Little Big Planet Release Delayed In Europe > |
2008/10/17 9:11:19: Posted by DM | |
Sorry Europeans, we have some bad news for you today. It looks like Sony is going to pull a boney again on you. Little Big Planet has been delayed in Europe until November 14, 2008. The game was originally due for release next week, October 24, but Sony told GI the game now has a bit more to go. Sony did say they may be able to put the game out a bit earlier, but they will update everyone when and if they have an earlier release day. Sorry again, Europeans.

That sucks. I wonder if they are having localization issues?
From further investigation, it seems that some durka durka was offended by some wording mixed to music. Apparently, setting quran wording to music is offensive.:Picard: X's a billion.

It's delayed worldwide. All aboard the failboat. Sony didn't want their offices bombed I guess.

Victus is right, this delay is worldwide, not just the PAL region.I think it's a good move and impressive that they were able to catch it so quickly, kudos to sony and MM.

Ugh, that sucks. I'll refrain from taking a pot shot at religion, but it's taking a lot of willpower.Couldn't they have just patched the game? You pop the disk in and as soon as you try to connect to PSN, it says there's an updated and it just updates the game to exclude the offending song(s)? I know it wouldn't be 100% effective, since some people might play it without being connected to the internet, but for those in that boat who take offense, Sony/MM could just offer an apology and a free replacement disc plus a code for a free Mohammed sackboy outfit.Yes, I went there...

Wow madgunde, I hope you're joking.

Actually, MM did have a patch for day 1. It was a Sony decision to delay the game's release. I think (if you research) that it's wholly stupid to delay it b/c of offending someone. The story behind the story is that this artist is very popular, has never had a single complaint about his song, is a practicing Muslim and legally licensed his music to MM/SOny for use in the game. People are too sensitive to things like this. Especially the "peace" loving types.

@XenosYes, my post was intended to be read with tongue planted firmly in cheek. ;-)See, it's funny because of the irony. Well, I think it is anyway.

Oh ok, yeah I agree it's stupid that the world has gone soft, but what are you going to do. This isn't the first nor the last time this will happen.
