According to this Gamespot interview with Mark Rein, the main man from Epic, Unreal Tournament 3 is running better at this time on the PS3 than Gears Of War was running at an equivalent time last year on the Xbox360. On top of this, Rein confirmed that there will be free game mods for download. He also promised that the sky's the limit for the mods, even new game modes are creatable. Sounds fantastic! There will be a map editor (eventually), according to Rein, and the kicker is the SixAxis pad apparently works like a charm to control the new hoverboard.

Tretton has just announced at the Sony conference that Unreal (Tournament) 3 will be available on the PS3 first. It is not exclusive, but it will feature exclusive support for the modding community. Only on the PS3 will gamers be able to use PC mods and maps, and it is supposedly coming this year. Great news for fans of the series, and we hope the mods on console trend catches on.

Another great boon for Sony that was talked about was the version of the Unreal Engine 3.0 that is optimized for the CELL processor. This will help to entice developers to the Sony platform over the others.

The rumors are true, Gears Of War is coming to the PC, and it is now official. The game will feature all new content, a game editor, and using Windows Live, it will be jsut as connected as the Xbox360 version.

The game will even have 5 new single player chapters. Play again on PC anyone? The best news? It is for both XP and Vista, no more Shadowrun blues!

The Unreal Engine 3.0 is fast becoming the standard technology for next-games. The best part is that if these games look even as half as good as Gears Of War, we are in for a real treat. Chair Entertainment has now licensed the UE3.0 technology for use in their Live Arcade / PSN titles. The first release will be a game called Undertow, a quasi strategy game heading only to Xbox Live. Click read more for the full info, click the link for screens from Undertow.

Ramping up to E3 is always a hectic time where rumors fly and mud is slung. E3 2007 is no different, even though the event is much, much smaller. In fact, the new style E3 has not even cemented its its place yet in the yearly show schedule.

Be that as it may, the rumors are still flying. Several sites have reported that Gears of War 2 will be showing in some form or another at the event next month. Well, Epic has come to make sure this rumor gets quashed. This isn't the typical "we have no plans now," response either. Epic's Mark Rein said:

We are not announcing a sequel to Gears of War at E3 this year. Did you see the update we just did for Gears of War last week? We're still working on the first one. Pretty concrete if you ask us.

According to the latest leaked E3 2007 scuttlebut, Unreal 3 is going to be a PC/PS3 timed exclusive. Allegedly this is because the game will allow users to create custom user mods, and MS believe this may undermine the Xbox Live service. The PC and PS3 versions will hit shelves at the same time, and the Xbox360 version wil be released later after some issues are sorted through. Sounds legit people, but rumor mill for now. All the more reason to take our advice and own all consoles!

It seems that Sega has licensed Epic's Unreal Engine 3.0 for use in their next-gen games. Since they recently announced Condemned 2, we can only assume the game will use the UE3.0 technology. Good to hear.

The ait is over, folks. On Thursday, that's two days, you will be able to download four new maps for Gears Of War online play. These maps will cost, though. For the prviledge of playing the maps, you will have to either pay 800 MS points, or wait until Sept. 3, 2007 when all four maps will be available for free. We have Epic to thank for the time-release no-charge setup. They wanted to release the maps for free from day 1 but MS would not allow it. Oh well.

Well, you can expect to see the tough-as-nails Marcus Fenix on the big screen. New Line Cinema has grabbed the movie rights to Gears Of War. We wonder who will play marcus, Vin Diesel maybe? Too commercial. Tell us what you think.
