusives, where are the fanbots when you need them
