Basically the Xbox360 firmware has been hacked to run backup copies. Now, the team is not going to release this hacked firmware, they say, because they advocate hacking not piracy. Chances are now the people know it can be done it will get out. Head on over to our friends at x-s for the details.

LOL they are so full of shit its 100% faked. There are televisions with more than one video output my hdtv downstairs has 6 to 7 of them and my standard definition telvision right here in my room has 2 of them one in front one in the back I'd REALLY love to see the entire television especially the back to make sure another 360 isn't hooked up in the back and running off to the side or something. Haha all these videos never get the job done they are seeking some sort of glory trying to make it seem like they did something nobody else could.

The fact that they didn't put the television on the ground right next to an outlet or something so we can see no other cables are running in the back of it just proves they haven't done anything. Televisions have more than one set of connectors for the hd av cable to go.

It's real. If you know The Specialist, then you know the video is not a fake. Expect the hacked firmware to be released by another group in the future.

TheSpecialist I've heard of him some guy that claims he hacks for the "thrill of it" so they can say hey they outsmarted these big smart people at some company and have no intention of selling it (which is bull they are all in it for money), but trust me when I say that video is faked if it was at all any real and this guy actually did what he claims why couldn't he show the ENTIRE television including the back? He couldn't because another 360 was connected to the back of that television.

No point in trying to convinve you then is there. 98% chance this is real.. and like LC said, someone will duplicate the result down the road the make it public and maybe then you can believe it. And yes we know of all the staged videos in the past with ps2, dreamcast, xbox1 etc. of using a bluff. This isn't one of those cases.

Funniest part is he has that copy of pgr 3 there to make us think he doesn't have another copy of the game in another 360 off to the side haha ;)

We don't get a chance to see the back of the television at all it was all focused on the screen. That's been done before I'm sorry.

Nah its ACTUALLY been done to an xbox ps2 etc, but atleast when a legitimate source shows it off the television is on the floor next to an outlet so we can clearly see there is no other cables coming from the television besides the power cord for the television and the cable coming from the console.

I know it'll happen eventually, but I just despise petty crooks even worse the ones that try to make it look like they've accomplished something worthy of a nobel prize. A simple job and you can get games the legal way.

If its true or not. It's still dangerous for the life span of the xbox 360. Like the Dreamcast, once people learn how to make illegal games the companies who support the system is scared to keep pumping out new games or sequals. On like DVD's were one DVD could play on all players. Games are made for specific systems. Which could cut into the life span of the sysem it self. Hopefully this is not the case. Because as time passes these systems are getting more expensive to have its life cut short.

The funny part is how he put the quote at the beginning of the video of what was mentioned about the 360's security. The 360's security is obviously good if nobody has been able to make a mod chip as of yet, had to be done through unsigned firmware, but I'm still skeptical. Even if its been done it wont shorten the lifespan of the 360, but expect all the big games to get ripped off.

Halo, too human, blue dragon, lost odyssey, mass effect, ghost recon, fight night, elder scrolls, crackdown (it'll be a rent the game then copy type deal) Sure the games will still sell well, but at the same time there will thousands probably millions out there that got it illegally.

Funniest part is the firmware thing is a joke unless they plan never to connect their 360 to the internet ever again a mandatory live update will make it so that it no longer works.

That sounds like a lifespan cut. Companies of all those games are going to take a big hit in the pocket if that happens.

go to xbox360fanboy.com and you'll see yet another "genius" supposedly working a copied game on the 360 (In complete darkness (hot swapping an official copy of pgr 3 apparently for a fake version) This video here is even worse than the specialist one as he doesn't even attempt to prove the 360 is actually connected to the tv set.

Anyway gonna go play some fight night :)

Some skeptics need to look a little closer. Analyze the video and you will see the timing of the start-up sequence coincides with the reflection of the TV screen on the center holographic portion of the original disc off to the side. There are many possibilities this is a fake, but don't hate just because you weren't the first one to hack the system. I swear some people just love to run their mouths because they are just too damn proud to give hats off to someone else’s achievements.

Sure we need more proof. In due time...in due time.
