EA Exec Expresses Hope That PS3 Is Able To Survive Economy >

With the economy the way it is, having the most expensive home game console on the market is not an enviable position to be in. Sony and its Playstation 3 are still priced as a luxury item, but rumors of a price cut have publishers and developers stating their hopes that it comes to fruition. EA Exec Glen Schofield revealed that he does have fears that Sony may not be able to recapture the market. He did not call for a price cut outright, but he did say it was good for the health of the entire industry to have three successful home consoles on the market. We hope Sony is able to cut the price of the PS3 and capture some of that PS2 market they enjoyed years ago.

"I'm really not sure what's going on with Sony," he said. "They've been such a great, great partner and PlayStation 2 being such a great machine that, God, I hope they get out of this and they figure it out and they're around for a long time."

They made an expensive console to build and sell at precisely the wrong time. It'd be hard to imagine Sony(PS3) not making it, but who would have thought we'd be in the dire straights we are in now?

Yea. Sony will be fine... Price drop soon is needed though

Yeah because a price drop will help Sony lose less money /sarcasm.

Good will come of this move next gen. I'm excited to see the lessons learned this gen passed over to the next............a little scared too. Don't want every system to have waggle.

Well Xenos selling the box and at lost while software sells increase could help bring money to the table.. i'm sure its alot more techincal then that but a pricedrop is coming sooner rather then later so we will see. Maybe there waiting for 45nm for the cell and other parts to get smaller/cheaper which was reported to happen sometime early this year. it's a wait and see type deal

In that case, I hope they drop $200 off the price, that way the software sales will go through the roof!

/sarcasm
