	According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Microsoft employees knew of the disc-scratching issue that many users experienced with the console. The class-action lawsuit, filed in July 2007, demands compensation from Microsoft for the design flaw. There is even a statement by Microsoft's Program Manager, Hiroo Umeno, who suggests that the company knew full well that discs could be damaged when the Xbox360 was re-oriented. >Link

Of course they knew, it was in the manual to NOT move your console while a game is inside. Hell anyone with common sense should know about it.

Yeah, they could have taken steps for a cost, but who really needs to move their console while playing games? This whole thing is stupid and old, it would be one thing if discs were scratched during normal play, but that isn't the case.

Either way, MS knew how f*cked up there hardware was when the released the Xbox 360. 30% Failure Rate? I'd say close to 100% failure rate of Launch 360's. This disc scratching was just a cherry on top. I know people who didn't move their console with a game inside, and still got a perfect ring on their discs. MS f*cked up, although I still love them.

I don't love MS, in fact I hate them in many ways. They are (mostly) smart in the game industry for being relatively young players in the field.

That's about the only good thing I can say about the company, their game department or entertainment and devices division is their saving grace IMO.
